Now run the 205 cc TFS 11R head for comparison please as it’s the definitive competition for this class head on a SBF. Also thank you for the SBF content, more please! 👍

AFR 205's on a small block Ford are just a BADASS head!! These heads have been puttin' in work for a lot of people, for many years now. It's nice to see them recognized for how good they TRULY are.

Out of the box, AFR heads have always my go to for SB Fords. I do a lot of street/strip engines and not so many max builds, and AFR runs the best for what I do. I can get some great performance in all ranges, using pump gas with out of the box AFR heads, and with some normal clean up and good valve seat work, they will run with anything I go against.

I just picked up a set of sbf 225's with new valves and springs freshly decked 58cc., with Jesel 1.6 shaft rockers. I hope they flow great on my 363ci Dart Iron Eagle 8.2 that I'm building

Hey brother.....could you please do a comparison of these AFR's with the Project X 210cc heads for SBF please? or at least a video with the Project X 210cc by themselves..... Planning a project and I wanna know TRUE numbers. Love your stuff man I'm so glad someone is doing some real work and cutting through the BS when it comes to heads.

I wonder what the Cleveland style heads would do
@dennisrobinson80082 жыл бұрын
they kick ass. Like 235cfm @.3" 335@.5", 370@.7". The low lift flow is noticeably higher than inline valve heads due to the valves being canted to open toward the center of the bore.

I have a set of 205s for a 351w stroker. It's a great head for a street motor with the flow numbers.

Eric, this is an incredible coincidence! I have an old set of #1450 that came back from AFR years ago after they installed new guides under a warranty. I haven't given them a second thought until I began a new build for my 93 Cobra. I bead blasted clean and found cracks in several of the valve guide "veins". Firat impression was 🤔. I continued to inspect and evaluate..... Turns out I do not have the valves, springs, locks, or retainers. So looks like I'm in need of some advice: I would hate to bother you with a call....I'll look for an email address.

Along another line of thinking, how much street useable power is left on the table when we buy aftermarket crate street performance engines? How much would be gained if the supplied intakes and heads were traded for professionally ported and prepped top end?
@AmericanThunderАй бұрын
With those numbers, I'd be looking for a cam with a 1" valve lift for my street car. lol

Good videos. Thx for all the info. Question- how does boost change head flow at lift. Eg. When i add 7psi boost does flow increase or same flow but more density?
@HASTE3479 ай бұрын
Just for clarification, the older AFR SBF 205 heads don't flow this well? I've got a set and would like to know if that has been your experience.

I have a 195s competition ported on a 393W 10.1 compression and .560/.570lift and 238/240 duration cam LSA 114 And heavily ported rpm air gap Think its a good combo?
@foxbodysandfreedom85952 жыл бұрын
All be it for street use aswell, not looking for straight steet engine
@clarkmcmahan15952 жыл бұрын
Will make good power with that combo...especially on the bottom .
@cstavro2 жыл бұрын
Imho 226/230 on a 107-108 LSA will be much snappier. I'd use .600+ lift to make the head work harder. It flows enough for well over 600 hp. it'll be better all around with the same quality idle.

Can run 11-12:1 cr on 93 octane with aluminum heads and you should, it's worth 4% every cr. What's your heads flow numbers?

I agree with chris, that 114 lsa is not helping you produce power.

QUESTION: Would matching the exhaust runner to a Fel-pro #1487 work well and support N/A up to 7k-ish RPM? It would raise the exhaust runner roof outlet about 3/16...
@WeingartnerRacing2 жыл бұрын
I don’t match to gasket on exhaust. I raise the roof and maybe widen it. I don’t drop the floor.
@arturozarate17522 жыл бұрын
@@WeingartnerRacing I don't drop the floor either. If you've used the 1487 you'd see that the floor lines up. The width is slightly larger, and the roof is raised about a 1/4". What I'm getting at is, would raising the roof on the exhaust runner of the AFR #1450 be beneficial?

Nice video! But I could care less about a Ford head 🙄🙄🙄🙄! 😂😂😂😂 I’m dying to know how you did @ the dyno??? I’m hoping that you actually got better numbers than I was thinking 🤔! Oh I forgot to mention, if you are worried about bad luck 🍀, you should never paint a engine yellow 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Between my boss & two other top notch engine builders have had nothing but bad luck with engines they built that were painted yellow! Just the two my boss ever painted yellow both blew up in short order 🙄🙄🙄🙄! It was back in the late 80s early 90s! The first one was a SB Chrysler 340 in a older 🚤! He dynoed it, it only made like 365hp & it broke a factory connecting rod 🤬🤬🤬🤬! Luckily it was at low RPM & only destroyed the oil pan! The block was ok 👍🏻! This is why he always replaces stock rods with something like Scat has! The second one was a nicely built 289 SBF For a old Shelby Mustang 🙄🙄🙄🙄! That one was also dynoed & made around 400 horsepower! Well my boss tried to warn the customer about painting the engine yellow 🙄🙄🙄🙄, especially in a Shelby Mustang! Well that one dropped a brand new stainless intake valve on something like the 10th lap of a Ford Shelby road race down in Flordia! Luckily the customer had a basic 302 that we freshened & he was able to shove that in & was able to compete in rest of the racing week! It was also able to be fixed, but he had to completely port another head, something the owner also had from years of collecting! That stuff was way before me, but they had a name for those engines! They were called the big yellow Ka Plunkers 😂😂😂😂! JS! But somehow you have had good luck as all your junk is Yellow 🙄🙄🙄🙄😂😂😂😂! Thanks for the video, anything I put together with AFR heads made decent power! Especially for a out of the box 📦 head, with some minor cleanup! Mainly street rod engines!
