In another site, I found this comment that Lataratara, is actually from “La Tierra,Tierra “ …in Spanish meaning “the world”. It is part of the lyrics of a lullaby “You are my World” parents sang to their children as they put them to sleep. Learned something new!!

Before my father died he was very sick, its not that i dont love him, i am just too scared that one day he'll be gone,i cant explain it..it seems im in denial of things...i know he's in pain but i just turned my back at him because it hurts me more seeing him at that state...now its been 6 yrs since he's gone and i regret the times i wasted ..i should've told him i love him...i'll never get the chance again....

I remember this lullaby that i always sing to my son latara before i came here in abroad to work..for my son and my papa i said to him that its my time to repay you of gratitute for taking care of us..before i go i said to him dont work now i will support you and my son ..thats why im crying when im lestening to this song..i wnt to go home now 3 yrs is quiet long away from my father and son...i want to spend time with my papa his old now..

I understand how you feel as I also wasn’t very vocal about my feelings with my parents growing up. But when I moved to another country away from them I started being more vocal and telling them I love them, even more so after this pandemic happened because I realized life is short and you don’t know how much time you have left with someone. Warning: Long Message ahead. Message below aims to answer some of your questions you have in mind. Hope this helps. (1) MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) (2) Mapa = Map (English) (3) MaPa = Mata and Pat (Eyes & Feet) (4) Lataratara = There is no direct translation (Prolly) for this. This is a lullaby, a hymn normally our Mom makes every time she puts us to sleep. Remember our [1]MaPa normally just utter any sound tucking us in. Our Map is our [1]MaPa in this Life journey. Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. The release of the magical song was intended between the mother’s day and father’s day since the song is for them. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). The Map that we can bring anywhere we go. The map that contains all the leanings and guidance our [1]MaPa gave us. In the Filipino culture (or prolly in other culture), we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still, we want to serve them and it’s time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the tiresome days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. There’s this Filipino saying “isusubo nalang nila, ibibigay pa sayo” This can be translated as our parent always put us first. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa. For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute. Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them. Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. IF the song “What” is proudly swinging our Flags, this “Where” is talking about our Origin, our parents and wherever we go, we will always go back to ur family. This Love letter hits us Filipino the most because it’s on the original language. The world deserves to hear this on their own language. Petition for our boys (EsBi) to do so. Omg yes. I get what you meant about not being able to express your feelings to your parents. I've always been the 'independent' one among my siblings. I mean, not the "independent" independent, more like the one that's indifferent to being all mushy-sweet and all. Like, my dad works really far and he only visits home for about twice or thrice a year and that's only staying for a week or two, then he goes B-bye again (thus, I get reaaally awkward with him pampering me when I got older) also, I started being able to live away from my mum at a *very* young age. And by young, I mean when my aunt "borrowed" me from my mum to live with her for a few months. I rode a plane for the 1st time without her, I slept alone on a room without her, I lived without my mum for like 6 months and I was only 4. My aunt was shocked I didn't even cry or look for my mum even for a tiny bit it almost seemed like I didn't even miss my mum. I mean, I quite did but I probably didn't make a fuss because I knew then and there, at the end of the day, I was eventually going home and seeing my mum when my aunt finishes "borrowing" me. Anyway, the fact that I express my "love" for my family in a different *'unique'* way. As in, the exact opposite of it and by that, I mean I'm practically what you'd call the 'misfit' and blacksheep of the fam. It's not that I get shy about it (OK, yes. I *do* get shy because I *really* hate showing them a soft side of me, knowing the fact that I grew up practically showcasing my tough side but yknow what I mean) and yea. There are times I say I love u to my parents but those are more of like with the teasing tone whenever I did something wrong, want something or just generally want to tease them. Whenever I *do* tell I love u to them 'seriously', it gets *REAAALLY* awkward that it end with me laughing it off after a couple of seconds of dreadful silence. It just *isn't* me! Ironically tho, after I watched the MV and any other MVs or movies that has some sad moments about parents and all, I always get *SO* emotional. Like WTH is wrong with me😭😂

I understand how you are feeling about your mom. i feel the same way too about my dad. i'm grateful that my therapy helped me to understand why i feel this way. it's because i feel helpless because i cannot help them with their own struggles. that's why ultimately we feel kind of angry at them for bearing it on their own when you want to do something about it but at the same time, you can't do anything (at least in ways you think you should be able to help them). sending lots of hugs to you! you can make your parents listen to this song if you're not the verbal type of person. im sure they would get what you're saying :)

"I won't be lost anytime For I brought the map....." It was a play with words. MAPA means map in English and those are the combination of the first (or the last 😁) syllable of the words mama and papa. They won't ever be lost because they have the map/mama and papa to guide them. 🥰 That's one way of dealing with depression, you talk about some of the sadness and frustration that you feel. It'll be cathartic. Get it out of your chest. It can be quite frustrating with taking care of a parent that is ill. We just really need to be patient and think of ways of better handling them. We can seek professional help. We sometimes get caught up with too much emotions that we're unable to see clearly, think logically and rationally. We can't do everything on our own so that's why we seek help. There are people who are willing to lend a helping hand.
