Note: You probably do not want to watch this video unless you are a repairer with one of these on your bench and you have not seen many of them before.
Saxophone repairman Matt Stohrer of www.StohrerMus... makes possibly his longest video yet for his smallest audience yet in this video, where he ambles through one way to do the adjustment materials for the Conn 26M/30M.
Matt is lucky to see a LOT of these horns compared to the norm at most shops, and the Conn Connqueror horns are unique in how they are set up and how they function. Hopefully this helps someone who has one in for repair but is not super familiar with them.

Matt, I've been following your channel for over 10 years, the same amount of time I've been in the repair business and it's been such a blessing to be able to weave your advice and wisdom into my work as I hone my craft and build my skill set. I sit here now watching this video at my work bench doing some playing condition while I glance up and the body of a 26m of my own hanging on the wall, disassembled for years waiting for the time to continue the work and confidence in the outcome I'll get out of it to come my way to dive back in to the project. What a motivator to get back in and take care of a project I have had sidelined for way too long. You've been an inspiration to me my whole career and I want to thank you sincerely for that. It would be lovely to meet you some day if you are ever find yourself in Reno, or if I'm visiting the East Coast, to have the chance to thank you in person would be a treat.

Can you let me know what shop in Reno you work at? I'm close enough to consider driving my vintage horns to Reno when they need something, and using someone who does things Matt's way would be a big plus! Thanks.

I have one of each. Fantastic horns, and I imagine you’ve done more of these than anyone alive. I was hoping to find someone who worked at pre-altimeter Conn, but they all seem to be off the grid.

Thank you for this, really great. I have an older Conn tenor and though much simpler it was useful to have the thoughts on where the adjustment can come from and ways to try to approach it. So far I used mostly all cork but have been wanting to revisit it as some of the keys are really too noisy. I’ll take the wisdom and see what I can apply where to improve. Great to see such instruments getting the love they need

Glad you found it good food for thought! If you have not yet, you may want to try cutting your cork this way before you abandon it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5PWkIFtar9rias

Just want to say thanks. I was able to replace most of the busted up pads on my horn after watching your video on the subject a while back. Think I did a pretty decent job, definitely not your pro level, but maybe now I have a fighting chance to suck less. 👍

Thanks for the video and the others too! :) Just wondering, where do you find the PTFE to layer the cork with, please? I find 0,13 mm (0.005") and 0,26 mm (0.010") small sheets. Or what is a suitable thickness, CA to attach, please?

Fantastic reference for learning to work on these with less trial and error, making a mental note to come back to this when the day hopefully comes. Are you repairing/replacing the strap ring or is it not to that point yet in your opinion? Always great stuff, thanks

I did not replace it. Used with a plastic or coated strap ring, that ring has many many years of life left in it. Once maybe 1/3 of the remaining material is worn away (which could take decades if it is not abused) it will be time to repair or replace it.

Great video as always. I had a question, is it posibble to adjust how much the Palm F key vents while pressing the Front F key on a early S1 King Super 20 tenor?

Concept is the same as shown here, but with less freedom. If you want a lower opening height, you *may* just end up with lost motion. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaLQknlsp7SnmrM
