Now I am old and in a townhouse with a small patio area I can’t keep in good shape. Lots of people need help that can’t be seen from the street or alley (if your location has alleys; mine doesn’t). All the parking is behind the townhouses, so there is an alley of sorts in my situation. Single family houses don’t.

@enid0mom10 ай бұрын
@@12369ja I know that. Safety glasses keep grass from getting your eyes. It happened to my Dad one time. Ear plugs protect your hearing from the loud gas engines on the equipment you use. I was trimming the edge of my lawn one time and the blade hit a stone that shattered the rear glass on my minivan. (Laugh if you want, I LOVED that thing.) ".....all they have to do is when they are mowing is keep walking in a straight line and help...." It is NOT always that easy. Often the pride of the neighbour ( that needs the help ) WILL get in the way. I know - I have a neighbour I tried to help. After mowing his lawn several times for him ( it was fine with his wife, but not with him ), he demanded to pay me. I politely refused ( I didn't want to become an employee, again, at my age !) and told him I was doing it to help a friend. He still said no. So, their lot is "that lot" on our street, now..... You can't always help people that refuse it. Earlier this year I gifted him with a little used, self propelled mower in like new and good working condition ( to take a lot of the physical, pushing effort out of the job ), and he just seldom uses that, too, which gets the lawn back to the problem of being very overgrown and hard to cut, again, even with a self-propelled mower... My neighbor who was elderly and died had her house sit vacant for 1 year until the contents could be removed by a distant relative. I offered to keep the lawn mowed as they didn't have a lawn service. One day as I was cleaning her yard, a male neighbor came over and told me to stop or he would call the police. He said I shouldn't be doing that as it was the lawyers' responsibility as he had control of the property. All calls to him went unanswered. The yard made the house look abandoned and likely to be broken into. After my husband had a few words with that man, I continued to maintain the yard. But none of the neighbors offered to help.

true - we have laws about not having sharp edges on our vehicles that could make injuries worse in an accident, especially as they make the truck that bit wider, and overhand close to the footpath - I think part of that worry is how narrow some of our roads are - bu it does look verey easy to find what you need always whilst maximizing space inside the truck bed

With the garage door being open a little bit means that someone likely broke into the house at some point while it was sitting abandoned. I always tell people to lock their garage doors to the rails and kill the power to the opener if the house is going to be unoccupied longer than a week. Garage doors are a surprisingly vulnerable entry point in most houses.

Many people work, some long hours, some commute long drives, when you have only your limited spare time to take care of your own property, there may not be enough time left to do a neighbors lawn, especially once it gets out of hand. Our city offers tools on loan to residents for situations like these, a deposit is required, but refundable if returned in good condition.

@blueribb99 Жыл бұрын
I agree about the collection of the trimmings. A lot of the lawn makeover people leave them. The time to bag them and cost of disposing of them must be taken into consideration. I wonder if the lawn underneath suffers from that many clippings piled on top. The homeowner surely can't (or won't) remove them.

@@blueribb99 I watch several lawn care channels and several clean up the clippings. Blademate is a beast, you should watch some of his videos if you haven't already, also M&D Lawn Care and CJ Mowing clean up if there are piles of clippings like that. Still, he is helping them out and making it look much better than it was. If I were the homeowner you can bet I would be out there raking up all that grass and those long stems in the back yard.
