Good luck, Michael. Starting out with VIPKID over two years ago is when I found your channel. Now, watching your videos are like catching up with an old friend. Sometimes I would watch during the day and sometimes in the wee hours of the morning over a bowl of cereal waiting for a class to start. They have been relaxing and educational. I was so happy to add, and use with confidence, Meg and Mike puppets because of you! I have used other tips, too. My online teaching is better because of you. I will always be grateful. I hope and pray the best for you in life, brother. I will echo what a couple others said, “Dino is crying.” 😢 But, you have to do what’s best for you. You keep doing great things, I know you will. I too like to enjoy teaching, it isn't just a paycheck. I'm just not sure if I can go back to handling a group. Getting older, slowing down, and not having the best internet stresses me out. The hours aren't the best either. You have given me much to think about.

I was with Vipkid for about a year then left. I think when I came in it was going downhill…slowly then fast. A bit sad but it is what it is. Now I’m on Outschool and a lot happier.

Thanks for the information on Magic Ears and group classes! That answered some questions I had. I have taught brick-and-mortar classes with up to 25 students. TBH, 1-on-1 teaching felt a little intimidating to me. Small groups sound like the way to go for me. I'm glad to hear that Magic Ears has similar host controls to Zoom, being able to control cameras and microphones during class.

If you’re most comfortable with small groups then it sounds like Magic Ears is perfect for you! And yes, having those extra host controls really helps.

I have also become somewhat dissatisfied with VIPKID. Had knee replacement and just didn’t go back. It was the right decision for me, too! Best of luck, Michael.

So sad because I used to love teaching for VIPKID, but I phased out, too. I’ve starting sleeping again which feels magical. I miss my students, but I wasn’t enjoying it anymore. I do miss my group REP classes though. Maybe I’ll give ME Group classes a go.

I'm interested in Magic Ears but their pc requirement seem higher than other companies. I have an a10 7860k processor I believe somewhere they say A10 and below isn't suitable?

I actually still make more with VIPKid because my base is 8.5 with them. I’m like 500 classes off getting the better starting pay with me. I really enjoyed the platform though. I was managing at another ESL company but they dissolved so I’m back at square 1 . 😞

VIPKid is a huge disappointment. My bookings have fallen by 80% compared to last year. No clear reason why. Plus, I feel pressure to tell parents that their kids are great ... even when many are far from great ... to avoid negative feedback. So, moving on.

How does feedback work? I worked with a company that offered two students per class and feedback took twice as long, of course.

Do you get paid for each student? A lot of these companies are going the group method and get paid per student. You're getting ripped off if you teach more than 1 student at a time and get paid for 1 student.
