The German side of the route (through Memmingen) was only electrified very recently. The train used to be diesel-hauled Swiss coaches with a reversal and change to electric loco at Lindau Hbf (on an island in the lake). After electrification, they swapped stations in Lindau to avoid the reversal. Lake Constance/Bodensee is lovely - Bregenz had a seaside feel when I stayed there in summer, people swimming and sunbathing on the beach etc. Alternatively Friedrichshafen in Germany is an interesting spot, offering Zeppelin flights (not cheap!).

Thank you for watching - appreciated. Bregenz looked absolutely stunning and I’d like to explore that that area a bit more.

I took the reverse of this trip back in 2017 before the German electrification. As eastwestChris mentions, electrics were exchanged for diesels at the island station of Lindau. Ive seen videos of that operation on KZbin. It was an enjoyable and slightly different trip.

Very much enjoyed this, Geordie. What a great train! If I may be presumptuous and offer a tiny suggestion. I'd leave the text on a little longer, especially when there are four or five lines. When you are watching the video and trying to read as well, you need a little more time. There are also some minor spelling issues, but they hardly matter. Overall I enjoyed this very much and I am sure you will get many followers in the coming weeks and months. Good luck to you.

Hi mate, thank you for watching and for your comment. Absolutely, I'll take on board what you say, I have just invested in some new gear so editing should be better.

Unfortunately, I dislike 1st class at SBB. That of the DB is much more comfortable, classier and the service is also much better - too bad. Hopefully there will be a German ICE soon (at least as far as Lindau/Bregenz).

Don't book 1st class on Swiss rail! It's a rip off. You can't pick your seats so they put me and my partner across from someone. We had no leg room and no privacy and couldn't switch seats plus the bathroom didn't work.

Be better with narration than captions. reading is a nuisance.
