Eric, the label says do not crosslink build coats only final coat for adhesion. Doesn't that weaken the system?

Great info as always. Do you have any plans to do a review of ML Campbells Agualente Plus Clear and Pigmented?

Alan Grudzinski yep I have sample boards. It’s about the same as the kem aqua plus. Just a solid Waterbase

Nice job! Just got my hands on some sayerlack to try out on a potential job from my sales rep, but was not told about the cross Linker. Thanks for your videos!

darrin hodges yeah if you need the extra mar and chemical resistance it’s definitely worth the money to use it.

@@ballardpaintingcompany514 Sayerlack "cross linker" is an aziridine product. It's one of the more dangerous components used in chemical coatings. It was available on the market but rumor has it has been pulled. Other European coating shops stayed away and focused on the 2k WB polyurethane options for their overall improved health/safety and performance. But what do I know ;)

@@iansimpson4428 I wonder if the Renner cross linker is an aziridine product as well. Hmmm.

Just tried finding Hydroplus. Called local the commercial facility and they never heard of it…. How? They said it’s probably been discontinued and they now have a new product on the market that came out in June called Gallery Series. Can we get a review of this product and its performance? Supposedly it’s a self sealing all in one type deal
@villifyz999 Жыл бұрын
It’s not discontinued. I just talked to my sales rep and he said they have a 1140 gallons at the Sherwin distribution center in Mass. We just purchased 110 gallons the other day and it was delivered today. It’s sold by Sherwins Industrial Wood Coatings division, not their Architectural(retail) division.

Hey Eric. Have you tried the crosslinker in the Kem Aqua Plus? Just a idea and curious. Thx
@ericreason65593 жыл бұрын
It won’t take it. I don’t use kem aqua anymore so many better coatings on the market.

@@ericreason6559 I hear ya! I’ve refinished a number of customers cabinets with KAP including my own and within a year finish is already breaking down from oils on hands.

Hey Eric, thanks for the review. If I use this product for a refinish do I need a special primer? I really want to stay away from vinyl sealer because of the harsh smell. Also, if I use the pigmented hydro plus do I need to add a protective clear coat? Or should I be okay with the catalyst mixed in?
@ericreason65595 жыл бұрын
Fine Finish Cabinet Painting and Design LLC it all depends in refinishing the issue is dye migration and tannin bleed. Technically the top coat will have better adhesion than any primer will. However if the top coat is not self crosslinking it will not block the tannin bleed. If you use the crosslinker in the sayerlack it will block the tannin bleed but the cavet is that you have to let the film crosslink for 6-12 hrs. So for speed most guys use vinyl or bin or some other form of blocking.

Thanks Eric, very informative videos. I read a lot about Sayerlack on Woodweb, good reviews. I did have a guy tell me he started off with Sayerlack but is now using Renner Coatings. Supposedly, when SW bought out Sayerlack, the head chemist went and started Renner Coatings. If you ever get your hands on some WB Renner, that would be interesting. I'm looking to try some myself in near future. Thanks again

WordAboveAll I am currently trying to get my hands on the renner stuff. I talked with someone involved with making the rennner more acessible to small shops but they are hesitant to send me what they have due to how I test products. I will eventually get some of what they have.

SW does ruin everything over time so im going with renner even if its $100 per gal not sure my price of sayerlack

WordAboveAll renner has been around a long time. Greg Saunders use to sell it my annexpaint rep. I shot some of the self seal and it was okay nothing to get to excited about. I have just received more in from mk sale and we will do the videos on them. So stay tuned. It looks like the renner stuff is going to be pricy and at this point I am unsure it’s going to be worth the price be we will see. Thanks for watching.
