Hi Ben, just a quick question. We run one campaign one adset one creative and we were getting amazing results for over a week. After that we double the budget and now all the results suddenly dropped from 4 purchases per day to one per day and with the double of budget. What should we do? It’s been 2 days since we increased the budget. The increase was done on the adset level. This is an ABO campaign. One Adset - One Ad CTR 8% CPM: 10.84 USD CPC: 0.15 USD We tried by duplicating the campaign but it did not show any result so I turned it off and Kept the original campaign with one adset and one ad and increase the budget from 14 usd to 28 usd. However it's been 2 days and so far the from 4 purchases per day we get 1 purchase. Should I drastically bring it down to 14 usd or what should I do? It means the cost per purchase went from 5 usd to 15 usd. 3 Times much bigger than the desired. I would definitely appreciate this answer as honest as you can.

The larger the budget, the easier you will find it to exit the learning phase. So you should find that speeds up as you scale.

Thanks Ben, Just a quick question in terms of scaling and "learning phase". You mentioned to scale every 7-10 days and then scale again. Facebook learning phase is usually over a time period of 7 days and once it's out of the learning phase and it's been 7 days, then you'd scale again? Wouldn't that mean your campaigns/ad sets would be in the learning phase all the time. I had a chat with one of the Facebook marketing agents and they said that the reason behind the 20% scaling technique is because apparently that it doesn't go back to the scaling phase as long as you're doing 20% or under when it comes to scaling. Thanks
@eduk8ugradschoolasia56
@eduk8ugradschoolasia56 3 жыл бұрын
That's my question too and I also spoke with the FB marketing agent. I was told keeping to 20% will not trigger learning phase and anything over 25-30% will trigger, so it starts learning all over again, which means it needs 50 events to get out of learning, so it'll be like start a new campaign. Ben, please clarify the confusion. btw: my daily budget is between 50-100. Thank you!
@BenHeath
@BenHeath 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Haider, that's a good question but the average learning phase is actually 48 hours. If you are operating with a small budget then it can take a lot longer and if that's the case then I would extend the 7-10 days to something longer. 7-10 days is usually our average and the minimum I would recommend for most. I have certainly seen campaigns enter the learning phase from a 15% budget increase and even if you don't see that tag applied, you can still see a big difference in performance. If you scale from £10,000 per day to £12,000 per day, you may not see 'learning phase' but you are likely to see a big difference in your numbers.

I had a question. Your video is great but I wanted to ask you if a person is patient enough to grow slowly then can he do 15% budget increase every week even on low budgets. I don't want to become rich overnight. Even if it takes me 6 months extra to achieve the same I'm okay with it

Hi Muhammad, nope I would never recommend that. If a campaign is going well, increasing budget often is exactly what you want to do. If scaling reduces performance then you need to improve your campaigns or reduce the budget back to previous levels.

@BenHeath

No that's actually a good question. We scale when we are meeting or exceeding the objective - sometimes that is beneath profitability (if the client has access to additional funding for example). For most clients though, we will need to be profitable to scale.

Hi Mayur, people do more damage to their Facebook ad campaigns trying to avoid the learning phase than just about anything else. Facebook ad campaigns are always learning. Not scaling in larger increments to avoid the learning phase is like not taking on a customer that pays you $1,000 to avoid a $100 cost. You have to weigh the relative importance to things and make a decision accordingly.

Scaling higher ticket items has never been harder. If you’re getting 20 purchases per day, many won’t track and you’ll hit learning limited 1.5 days in and those that say learning limited has no impact are having a laugh. How do you handle situations like this?
@BenHeath
@BenHeath 3 жыл бұрын
The best approach is to spend more or lengthen your time horizons. But learning limited is not as big a deal as people make out. It's not ideal but the impact is not usually substantive. Plus with higher ticket items you should have more wiggle room in your acquisition costs.
@ecomtraveller
@ecomtraveller 3 жыл бұрын
@@BenHeath I appreciate the response, Ben. Every single time I have experienced learning limited I see CPMs start to sky rocket and our cost per purchase go 3x. I can spend $1000 per day and get 20 purchases in that 24 hr period and still see learning limited at some stage the next day. When you say lengthen your time horizons, do you mean altering the 7 day click?

Hey Ben, This is a bit of a random question. the trend nowadays seems to be to stack similar interests when prospecting but I;ve found that single asset interest targeting has helped me build funny enough some really strong stacked similar interests it just takes me longer and is more defined.
