This movie makes stay at home Moms look so “itchy” and annoying. I have to say I’m so proud of my Mom. I lost my Dad January 1st last year and my Mom has taken care of me and my three younger brothers. She homeschools them, does family worship, takes care of the finances, and is so brave for all of us even though she lost her best friend. There’s a true example of a stay at home Mom.

Wow, it's truly inspiring how much this woman struggles with having a loving husband who buys her gifts, has a job that can support 5 people so she can be a stay at home mom, having kids that are getting good grades and are pursuing their dreams instead of getting on drugs and joining gangs, having perfect mental health, living in an economy where she has her own house, indoor plumbing, electricity, air conditioning, a refrigerator, a washing machine, bedrooms, an entire kitchen, her own clothes, and their own car, and living in a society where she can openly worship her God, have a right to vote, a right to drive, a right to a fair trial, police protection, a military that can protect her, a right to get a job, start her own business, become an entertainer, get a higher education, become an artist, buy her own house, win the lottery, get into politics, freedom of speech, freedom to protest, a right to a lawyer, and has all the information human kind has available at her finger tips, I finally realize how good I have it in comparison to her! What an inspirational movie.

Its unclear if the film is implying that the son has a drinking problem - but wanted to imply that it happens off camera - or is the problem that the son is under 21 and sports might be his ticket to college.
@stramberrymilkyway
@stramberrymilkyway 7 жыл бұрын
David Bauler Yeah, but if he had a drinking problem, don't you think the parents would have done more then just make him quit football? Like put him in a rehab program? It's likely that he's under 21, but it still seems like the parents are over reacting. Kids do stupid stuff all the time. It's nothing new. She should be at least grateful that he isn't addicted to crack.

Regarding the necklace side story, my wife would’ve responded, “oh, that’s so sweet. I really appreciate it. Thing is, the one I had my eye on looks much the same but a little different.” And I’d likely say, “oh. Damn. I thought I got the right one. Do you want me to exchange it?” And she’d likely say, “well, whichever one of us is passing by the store in the near future can bring it in for an exchange. I really do appreciate that you went out of your way though. Thank you.” And she’d kiss me. And there’d be no awkward interactions about it from there on.

18:29 Alright, this made me legitimately angry. What is it to this lady what Alexa sees God as? She sounds like one of those Christians who makes sure to say all the spiritual buzzwords without any thought to what they actually mean. Yeah, saying that God is almighty is clearly putting Him in SUCH a small box. And then she goes on to say that she wanted the group to be a safe space? Yeah, sure. Criticizing peoples' answers for not being as "spiritual" as yours is clearly providing that.

IDK. I didn’t think it was that offensive. I mean, that’s something I could see someone saying if they were trying to have an in-depth discussion about the Biblical God. Disagreement and criticism is part of discourse, but there’s a difference between attacking an idea and a person. I think that what the other lady was trying to say was that she doesn’t feel that gendering God is correct (the main character refers to God as father) because it limits God’s role as a deity to all. I think it’s a valid point to discuss.

Blech, this movie gave me bad flashbacks to a couple of "women's retreats" I was dragged along to back in the day when I used to semi-attend this one bland upper middle class white suburban church, where everyone would put on plastic smiles and pretend to be best friends, but then would get super judgy and dramatic over dumb, pointless things. Tarshish Jupiter that’s a great question. I remember asking about the “stakes” in the film and their focus. They said that they wanted people to feel that even under simple stuff like cheating or a small drink it is important to be honest. That’s not a direct quote but a gist. Mind you the whole reason I was on that project was because my family is friends with the writing family and I was just happy to be there, I wasn’t too vocal about my opinion

When I read the title of the movie, my instant (unoriginal) idea was that some punk football player falls in love with the school's Good Christian Girl™ named Faith and his pursuit to get her attention leads him to God, which miraculously resolves his daddy issues and uncooperativeness in the football field. Then I saw what this movie actually is and made me actually rather watch my sappy, cliche, made-up flick instead.

Yeah. Also, wouldn't the top notch, high school football player know that underage drinking will get you kicked off the team? When you play high school sports, you expect to get tested for drugs and, yeah, that means alcohol. The level of awkwardness that his parents have about talking about it, seems more fitting for say, parents talking with their teen son about sex.

The football player should have known not to drink (it is U.S. law) and then he parents are too chicken to sit and down and say "hey, son, don't break the law, ok?" which the parents should have been very firm about but instead they're really awkward about it. It doesn't seem very real. Same with the necklace thing, what husband wouldn't be like "oh, I got you the wrong one? That's fine that you exchanged it."

How about a story on the Dad who works his butt off all day everyday so his family and self absorbed materialistic wife who spends each day at coloring book club, whining about her life, and you know, NOT WORKING can live a great life? This was perhaps the most cringy and frustrating of all the movies - YES - including Miracle Man. This whole movie taught the viewers that playing a victim when your life almost literally couldn’t get any easier is the right thing to do. And those family ‘problems’ are seriously all very typical family problems to overcome. This movie is terrible.

I agree, Kevin, even as a woman I was annoyed by how these moms were. They were all so fake! I wish this movie was centered on the Bible instead of some dumb coloring book.

It really bothers me that they just leave their ice cream cones to melt on that table. Like someone has to clean that up. I don’t care what kind of news I got, I’m taking my ice cream with me.

After the locker room speech, I'm convinced the center channel wasn't mixed loud enough in the stereo conversion, not that the movie was mixed poorly.

That could be it. I thought the same thing. But I bought this movie on DVD just because it sounded like this on Pureflix and Christian Cinema. The DVD wasn’t in surround, so I don’t even know where a surround version would be.

Say Goodnight Kevin That's hilarious. If the DVD isn't surround, then I guess it really was mixed that poorly.

You know, you could be right. Like, that is what I thought it was at first, which is why I got the DVD. But maybe I did something wrong. I mean, good observation. I know I'll be sure to keep an eye out for this in future reviews. If I messed it up, I'm super embarrassed. :-P When I watched it on Christian Cinema, It was so hard to hear what they were saying, so when I got the dvd and it did the same thing, I was so frustrated at that point, I just assumed it was probably just the movies fault.

Yeah. Some denominations have an "after party" event after the funeral service. Sometimes it is treated as a wake, if open casket/visitation is involved, and sometimes just something that is traditionally done. While I had been to one for a Lutheran family, most of the ones that I have attended have been for Catholic or Jewish families. I'd be curious to know if the funeral after party is an ethnic/denominational traditional.

David Bauler My family is Irish...off the boat. After the “WAKE,” we have a gathering that you might refer to as an after party. More or less, we have a party that the dearly departed would love to attend, and in a sense the dearly departed is the guest of honor; we all tell stories of our favorite time with the dearly departed-some of the stories make us laugh, some make us cry, but they all help us celebrate who the person was to us in life. Oh yeah, and after each story, we all cheers the departed with a drink...as I said, we’re Irish. =]

This is so sad, Alexa should play Despacito. Also why do all these football games happen during the day? Most games happen at night especially later in the season when it's late October or even November.
