Saying goodbye to my apartment...the final move-out push

Well if you're a real one you know what happened to the middle chunk of this video...RIP to my 64 GB chip with some prime moving content. Still thought I would share the final goodbye to my beloved apartment after tearing through all my belongings for 3 days. I guess what they say about moving is true: you always loose something lol. I lived for a year in Boston as I was doing a fellowship at Harvard, and leaving that apartment was so difficult because it was a great year where I learned a lot, I loved the apartment, my work, the people. It was hard to end that chapter in my life, because I was also ending the ‘training’ chapter in my life, and I was moving to another country all together, and especially because I wasn’t sure about what was to follow!

I totally get the feeling you had when saying goodbye to your apartment. I absolutely felt the same when I had to say goodbye to mine when I moved back to my home country after living abroad for 5 years. It's the most bittersweet feeling out there. I moved back for a good cause, but that doesn't mean it won't hurt.

Not an apartment, but moving 500 miles away from my home state and my family for school was really scary. I was only sad to leave my 1st apartment that I moved to in Chicago at 19 years old. I moved out at 22 and it was a time full of amazing memories and adventures. Wow 🥺💕 moving out of your first real apartment very emotional, but financially you'll be saving so much to get a place that's twice as nice as that apartment and better 💕 For me, the hardest apartment to leave was probablh my 2nd apartment i lived in by myself. It was 2 bedroom apartment, with the biggest windows that brought in so much needed light. Living in that extensive apartment was lonely, but I loved cooking and relaxing in it, which I think was the most fun. But I found a new apartment, thats just as wonderful and im sure you will too 💕

I studied in Oxford for a while and leaving my dorm room there was definitely really hard. I made so many amazing friends and it was just hard saying goodbye to the city and some of the friends who live in South Korea, whom I will probably never see again. Falling in love with Oxford and having to say goodbye to it was really heartbreaking. It is such a romantic, old city literally made for dreamers.

I have only lived in two apartments besides my family home, but moving from my first apartment was a bit hard - it was only a one room apartment (if that’s how you say it) but it was my first own home 🏠 I made a lot of memories there, I learned a lot, I graduated in that apartment because of COVID, made good friends in my building and it just felt very strange leaving that place, but I had to leave because it was a study apartment and I finished school 😣 but the apartment I moved to in May was an upgrade and now I love it here and it feels like home 🤩 still need some stuff, but I’m slowly getting there 💪🏼 I’m sure you made the right decision and you will find a nice new home when you are ready 🥰

I moved two times in full (moved house with my parents and sisters) and two times we had to stay away from home for 1 to 3 months during summer to have some necessary renovation works done. The first time I actually rember moving was the hardest: it was the house me and my younger sister were born into and we loved it, it was spacious, luminous and fresh and we loved the energy...but when I was 10 we had to move due to my grandfather death: we went to live with grandma in her house and there my youngest sister was born. We still live there (my nan died only 4 years later), the house is big and there are gree areas around, it's a safe neighbourhood, but also far from the town and no one drives due to health problems, the house is very hot (no surviving withou AC) and the bus heading to town is a mess, plus if you have to get anything, there's nothing for km around here, all teh schools and universities are quite far from our area and we don't like the house vibes. We hope to move out soon, we did it for my grandma, but looking back, we should have find another big place to live all together, no one was satisfied in the end.

I felt the same when I was moving out of my apartment to live with my boyfriend in his (bigger) apartment. I own the apartment, fully renovated it, loved the outcome, lived there and was very happy there, now I rent it. It was a logical move to leave it and rent it, but I was really sad.

Another important point to make: not that I thought you were saying this at all, but you can still be independent and free even while living in your parents' house! I don't know about your parents' rules or anything like that, but when I lived with my parents in the first semester of my first year and my second year of university, they treated me more like a roommate who they still parented sometimes when they needed it. I didn't have a curfew, a bedtime, or any rules like that. I was allowed to do whatever I wanted as long as I went to class and kept my grades up. I'm sure your parents will figure out something like that for you! And, another bonus of living with your parents is that you have somebody to cook for you again! Even after having lived on my own for a grand total of a year and a half (combining the semester I lived on campus with the year now that I've been in this apartment), I still don't know how to cook all that well and I always look forward to when I go over to either of my parents' houses because both of them are better cooks than me XD I'm sure you will be on your own again soon, Kiara, and until you are I know you will make the best of living at your parents' house! One thing I admire about you is how you always make the best of every situation no matter how good or bad it is and do your best to keep a positive attitude no matter what. I'm looking forward to watching this next chapter! I've been with you ever since your junior year move-in vlog and it's crazy to get to watch all these milestones with you!

You didn't wrap anything you put in the storage unit to protect it? Bold choice. I've had enough experiences with storage units 😐 I had a love hate relationship with my previous apartment because it was a two story apartment with high ceilings in the bedrooms, huge windows, and a view of pine trees and a nice grassy area. But it had endless plumbing problems. I'm talking there's a waterfall in your kitchen level. It became clear the owners didn't want to properly fix the building so it was time to leave. It's a shame because had the building been maintained as it should have been, I would have stayed there.

Ugh that is such a bummer when a major con weighs on the love of a place! I've never has a storage unit before so we shall see how everything goes...most stuff I truly care about is in plastic sealed bins so we should be okay!

Awwww, sad but you have your own place again soon! You should have packed your mattress in a plastic protector before you put it in your storage unit. 💕 The hardest apartment I had to leave was the one where I lived with my husband. So many memories packed into that little place. I moved into a new place but I will always have our memories with me. RIP My Love 💔❤️‍🩹

I know I thought about getting one of those covers, but the place is super clean and new so hopefully it will be fine! Always so hard to lead when there are so many memories in a place, good thing we have photos and our minds to help us remember all the great times!
