I was never into Saxon back in the day and have really only gotten into them over the past few years. Like you I also love the new album. Great video Darcy. Cheers! Gary

Can't rank all of saxons discography really due to how many albums there are but top 5 for me are 5 - hell, fire and damnation - saw them on this tour as special guests for judas priest at leeds arena and they were amazing. Also first album released since i became a fan 4 - strong arm of the law - love so much of this album. The title track especially is a cobtender for my favourite saxon song 3 - denim and leather - so iconic and its not hard to see why people love it. The title track especially is incredible live 2 - carpe diem - the album that got me into saxon. Went to see them at york barbican on this tour and it was two days before my grandmas funeral so i wasn't in the best headspace but the concert really cheered me up and I've loved them ever since. Really love the title track and remember the fallen 1 - wheels of steel - one of my favourite albums ever. 747 is a contender for my favourite song of all time and i love every track. Definitely a strong contender for favourite album but tough competition with somewhere in time, British steel, billion dollar babies, clockwork angels and creatures of the night. Cheers from the uk for all the great content

Luckily was the right age at the right time - got into Saxon / NWOBHM in 1980 (along with all the other stuff - ska/new wave/ post punk/reggae etc). Biff is one of the most underrated vocalists of them all - still really solid all these years later. 80/81 was a very exciting time, musically, here in the UK. Saw Saxon a couple of times back then and they were great.

Impressive you have all on vinyl! Saw Saxon a few times in the very early days, and yeah, supporting Motorhead : ) There was a very low key terrestrial telly programme over here (UK), a good few years ago, as to Saxon's current situation being not too bright. I think it was documenting the band's want to become relevant again. To be honest, i was very surprised the band managed to become popular again. I can only put that to metal becoming more popular in itself, and of younger people getting into these older bands. Personally, i lost track after Denim and Leather, and Strong Arm was the last one i bought. I think the new breed of faster heavier bands were to mostly blame for that, lol. And on another slightly off topic thing, and going on the band's alliance with Motorhead.....wasn't it a pity that Biff or one or two early members of band didn't appear at Lemmy's televised funeral, other than all those rock/metal superstars!. Now that would've been nostalgia!! Anyway, i digress, lol......very nice watch Darcy!
@darcysixstringsninelives34938 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great comment! I’ve always thought Judas Priest & Saxon have/had subpar management, Iron Maiden is light years ahead in that department. Thanks for the kind words 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
@iancaley23478 ай бұрын
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 No probs, your enthusiasm is a joy to watch. Even for the bands i ain't keen on : )) Well, not sure as to the management these bands had (except Maiden), but you could be right. Saxon and Priest were on a mainstream 'pop' show a few times circa 79/80, then went awol as to mainstream viewing....but Maiden straight from the off were constantly on, as much as this type of music generated back then, lol. Slightly odd as to Priest, as from 82 they seemed to get much bigger, probably due to the North American breakthrough. So on that i'd say Saxon's management may have been light years behind Priest...let alone Iron Maiden : )

Fantastic video, Darcy! I've been eagerly awaiting your updated Saxon ranking, and it didn't disappoint. There are so many great albums in this extensive catalog, and there isn't a single dud among them. I actually much prefer modern Saxon to the classic era, but I enjoy it all. Here's my list: 24) Destiny 23) Saxon 22) Solid Ball of Rock 21) Crusader 20) Rock the Nations 19) Forever Free 18) Innocence is No Excuse 17) Killing Ground 16) Dogs of War 15) Unleash the Beast 14) Wheels of Steel 13) Denim and Leather 12) Lionheart 11) Carpe Diem 10) Into the Labyrinth 9) Call to Arms 8) Strong Arm of the Law 7) Battering Ram 6) Hell, Fire, And Damnation 5) Metalhead 4) Power and the Glory 3) Sacrifice 2) Thunderbolt 1) The Inner Sanctum Cannot go wrong with these heavy metal legends!

Great ranking Darcy! Do you like the band Alastis? If you've never heard of them check em out they're great. Start with the song "In Darkness" off of the album "The Other Side". This will give you an idea of their style. Cheers!

No, I haven’t heard them! I will start with that song and that album you’ve suggested. Thanks for the recommendation & thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy

Pretty much the exact same as I'd rank them , the only difference is I have Unleash The Beast in my top 5, I think it's amazing, Circle Of Light is one of my favorite metal songs ever. And I'd have Destiny at 24, other than that I fully agree. I'm seeing them next Month with Uriah Heep.

I loved saxon from wheels of steel through to power & the glory. Then they released a steaming pile of horseshit in 84, crusader.

Excellent update me ode. That's the problem with great back catalogues, there's not a lot between the majority of the albums, so it's virtually impossible to rank as tomorrow, if you're like me, you will have changed your mind HaHa!!.
@darcysixstringsninelives34938 ай бұрын
It’s razor thin between some of these, no easy task lol. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Neil
