What's the difference between this method and the Tauc methods?
@SAYPhysics3 жыл бұрын
I have explained the Tauc method in another video. Basically, it depends on the shape and complexity of the profile. Thanks

Thank you very much .What is the difference between UV and DRS
@SAYPhysics Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the appreciation. UV-Vis and DRS are both spectroscopic techniques used for the analysis of materials. UV-Vis measures the absorption of UV and visible light by a sample in solution, while DRS measures the reflectance of light by a sample in the solid phase over a wider range of wavelengths. UV-Vis is commonly used to determine the concentration of a substance or the presence of chromophores, while DRS provides information about the electronic structure of materials, such as band gaps and electronic transitions.

where does the 1240 value coming from?
@SAYPhysics Жыл бұрын
There's some calculations behind it, which I've discussed in this video. Thanks How to calculate band gap energy from UV-Vis absorption kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn2ohImJqL-gosk

The value of 1240 eV-nm is a conversion factor that is used to convert between the energy of a photon in electron volts (eV) and the wavelength of the photon in nanometers (nm). Specifically, 1240 eV-nm is equal to the product of the speed of light (in nm/s) and Planck's constant (in eV-s): 1240 eV-nm = (1240 eV/nm) = hc where h is Planck's constant (6.626 x 10^-34 J-s) and c is the speed of light (2.998 x 10^8 m/s). The value of 1240 eV-nm is a commonly used conversion factor in semiconductor physics, and it is used in the Tauc plot to express the photon energy in units of electron volts (eV) rather than wavelength in nanometers (nm).
