I have a name you might have not heard of before "The Realm Online" it's older than dirt, and it shows lol. Debatably the oldest MMO depending on who you ask. They've relaunched a while back and well you have to see it to believe it. For the record to understand the people running it, they are still using a discord icon I drew for them as an example of how they could improve their current one.... in MS paint... as a mock up, and banned me when I told them I wanted the icon removed because I couldn't support the direction the game was going. Good times. The funny thing is if you Google "The Realm Online" you can see the dang icon. It wasn't even a finished job... so it's hilarious. They also copy pasted it onto their website banner, and saved a pixel art image as at the wrong scale as a .png. It looks awful.

I mean, technically, the game's not even an MMO seen as it appears to be lobby based to some degree. There's not really any RPG elements to it either from what I can tell, other than this mobile game esque gameplay loop. It's one of those games that over-promises and under-delivers/performs in every sense.

I remember warning people about Chronicles of Elyria, Camelot Unchained, that Peter Molyneux one I always forget... when they were begging for money. All of them selling something they couldn't achieve or couldn't achieve in the timeline they were proposing. We wuz haters! To see people fall for this crap? Hell, how much dumber have people become. You should check out Chronicles of Arcadia! It's not a scam, but it's a fan made rebalance of Runes of Magic. (The very first WoW Clone.) It's a small and not well known MMO, but it's pretty good!

I'll forever dislike the argument against using store bought assets, so long as the creator/dev cleans it up a bit(if allowed) to allow it to function well with-in their game. Idc. Like there are only so many ways to create a blade of grass, textures, trees, skyboxes, etc that are visually appealing, and that's what the asset store is there for. However, I do understand that there are those out there that just throw it into the engine all together, with no fixes, etc. aka the "Bad Apples" that spoil it for the rest.

I'm not against assets, but its just a well known method of "developing" a game for scam purposes. Mortal Online 2 is a game i enjoy a lot and they use quite a bit from the ue5 store

@@Wickedous I disagree completely, but I will say that there are those who lazily throw things together to make a flip hence the term "asset flip." But not all of them are like that, but the bad apples that do give the rest a bad name.

​@@sawmanUK I agree and hear you, I'm just pointing out that when people(not you particularly, or even at all lol but broadly speaking as we both know exactly the type of people I'm talking about here) see someone used a store bought asset and instantly call it a scam is a bit ridiculous when many many other companies AAA, and Indie both do the very same thing. What it boils down to; if allowed by the original creator, if the devs put their own twist on it, or "clean it up" to make it appear and function well enough for their project. Or in simpler terms, they hide it well enough. I'm not even talking about this game in particular either, because it is clear that this is one of those cases of Frankenstein'n assets together to flip without proper knowledge to make them function in a project. Hence the bugs, and other issues that could easily be fixed if effort was put in. Definitely shouldn't of been put up for a pricing in the first place, and is clearly a first time project he got the hopes up and wanted to share around which should of been free in the first place. Before I ramble on forever, to try and reiterate it all: Nuances, and it's always good to call out the obvious scams. BUT Not all store bought asset games are that either, just takes a fine touch & knowledge to make what you've bought into something meaningful.

Assets aren't inherently bad. A lot of games use them flawlessly and you never even notice - it's all about the implementation. There are right and wrong ways of doing it - if the game is good, as long as you're not using an EXTREMELY GENERIC asset, it can be made to work.

Why are you using a slide projector 'changing slide' sound effect when you are showing video clips? Video clips with 'vhs' effects I might add. I get it, you are relying on gimmicks in your edit, but try to spend a little bit of time understanding what you are doing. The slide projector does not play videos.... it's for slides. Second, if you did want to match the aesthetics of a slide projector, which had prominence in the 1960's - you wouldn't use vhs, which wasnt released until the late 70's. Some form of Kodachrome analog film overlay would have been more appropriate. Other than that, your storytelling is decent.
