Bought mine for the start of the 2022 season and absolutely love it. The Kohler engine is awsome. Just make sure you get the swivel front caster wheels.

Was looking st these mowers really hard for the past month or so. Couldnt help notice the amount of used ones at dealers on on Marketplace. Demoed ine yesterday and there is absolutely no happy medium in speed. Its either a slow ceawl or dragging you. I ended up buying a Ferris FW15. It cost more, but the hydrostatic drivetrain and reverse is worth it.

@@daryldaryl887 I ended up buying a a Ferris FW15. Of course it's more expensive, but it absolutely has a happy medium when it comes to speed, ergonomics, and control. It even has reverse. Perfectly happy with my purchase.

@@CMH_1975 Is the Ferris FW15 just an expensive Snapper SW15, or is the Snapper a cheap Ferris? The Ferris clocks in about 50 lbs heavier than the Scag, do you feel the weight?

Tech here, nothing has changed besides the pto system. You are able to get a kit that will convert it to the new version.

Dam it looks like it cut grass by itself. Hey can anyone here help me I'm trying to change the hydrostatic oil on my old mower but I don't know which oil to put the manual says it takes 30w motor oil it's a swz-14kh serial 1474 Thanks in advance I know there is alot of wisdom in this comments

Just bought one. 5.5 hours logged. The blade drive cable shredded. Frustrated. Why did this happen?

You probably have a 2021 or 2022 model. Check your manufacture date. My clutch was repaired for free due to a recall then Today, mine started to shred anyway after that fix last year. So though you sent this out months ago, you weren't alone. It's sad at that cost but Scag doesn't seem to care about customer service.

@@daryldaryl887 He also was probably sold an old model as I was. Scag knew of this problem and still didn't pull that mower off the sales floor when I bought last year. I got a 2021 model. I just had mine go back into the shop last week, again. Not happy, yet no one still has yet to reach out and see what's going on. Very disappointing.

@@CodyH88 Yeah, you guys bought the first edition, before the kinks were found and fixed. They say to never buy a new model right away. Wait a year or two so they can fix the bugs.

@@daryldaryl887 Again, my issue is I bought that mowerlast year (2023). I was sold the 2021 model. So Scag and I may soon be having a conversation since I already had the issue "fixed" last fall. Now it failed again 2 weeks ago in the PTO and blade/clutch engagement.

Those rear tires are not going to hold hills with front swivel casters. I love scag but that’s a deal breaker.

And guess what.. you are totally right! I have the SFC 21 and 30 and the 30 is absolutely a catastrophe. I'm convinced those who tested this in the field did so on parking lot with grass laid on it. You have to experience this thing if you ever get a test run somewhere in a real-world setting. The weight is so unbalanced due to the rear wheels being too small that the casters aren't on the ground half of the time. 😆 Its stuck in the slightest of dip or hump due to the 200+ lbs it weighs to make it worse yet.

@@daryldaryl887 Yeah I own the SFC 21 for my use and I actually would recommend that one, if you are in the commercial side or are comfortable financially. It's over $1500. But unlike the SFC 30, it really is a great mower. The design can handle the components its given.

I only have experience with the Kawasaki's for commercial. That and old Briggs and a small GC160 from a long time ago. I remember reading horror stories about Kohler but I had heard they had improved. I'm in the market to replace my father's aging Toro. The cost to keep it going is about $400 in parts and it isn't worth it anymore considering he neglected the deck and it is rusting out. I was thinking of buying myself a Skag and moving my older Exmark over to him. Should I think again and get him a 190CC Super Recycler or a Honda before they disappear? Father's day and his birthday are a month apart so I have time. I figured I would ask someone wiser than myself. This would be strictly for residential use. If I buy it for me the lawn in question is about 27,000 square feet. His lawn is about 14,000 give or take. But he refuses to use a rider because he wants the exercise. I appreciate any and all input.
