I have one as well. make sure you use thin kerf blades. It's a bit underpowered when cutting 8/4 hardwood and the thin kerf makes it less likely to bog down.

I am looking at your video while sitting in a chair looking into the back of my pickup that has the same saw as yours sitting in it. Got the same problems and questions. Thought about tying the pallet to a tree in order to pull it out but sanity return in time. Ended up sliding it on a sturdy work bench and then on to a Harbor Freight hydraulic lift table that came up to the bench level. Getting it up off its side and onto the stand….required some help. It is a beast! Highly recommend the lift table. I have used that many times for tasks like this. It is my regular platform for my planner. When not in use, the table goes down and it and the planner are pushed under a workbench.

Both of the wings on mine were not perfectly flat. Mine is level at the front and back but a little dip in the middle of the each of the wings. Shouldn’t affect function but of course really bothersome. Upgraded from the contractor saw that had stamped steel wings so still an upgrade but still…
@mmcc_woodshop62883 ай бұрын
I understand how that would be frustrating, especially on an expensive tool. Luckily the wings and top on mine are nearly perfectly flat, I haven’t had any issues at all.

Sawstop came to my shop and put mine together. I've got 2 of them. U can request someone to put it together. I could do it myself. But it was offered in the purchase price for them to send someone when it was delivered. They put them together fast. About 2 hours with 2 guys assembling it. Mine r the 3 hp ones. One is for dados so I don't have to keep switching the breaks for the dado blades and my other one is for everything else it also has a router area set up on them both also

Just curious. It looks like there is a lot of sawdust under the throat plate, yet the saw looks otherwise new and unassembled. Any explanation?
@mmcc_woodshop62882 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure I refilmed the part where I took the throat plate off (in the video) a few days later after I had used the saw for several cuts. The original footage where it was new/clean wasn’t filmed well so I cut it cut and redid it.

Hey Lance, thanks for pointing that out, I completely forgot to film that part! Check out page 3 of the manual at this link: www.sawstop.com/images/uploads/manuals/Manual_Mobile_Base_ICS.pdf Theres 2 tabs on the mobile base sitting just past flush on the bottom of the saw. They fold upward and you use self tapping screws to bolt the tabs on the base to the bottom of the saw. Hope that helps!

Just got my 3hp PCS. Unfortunately have to lower my work table that doubles as out-feed, gonna be well worth it. Thanks for the vid. So whats your thought on the over head plug in vs across the ground? I’m considering overhead because I try to keep as much as I can off the floor. Wondering if that will get in the way of the material or just in general like when walking around it etc. My shop is much smaller as well only 15x22
@mmcc_woodshop62882 жыл бұрын
Nice, congrats on your new saw! I really like the plug from the ceiling to keep the cord off the ground. I moved the saw a little bit further to the right to keep the cord out of the way - if you’re cross-cutting a wide piece, sometimes the cord can get in the way, other than that I’d say go from the ceiling all the way!

@@mmcc_woodshop6288 I want a Sawstop PCS lol. They have factory refurbed 1.75 HP models available in my closest city. Debating between the 1.75 and the 3 HP. Only thing that even swings me to the 1.75 (besides cost) is that I am 100% offgrid - the solar/battery system is fairly massive, but every little bit helps, especially in the winter and during darkness (it's AC coupled so daytime/fair weather use allows a more direct path - no battery use at all during sunshine). Gonna install two dust collector systems rather than one big one for the same reason...on opposite sides of the shop. I have an old 1.5 hp jet from my previous life (pre military) and one just like it popped up on FB market place...limit the runs to just a few machines each rather than trying to serve the entire area, I think they will do adequate jobs (with the better filters) and not draw crazy amounts of power.
@mmcc_woodshop62882 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a cool setup. I’m not certain about the 1.75 HP, I would imagine it would have plenty of power still but I have no firsthand experience with it. Hope whatever you decide works well for you!

Thanks for the very helpful video! Disclaimers about hurting myself, being an idiot, etc., all accepted. Reality is this will be a solo assembly effort for me too. It's hard to quantify how much of a strain it was to tip that thing up on to the base but I'll ask anyway. If you were to pick one, which of the following would you use to describe it? "This is a really bad idea, I'm going to blow out my back!", "This is heavy but as long as I am careful...", "That was a bit of strain but really not bad for someone in decent shape...", or "I bet a 140 pound person could do that solo."?
@mmcc_woodshop6288 Жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! So I would absolutely NOT (no circumstances whatsoever) recommend using the weight bench as I did to unload it from the truck bed. As far as tipping it up, I was able to do it but it was certainly difficult. I’m in my 30s, about 220lbs, probably average fitness. I would strongly recommend a second or even third person to help if you can. One wrong tweak and someone’s back could definitely be injured, also if you’d drop it on your foot halfway up, your foot would get broken for sure. Looking back on this, I definitely should’ve had someone help

I unloaded my PCS much the same way. I didn't have a weight bench so I used an office chair raised all the way up, slid it out and with the top on the chair I lowered the chair and then lowered the bottom by hand to the mobile base. I had to turn the saw around so the chair was up against the tail gate so it wouldn't slide away. It was dicey to say the least, but it did work.
