Can Zest-It we use for pencils be used to blend oil pastels? I am not keen on OMS.

have you ever tried watercolor paper with oil pastels? would the cold press paper have enough tooth?
@SayantiFineArts5 жыл бұрын
half of my oil pastel paintings are done on watercolor paper(cold press)... yes it is an enjoyable surface and has enough tooth.

What kind of pencil are u using in beginning
@SayantiFineArts5 жыл бұрын
I am using a white charcoal pencil instead of a regular graphite pencil as it shows up better on darker colored paper

I am new to oil pastel and when I layer, it is not as clear as yours even though I'm not using mineral spirits yet. The top layer keeps blending into the existing paint. Why do you think that's the case?
@SayantiFineArts5 жыл бұрын
I think the issue is that you are pushing the oil pastel sticks to hard. That is required in the initial layer to cover the surface or f you are trying to mix two colors. In the subsequent layers when you are just layering you need to use less pressure so that your layer settles on the top and does not mix in.... hope that makes sense!

Absolutely lovely! Jerry's Artorama is an amazing site for artists. I've gotten a lot of supplies from them.
