Can you just use the existing mil spec adjustable buffer tube or do you have to get one specific for the brace ?
@CarbonPrecisionLLC6 жыл бұрын
The buffer tube that was on the pistol was a proprietary tube from the shockwave blade. The provided buffer tube is a standard mil-spec tube so you can use anyone you want. Legally, you can't turn a rifle lower into a pistol, so placing a pistol brace and sub 16" barrel on an existing rifle is a no go!

Great video, I am finishing my pistol build install with the SBA3 tomorrow. So here's the most debated question/topic, do you stake the castle nut, I noticed you didn't. My AR isn't staked and was custom built by a very good gunsmith and I have had zero issues. Just curious, I will be adding the Law Tactical folder soon and so I am not going to stake, just torque it per spec's which I believe are 40 foot pounds, Thanks.
@CarbonPrecisionLLC5 жыл бұрын
I didn’t stake mine because I switch stuff out all the time. If you put some witness marks on it with a paint marker, you can monitor it backing out.

@terryedmond44926 жыл бұрын
I don't see the gain, but if you added that to a Ruger 10/22 Charger pistol, you made a HUGE difference!
@CarbonPrecisionLLC6 жыл бұрын
It would make quite the difference! If you are referring to the brace itself, is adjustable instead of fixed, which allows me to stow it in a smaller case then extend it to shoot. An adjustable length of pull on the brace also allows different users to get comfortable without pulling out a hex key to adjust it. Thanks for the comment!
@RJ.Ev.G6 жыл бұрын
Can a different carbine tube be used, or does the brace have to stay with the provided tube? Strike industries makes a really nice tube I’m interested in.
@CarbonPrecisionLLC6 жыл бұрын
Any standard mil-spec tube is compatible. The SI tube may be proprietary and have a different dimension to fit with their Viper Stocks/braces. I would suggest using the one provided and spending that money elsewhere on the build (Trigger, optic, BCG).
@abnr19836 жыл бұрын
I'm still fairly new to assembling AR-15s. Is that a mil-spec buffer spring or do I need a different one if I'm going to run a 10.5" or lower length barrel? I'm a little confused because the SBA3 uses a mil-spec buffer tube.
@CarbonPrecisionLLC6 жыл бұрын
It is a standard carbine buffer spring with a standard carbine buffer. This combo has been working well with the mil-spec buffer tube, but if there are any issues changing buffer weights or try different springs. Flat wire or a captured spring system have produced good results too.
@jakenutt46875 жыл бұрын
Being that this is collapsible does it not make the pistol an sbr?
@CarbonPrecisionLLC5 жыл бұрын
No. The definition of a stock vs a brace does not include collapsibility.
@kalashnikovmania20746 жыл бұрын
With this brace fully extended on a 10.5 upper will it reach 26 inches OAL or over making you able to install a forward grip?
@CarbonPrecisionLLC6 жыл бұрын
That is an excellent question and I believe it has to be a fixed OAL of 26" or more to mount a vertical grip. Currently, I'm using hand stops on all of my pistols and rifles.
@Corelogik736 жыл бұрын
The 26" needs to be from muzzle to the end of the buffer tube to qualify for a vfg. The stock/brace is NOT included in that measurement. Neither is the muzzle device, unless it is pinned and welded.
