Happy Sunday Everyone!! Today we cover one of the most confusing topics out there, but Ive tried to make it as simple as possible!! Did it make sense?? Do you think you will be able to attempt Manual Mode Now??

sawyerhartman been using manual mode but the visual explanation makes it much more easier to understand. Would like a follow up using a low end camera or phone camera with you demonstrating using manual mode.

LOLOLOLOL I learned everything I need to know about my camera in 10 minutes and I took a semester long class and I didnt get what I got here in 10 minutes. Your explanation helped me and I am dyslexic so things are hard because I see and think of things different when you say higher or plus, to me I might think of that from another way and I think it should be lower or less but it means the same thing to me, its hard to explain. You fixed my brain on how I was thinking of aperture and Fstop not knowing that fstop is just the way they show aperture to you with numbers, I did not know that F stop numbers are what aperture is =) I am so happy I bought a flash and I am going to start taking pictures again and I might get a new lens. You made my day sir!

This was so helpful, I've watched so many of these trying to understand how these three components work together, but yours has been by far the easiest to understand. Thank you for playing out what to do when certain scenarios arise with something being too light or too dark. This made so much sense. Thank you.

The best manual explanation video online no cap. Watching this all the way from South Africa. Big ups !
@sc85photography754 жыл бұрын
Im a beginner who has already started shooting in manual but this is the best video I have seen so far. I had difficulty with over exposing and under exposing when changing the shutter speed. The specific part where you mention about the exposure grid and keeping it in middle, is something I've not heard about before or even noticed on my camera. I tried adjusting the settings based on the exposure grid for different effects using a fan at home and it worked perfectly! Many other videos talk about shutter speed, aperature and ISO but no one I have comes across mentions the exposure grid! This maybe a basic bit of knowledge (im not sure) but as a beginner who is completely new to photography and manual shooting, this is a huge help! Im heading out now to put this into practice and get some (hopfully) great pics! Thanks!

Aloha from Hawaii Wow best advise to understand the triangle. You don’t just throw out terms. You break it down with examples and make shooting in “ manual mode” understandable. You take the anxiety out so I can “focus” on being creative!! Mahalo for keeping it simple!! Aloha nui loa

Out of all the videos I’ve seen this one explains it the best. None of the other videos said it’s just these 3 setting and you have to just balance them out.

You're the first person--including photojournalist friends I've asked!--to explain that the three elements were interconnected, and that changing one necessarily means changing the others. So helpful! Thank you!

My first complex camera was a Yashica FX-1 in the late 1970's, I used it through High School and learned how to develop my own film. For the last 20 years I've dealt with point and shoot cameras that were OK, but I have always wanted to bet back to the way it was with that old camera.

I've been trying to pick up photography lately. Took a couple classes in college so I understand the aperture and the shutter speed and how they affect the photo. BUT! Up until this point, I never thought of the ISO as a last resort. Rather than something as an equal balance between the three. THANK YOU.

Great video! Just sent this to my future sister-in-law who is starting out in photography to give her another explanation after mine. If anyone starting out happens to read this, there are a couple more aspects to bokeh than just the aperture-- the focal length and background separation also plays a role. The longer the focal length and the further your subject is from the background will create more bokeh and give you that blown out background!

Nice video easy to understand and not so technical. One thing you didn't bring up is how the metering mode (EV, center weight, partial and spot metering) is set will also affect your exposure. @1:18 you say tick meter to zero is a "proper/correct" exposure, it is trying to expose a whole scene but try that when shooting Snow or a mostly dark scene is not really the "proper/correct" exposure because it is trying to view everything as 50% grey. Most of the time you want to be as close to zero or on zero, based on your taste and how you process the image!
