For my Brown belt, I took a fight with a man who was 6'3 and 270 pounds! I was 5'7 and 180! Most people you mentioned have not faced those kinds of differences. Certainly that is so rare today, it reaches epic status and I did it 5 years ago at 46! The opponent was 25. One round, heavy contact. What you likely did not understand is that I am talking about LARGE disadvantages in BOTH height and weight. Using my experience, Tyson would have had to fight someone 6'6 and 310-320!

Thanks for this video Mr. Sayf. I am glad that you hit on the points of size, mass, height, etc. because I have heard so many smaller guys swear that they can beat bigger men using just their fist in a brawl. I think that small people who claim that size never matters are the guys that suffer from an inferiority complex. Thanks again and keep posting.

Here is the "thing" about "getting under the skin" of a bigger person: You will have to risk taking a shot from a bigger, and likely more powerful person. Most are not willing to to that. assuming a bigger person does not give two cents about who you are, the task is than to give him reason to fear. I have done it many times, but it comes with a price and risk. It is another story when the person is already afraid of his own shadow.

@KnucklesELz Thank you for your comment young blood (not the gang, it is a term us old heads use to address the youth). As for a video on 52 blocks, I will put one up, but it is usually a sensitive subject to talk about an art in straight terms since people invest so much in the myth of functionality. Although I am quite calm nowadays, I do retain an edge and if disrespected, it sharpens, Therefore I try to avoid conflict. I will though address that soon. Be well, Sayf

3) It is also important to know several things: 1) Willard weight almost 60 pounds more than Dempsey, but was very unskilled! That accounts for a lot since the man was a punching bag. 2) Edward Henry Grebb (Harry Grebb) did beat some heavyweights, but again, not the most skilled although better than Willard. 3) The fact that we have to go back to Grebb to get even a GOOD example to make a point shows how rare it is for large disadvantages 2 b over come. 4) The "Raging Bull", not hte best example

I know all of those fighters you named. I didn't say height and weight have an "advantage" I only said it matters. I dont think one dimension (height weight reach) has an advantage over the other. But what I do know is they matter in a fight. And how they matter is that those factors help you decide which path you will chose to go in the battle. For example its not wise to run and grab a guy whose 5'9 and 320lbs if your 6 feet and 185lbs.

Another great video! You keep it real and thats rare nowadays.....Ive heard you mention 52 blocks in a couple of videos just wondering if you can make a video specifically on that...i grew up on it and would like to see if theres any similarities thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

4) Lamotta owes his fame to ONE win over Sugar Ray, who creamed him MANY times after, one so bad they called it the "Saint Valentines day massacre"!! The most important point you missed is the fact that I talk about "Combat" more than "rule playing". When the option is more than hands, size makes more of a difference. At that point the option is also to "bench press" a person and slam them to the ground. I am realistic about size as it plays out without rules and it is foolish for anyone to

I completely understand what your saying. A mean im 5.7-5.8 in height 160lbs, i fight at 155lbs, but im quite large for my size, i blame it on good genetics. But iv always been more confident against the bigger guys wether rules played out or not, i think i was trying to point out the intimidation part in the way that if you can get this to work on a bigger guy, then hopefully you should have a good chance of not getting into too much damage.

2) Biggs and Williams were for sure tall and perhaps even 40 pounds heavier, but that is not a mountain that cannot be climbed.

My friend, several people have asked me that and I now have to consider getting there lol. I will start doing some seminars perhaps next year (summer) and although I know some money will have to come out of my pocket, I will try to get together a group who want to train for 2 days. If you "message" me your contact number, I will file it away and contact you when I am close to making it there.

Yeah i understand. The main point i was trying to get down to was the intimidation part, i still think intimidation plays a huge roll in the outcome of a fight with a guy who maybe bigger or smaller. But yeah not a great choice to go grabbing guys at 320lbs lol.

Thanks Sayf for this realistic video on size and weight I totally agree with you I'm 70 Kilos slender frame, in a fight I'm not going to go kick to kick punch to punch with a 90+ Kilo guy built like Ken Norton just after he's eaten four whole chickens. A swift kick to the nuts, or at the very least the attempt distracts him enough to bring his hands down, buying me valuable seconds for a very hard strike to the throat or knife hand to the eye, hard foot stump crushing toes if I want to leg it.

Height and weight always matter! I dont fight a guy 6'5 the same way I fight a guy 5'5. I also don't fight a guy that is 50lbs heavier than me the way I fight a guy 50lbs lighter than me. Like Sayf says you also have to be very careful fighting a guy stronger than you. My man who benches over 600lbs who has no formal fight training whatsoever beat literal fire out of a 5th degree black belt in Ju jitsu right in front of me about a year ago. I had to stop it. These things matter! blaq ninja

Yeah your completely right, i suppose im one of the lucky ones then. I had a friend who was killed due to picking a fight with a guy very large compared to him and a good fighter he was too. My friend ended up with his head fractured off the concrete from a large fall head first to the ground.

Size in Boxnig matters big time, even more so in full contact fighting. Every now and then you'll get genetic freaks who are just gifted with speed, power and natural reflexes. They are far and few.

To hit a man, you usually are in reach to be grabbed. Where will 5'8 BJ "hit" Brock where it will stop his forward momentum??? Next, "400 pound fighter" ain't the same as "GOOD" 400 pound fighter. Not to mention that 95% of fighters in the world are not, at least with a gi, Royce.

then the chances are that you will beat him, Like Sayf said in another video, you have to gradually knock down his confidence little by little and sure enough they start to show their cracks. Cus d amato who played a huge roll in tysons life believed very highly in the concept of intimidation, he claimed that intimidation was one of the biggest ways to defeat any man, no matter how big or small they are, and remember Tyson was only apparently 5.10 more to 5.11 in height and his

Clearly good fighters in sport and the street can fight above their natural weight. My favorite MMA fighter is BJ Penn (Anderson Silva agrees with me lol). He fought above his weight all of the time and even fought Lyoto to a stand still before the UFC! Brock Lesnar is a bumb and technically one of the worst fighters I have ever seen in the UFC! Can BJ beat him???? Hell know!!!!! Too big! Beyond a certain size, too much is lost of the smaller fighter's strong points. Power, etc.

All 3 of these guys have been known to fight bigger men in their time, especially jack dempsey who was notorious at the age of 15 for calling men out of pubs to fight with him, who tended to be alot bigger and stronger looking, but in the end he always was capable of knocking them out. I understand that its not a great idea to go fighting guys alot bigger and stronger looking but intimidation does play a huge roll in combat of any situation. If you can cause a guy to be fearful of you

Iv watched every single syf carman video now, and only this one seemed to catch my attention in a awkward way, and ill explain why. I do believe height and weight do have their advantages, but a chin is always a chin, iv always been told if it has a jaw then i can be knocked out. Im a huge fan of the old black and white boxing movies and i do collect footage from time to time, so i want to bring to your attention a guy names Jack Dempsey, Harry Grebb, Jake lamotta.

weight been at best 220lbs, but he fought bigger and stronger looking guys and killed them, until he went downhill. No disrespect to Sayf at all, but this was the only video that i had to disagree with. Keep the videos coming...

Iv been in many street fights over the years, 3 that i can remember were guys bigger than me, one of them notorious for stamping on people after he knocked them out. I got into a stand off with this guy, and i was scared believe me. So this guy grabbed me slammed me against a wall, headbutted me, tried allsorts of stuff. i managed to create some room for a nice left hook and BANG,all over, one punch and was finished. "Everbody has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth"

A dont know though, i reckon little BJ could land some decent shots on that slow coach, if Brock grabbed him then games over lol. Have you watched a fight between royce gracie and the 400lb fighter in japan?.

That 400lb fighter was fat, Brock isn't fat and is also very athletic and agile for his size. Lord have mercy on you if you believe BJ stands even a slim chance against Lesnar.
