Scafell Pike, Lake District from Seathwaite

This was our last day in the Lake District so we decided to make use of the great weather and climb England's highest peak... Scafell Pike. It was a glorious day.
If you've never been up, give it a go. Hope you enjoy the scenery.

Hiked this route a few weeks ago. Nothing like the conditions in your video. very wet and windy with low visibility.Quite challenging. Lost a couple times.

Thanks for the comment, our weather was really mixed that week as well. One day we tried walking to Great Gable and had to turn back. A GPS app is a good option?

Hi Robert, many many thanks for sharing. I have really enjoyed two of your videos, this one and the Haystacks one. Like you I walk with my dog - a black Lab called Max. Together we have done Haystacks twice and really enjoyed it. We are back in the lakes this October, and weather permitting intend to follow your footsteps to Scafell. I use the OS map app, which I have found to be excellent. I back this up with a map and compass. Could you give a little more info on the actual route you used? Once again, thank you. Jono

Hi Jono, thanks for the reply. We had good weather that day although I think the dog enjoys it whatever the weather. I have tried the OS Map app but never got on with it, I just use a map and compass. We started from Seathwaite and had no trouble parking even though there were a lot of cars. Head towards Stockley Bridge taking a left thereafter so that Seathwaite Fell is on your right as you walk up. Great End comes in to sight ahead, the path naturally goes to the left and up and over. Take a right towards Esk House, turn left just after Esk House and go up over the boulders towards Broad Crag. The route up Scafell becomes self evident. From the summit take the north west path, and bear right at the bottom towards 'Corridor Route'. This will take you towards Sty Head. Eventually Seathwaite Fell appears again on your right as you head back. The circular route then takes you back over Stockley Bridge. I hope you have a good time.

@@robertmorgan5941 Hi Robert. Max and I managed to do the walk two weeks ago and gosh it was a long walk. I'll be interested to know how long it took you. I'm rather slow now since Arithus started in my knee, but it took us 8.5 hours. We did the last two miles in the dark! I found it very tough and hard going over the very large areas of rockfall - they seemed to go on forever. But That's one marked off my bucket list! Regards Jono

@@jonnow1234 good job on completing the walk. I can’t really remember how long it took us, probably around 4-5 hours. It is a decent walk however the views are great. Well done 👍
