In this video, I unbox, set up, and share my first thoughts on the SawStop Jobsite Saw Pro. Yes, it’s an older saw, but it checks out.
Corrections ಠ_ಠ:
6:45 - The fence comes with the saw, not the blade obviously.
10:16 - The blade is still spinning, not the saw. That would be crazy if the saw was spinning... (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

UPDATE: I had a chance to unbox my SawStop a few days after watching this video. I reiterate, without watching your video, I can say with near certainty that I wouldn’t have removed the shipping pin. Even knowing it was there, and having the instructions in front of me, I missed the stop that instructed me to move the blade to 45°, therefore making it impossible to see the red tape and pin. I also took the time to read the user’s manual - a worthwhile read to save myself money due to improper use, in the future. THANK YOU! Very helpful video. The humor - well…I’m glad he had fun. 🤷‍♀️ I’m glad I watched this. Without having watched, there’s a good chance I might have missed the shipping pin. That would have been an expensive lesson. If I’m honest, seeing that there were such few parts to install, I might not have made it past the quick set-up guide. Now I’m more inclined to read the manual to learn about other features and how to use them properly. I’m looking forward to unboxing my own. Thanks 🙏

I was very irritated that every time I locked down the rip fence it would move just a fraction. Quite a hair pulling experience when needing absolute precision. Then I found a video showing that you simply pull the fence forward as your locking it. Now I love the saw

I’ve had mine for a month or so and yes, my table was not flat. I was able to return it for a more flat table. My store’s display saw was an older version and the table was flat. My new saw table is still not flat, but it’s much closer and workable. Keep in mind, a nonflat table near the throat will produce an off square cut, especially on narrower boards.

I have one and love it, especially the ease of mobility to store away in my small shop. Yep, I don’t like the table top material or the miter gauge either. Let’s face it, we paid $1500 for the squelching of our fears of a major saw accident.

Thanks for the video, here is my experience: I purchased a new SawStop JSS Pro a few months back. During the set up I discovered the throat/blade insert slot was cut off center by 1/4". Called Saw Stop immediately.. they would send a replacement. Next during assembly I discovered the top was grossly warped.. as much as 157 thousands... that is well over an 1/8th inch.. Not "the most accurate job site saw" as advertised by Saw Stop. Another phone call(s) Over a 3 day period the worst customer service I have encountered from a manufacturer. I contacted the seller, they intervened and the saw was returned. The dealer confirmed the warp in all directions.. clearly a manufacturing defect. The dealer refunded my money.. They had no other saw in stock Saw Stop agreed with the dealer to trade for the defective saw .. that took over 2 months. Finally the dealer had a new saw in stock. I went back ( this is a 200 mile round trip for me to the closest dealer) We unboxed the saw and confirmed it was within .008". Not as flat as my metal tabled saw but by Saw Stop's own standards... (33 thou " ) not defective. I bought the saw. It will take the place of my massive professionally made 37 year old 12 ", 3hp 3 belt drive long rail, sliding table .. until I get my new shop built. I was considering an equivalent new saw from Saw Stop to take the place of my beloved older saw.. we'll see. Now that Festool has taken over and is ( in my opinion) in collusion with dealers to price fix (which they incorrectly call "fair trade" ) as they do with their own tools, .. not so certain. My conclusion: The saw is adequate and grossly overpriced given the quality. As an example the fence adjustments are mickey mouse. I wanted the safety feature so sacrificed the much better quality of a Makita which was $500 less. I now have the saw but have yet to put it to real use...I'll post again with my findings.

I have one of these, purchased in late 2020. It’s my first table saw and I’m really glad I bought it. There are some really minor design things not even worth mentioning. I ended up buying an Incra miter gauge which I’d also recommend. I built a crosscut sled and a 45 degree sled and the whole thing works fine. I’m a garage woodworker with limited space and I just don’t think there’s a better saw on the market right now for that kind of situation.

I have to agree with you, for the price they're asking that table should be dead flat! It's honestly disappointing to me that they would tell you it's "within tolerance". If you charge a premium price you need to deliver a premium product. Doing finer woodworking that will throw off the angles and make pieces not fit properly, and saying "It's a job site saw, it's not meant for fine woodworking" is a BS excuse, a flat table saw base is basic stuff.

Plastic body is shock resistant, light weight, and the only real option on a portable saw. Aluminum would cost more, e less impact resistant and weigh more. Here is what saw stop could do.. use machined aluminum on the gauges, the miter guide and use higher quality finishes on the table top.

If they use all metal with cast iron top. Then the saw would be very heavy and not very feasible on the mobility part, especially for contractors that need to use the saw on job site. I use this saw on job site and I love everything about it, except for the weight. It is a bit on a heavy side, compare to other job site saws. Great review btw, but you forgot to mention one of the main functionalities of this saw which is mobility

@@Aaron-nj4ou Of course it’s not an absolute. It’s a saying that a lot motorcyclists I know have told me when referring/talking about people they know who have had accidents. I would ascertain that a saying like this establishes that there is an inherent danger in riding motor bikes that they are aware of. I used the motorcycle analogy to establish that there is an inherent danger in using power tools. You can do everything right an accident can still happen. Here’s another good one I’ve heard: ‘you won’t need it until you need it’. Of course this isn’t an absolute as well but you already knew that.

I do not think it is any louder than my previous saw which was a 10" Worm Drive Tablesaw. It may be quieter, but I am not sure compared to others out there. For fine woodworking, I would not recommend this. A cabinet table saw with a cast iron table and a more accurate fence would be best in my opinion.

The SawStop people don't know how to design saws. They have a patented safety feature, which they tried to get the govt. to mandate for all saws and thusly make millions, but they really don't know how to design an accurate table saw itself. Go with Bosch #1 or Dewalt #2 if you want a good accurate table saw. And, just don't stick your hand into the blade.

Wow!, For all the complaints that you stated it seems like you would have done your research BEFORE paying for this saw. There are also older youtube videos on this exact saw that you could have reviewed. I own a full size Sawstop table saw as well as about a dozen Festool power tools and I can easily say that you get what you pay for (and more) in these tools. I will say that I am sure that Sawstop considered all specifications and materials when designing and building this job site saw. Personally, and given their reputation, I would trust in any of the research and development on all of their tools. Btw, you can buy this saw for about $900 without the rolling stand. One could easily build a solid stationary stand for a shop.
