Keep the aesthetic going and put the end brackets back on the seat, you know it makes sense! I love its chunkiness btw, could be the ultimate in child-proof furniture!

Scaffolding boards are water treated so no need

Nice outcome. I use PU glue for those sort of joints, expands nice and tight.

Very nice mate. Only thing I'd have done differently would be to cut a half circle at the bottom of each leg, so that each leg had 2 points of contact rather than 1. It'd make it more stable, especially on uneven floors.

Always on the look out for scaffold hardware in skips etc so I could build something just like this. As it is I’ve found two bent bits of pole and the brackets that hold them in diagonals. One day, if I raid enough skips.

Put the end caps back on and instead of screws and hiding them, some coach screws would look really industrial and I love the idea of the scaffolding bar.

Nice strong bench. I like the fact that you put the pole cross-member closer to the ground than to the seat, that way it will be seen more easily . . .

You ought to remove the metal bands from the bits you cut off the ends and reattach them to the ends of the bench seat.

Today's major news story: Matt at Badger Workshop makes a great-looking bench using scaffold boards. In other news, building sites up and down the country are reporting the disappearance of scaffold boards and scaffold tubes. Eyewitnesses state groups of men running off shouting 'I'm making a bench too!'
