Oh yes, Michael! I was thinking and trying to recollect how did I get to your channel and I’ve remembered! I tried to find some videos of native speakers about props in esl class, no matter online or offline. I was amazed by your ideas - you have come to the point of spectacular online classes! So, props are definitely yours!

I was scared to create curriculum at first, but it’s actually quite fun! And yes, outschool is definitely less boring than teaching the same ESL lessons over and over again lol

Thank you! It’s so nice in Nova Scotia this time of year it felt like a shame not to show some of it off on video

Wow, I have SO much to say. This video hit the nail on the head. I have almost EVERY certification (1-8) and all but 2 supplemental certification. I work at GGK once in a while too. I also started with OUTSCHOOL and love how we can teach completely different classes and times. I like the advice you gave about changing little things like standing up and rewards. I’m going to try that. I’m the type of person who could never have a regular 9-5 job.

Loved this video! I definitely go through stages of feeling this way, luckily my job is pretty flexible so I can mix it up by teaching different age levels, whether that's online or in class. Also, I'm like a kid with a new puppet/prop! Haha

Ah, thank you so much for this video! I teach for Qkids and GGK, and I have a contract with VIPKid but I've yet to have a booking. I also tutor on Cambly and Cambly kids. I just got accepted to Outschool and I'm planning to teach yoga and mindfulness classes very soon. Everything you touched on really resonates with me. I plan to start teaching standing some of the time and making some new props! Happy teaching, friend! PS your dog is cute! 😍❤

Great video! Here's the thing - I think you're a gypsy at heart. Take it from this gypsy (of the quasi-professional ice show variety), you need to get back on tour! That will feed your soul. I know, I know, not a great time to be a performer (especially in the US) right now. Maybe there's a hybrid form of teaching English in another country where you can perform on the side. Luckily with VIPKID and Gogo Kid, you can take the job with you.

Oh sheesh. You're lucky you can sit down on and in between those rocks. Here in the US, many places that have these rocks, also have snakes. In Florida, water moccasins and rattlers both like to sun themselves on these rocks and hide in the crevices as well. We don't sit down on our rocks like that... LOL!
@MichaelVenn

That sounds terrifying! Thankfully we only have a few garden snakes around here, nothing too scary or dangerous

I am getting bored or unmotivated as an ESL tutor. Maybe because I have no colleague to talk with. Like I am always in my room. If there are no students, I just sit and watch KZbin. I only work 4 hours a day and still get bored. What should I do?

It can be difficult to not have colleagues to talk with. That’s why the internet is so good! Have you tried teaching a different subject? Or perhaps it’s time for a career change?
