Thank you for putting this together and explaining how to backwash. I didn't understand the concept and you make it simple clear.

Hi. First - hello fellow Navy veteran! I was a nuc submariner (1970-1976). Thanks for your service Sailor! Next, I very much enjoyed your video. I just obtained both types: squeeze and mini, and I needed an initial "primer" on how to use both. You did a good job in doing that. I plan to use the squeeze for long hikes (multi-night), and the mini for day hikes. Thanks, and God Bless. Ken

Great review!!! Answered ALOT of my questions about the mini...I've just ordered the larger system but was interested in the 'backwash' techniques and you answered it perfectly! Ignore the comments about the wind, you can still hear your comments quite clearly...listeners must understand this type of youtube videos are for info data only and not professional, screen sanctioned videos, otherwise they would have to pay for them and I doubt many (including me!) would pay for them if that was the case! Thanks for your video and informative video! May God Bless!

I personally own 3 sawyer mini water filters, 1 in my Jeep, one in my camping backpack, one in my edc bag I take to work with me, and I have given a couple away as gifts to people. I think they are awesome. I use mine in a in line system using the platypus big zip 2L.. as a dirty bag and use hose and quick connects. to let gravity filter it into a clean bag or smart water bottle. It is a vey versatile water filter for sure. also the smart water bottle with the flip up sippy lid can be used to back flush so you can leave the plunger syringe at home.

that's awesome! how do you back wash with the bottle, I'm not quite following you here. sounds interesting!

Good Demo! Agree with you about the Sawyers. Have both the Squeeze for "base camp" and the Mini for each family member & each vehicle get-home kit. Tip: No need to remove the drinking cap when filtering water into another container. Just open it. Easier, IMO, to fill soda bottles via the drinking cap. Thanks for sharing.
@jiujitsu20009 жыл бұрын
your exactly right about removing the cap... no need, thank you for stopping by and have a beautiful day!!

As with all of your other videos, Well done my friend. I might also add that a trip to Lowes or Home Depot will give you an endless supply of adaptors for any type of bottle, bag, bucket, hookup or hose that you can think of. I like the Smart water bottle. The threads fit nice on the Sawyer filters. I also prefer the cap on that bottle as well.

It's not going to take the taste, odor, chemicals or metals out of the water... this doesn't normally apply if you're filtering Backcountry water. All those things that I mentioned just a second ago or generally in a urban situation

back home in mountains.. I would go walking back about several miles in summer ... unfortunately , we ran out of 1 gallon of water .. we thus had to drink from a little 1 foot wide trickle that came out from ground next to cow watering tank.. luckily we didn't get sick.... .. anyways I bought me one of these and keep it in my back pack every where I go.... even in vehicle.... thanks for video..

Are the water filters still affective if the water might have chemicals or petroleum in it ? Like water run off of a farm with pesticides or something like that in it? I have two of those filters but never had to use one yet. Great Video 👍

I think my Calculation was in Error! 2 gallons average X 365 days = 730 gallons. So 50,000 gallons (2 gallons average per person) lasts 137 YEARS for 1 person! Sorry! My bad! So you could quite literally use 1 of these things to serve over 100 people for a year, assuming proper usage. I never was great in algebra...

100,000 Gallons / 2 gallons clean water per day (assumes 1 person no hardship) = 4.56 Months for 1 person for 1 Mini. Assumes that it works as advertised. So get a few. The Squeeze and a few others claim 1 Million gallons ( X10 of the Mini's) Calculating Drinking less than 2 Gallons per person (a Day) could stretch that to about 6 months per person per mini filter, assuming it works perfectly, and is properly backflushed every use.
