We have two boys with high functioning autism. Every day and year has its challenges but the joy out weighs the challenges. There is nothing better then the feeling you get when after years of practice they finally are able to do a task that they struggled with. The joy the first time they play with a classmate for even a short time. You are an amazing mom!

My nephew is autistic. From toddler on I kept telling his mom you need to have him assessed, earlier intervention the better the outcome. Finally at 3 he was diagnosed w autism. He immediately went into a program that led to the autism program at CSU Fresno. This program was designed by someone studying autism for her masters degree and showed remarkable results. I have clients that have moved here to the Fresno area just for their kids to attend the CSUF program. Many other institutions have adopted the curriculum and program because of the results seen. Today my 12 year old nephew looks you in the eye, talks to you, regular Ed classroom (w IEP). A stranger would not know he has autism. I’m convinced it’s the CSUF program (I have my degree in early childhood education) and I’ve heard similar results from other parents and family. Please look into the program for your boy. You won’t be disappointed. Godspeed and best of luck

when the geneticist did an ID genetic panel on my daughter they found 2 suspicious gene variants one in SMARCA2 and one in SMARCA4 but my daughter had inherited them from her parents one from me one from her Dad so they were thrown out for causal of her problems because her parents did not have her problems. She was later diagnosed with another gene variation on her ddx3x gene and diagnosed with that BUT those 2 unknown gene variants passed to her from her parents can be passed to our other kids and our son who is 7 diagnosed with ASD Level 2 and has dyslexia & working memory problems, ADHD + (ODD-severe) we had him tested and he is carrying the SMARCA4 variant from his Dad. His Dad was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child. I would also be on the spectrum I think. Genetic Health Qld says there is no testing available yet to prove these types of gene variants are casual of anything so she said we could wait a few more years and come back to see them as more technologies and knowledge come out. Also my daughters gene was not on the panel so they tried to tell me that they didn’t find anything but it’s just that it wasn’t tested for it. Panels have like 1000 genes when there are thousands and thousands of genes. There are not many genes so far that are classified as just “autism causal” so you might find it hard getting a geneticist that would diagnose a suspicious gene as autism causal..They are not there yet with that kind of knowledge and testing.

I am proudly Autistic, and she is calling autism brain damage! Autism ISN'T brain damage, it is just a neurological difference. I can't even express how hurt and offended I am 😭😭😭 How is that a hate comment?
@crohniequeenab3 жыл бұрын
@@crystalautistic6576 actually she’s not calling autism brain damage. Stop with the dramatics. It’s not offensive to get testing on a disabled child that had a traumatic birth that could have lead to a birth injury autism or not. The brain is very complex and not a lot is known about it and when a traumatic birth happens and is induced with lack of oxygen many things can happen. So many areas of the brain that controls many different things that can shut down or be cut off within seconds of lack of oxygen during delivery. The more studies the better. It can lead to cognitive delays and many different things Sawyer shows that aren’t autism related. She never said it’s from brain damage and that’s why he has autism and it’s the traumatic birth fault. 🙄🙄She just wants to know how his brain is functioning and if it was damaged and areas it could have impacted.

@@crohniequeenab Then, why does her title say "SAWYER'S MRI TO CHECK FOR BRAIN DAMAGE Autism"?
@paintbrush3554 Жыл бұрын
@@crystalautistic6576Autism can be caused by multiple things. Its not always an arbitrary difference. There are many studies showing unhealthy environmental factors increase risk of autism(and also adhd) like exposure to maternal exposure pesticides, pollution, infection, stress and truama etc. That can alter the brains of the fetus in ways it wouldn't naturally grow. Also brain damage during delivery CAN cause autism. And the symptoms of autism and adhd can cause many individuals to struggle with major parts of their life which is why if servere enough it is considered a disability. I have adhd, which isn't the same but as a fellow neurodivergent its important not to simply ignore any facts or studies or investigations regarding our neurodivergence that are uncomfortable. And you being neurodivergent doesn't give you the right or authority to belittle people doing such investigations with good intentions. The world doesn't revolve around our feelings.
