Moral of the story: Every single ad account and circumstance is unique. I've bumped adsets by 10% and it re-entered learning. So my happy medium became 6.75%. Never had an issue since. I will have adsets from the SAME campaign get learning phase, and some don't. Basically nothing makes sense with meta. Just do whats right for you, in that particular ad account, cuz every single one is different.

So if you’re saying to turn off the 3 ROAS ad if you have a 4 ROAS ad, is the aim always to get down to 1 advert and just improve that ad with iterations? Or is it good to have a variety?

Meta AI automatically targets the local people based on our data. Trying to outsmart the AI will end in bad result for sure.
@BenHeath

I wouldn’t see this as trying to outsmart the AI. More like giving it more guidance. And the AI doing that for you only works if your ads are heavily local oriented. A ton of local advertisers don’t do that.

Yes but now you're also excluding people who are actually living in Oxford and have visited elsewhere. Much easier is just to include it in the form as a yes/no question, and use conditional logic on it. Facebook then learns that you need people that live there. Works like a charm.

Ben, could you please address the invitation-to-join-a-group feature in Meta please?? It has disappeared again and invitations to those people who react to an Engagement ad campaign no longer work either. It seems the only way to get more people into your group now would be to advertise the group itself? Does that sound correct?

I have been running an Etsy store since 2019, selling home printed personalised mugs, never stuck my nose off it, until this year, when I tried to launch a Shopify store too. For now I got absolute 0 luck though, I am experimenting with ads, tried to make a video ad, then take the audience who watched over 50% of it and clicked on the link, and made a conversion campaign with it, but in a month I got 0 sales, and I found that Facebook is showing my ads mostly (and I mean mostly) to over 65s. How can I change this? That age point is not my target audience, and I find that they are less likely to make online purchases than other younger audiences. Today I tried to recreate the ad, the first person who put a "like" on it, an over 65 woman. Geeee-sus Christ grant me patience.

00:28 💡 Approach Facebook ads with the mindset that failures are normal; persistence is key to finding success. 02:20 📈 Amateurs focus on reducing cost per acquisition, while experts focus on increasing lifetime customer value. 04:41 🎨 Offer and ad creative are more crucial than campaign structure and targeting settings in Facebook advertising success. 12:35 🛠 Before testing new elements in Facebook ads, consider if they will significantly impact results; prioritize tests that matter. 15:11 📊 Real-time and daily Facebook ad data can be inaccurate; focus on longer time horizons for more reliable insights. 18:43 🌍 If possible, choose markets with high average customer value and local focus for better Facebook advertising outcomes. 19:39 📈 High average customer value allows for higher ad spend, making advertising more profitable and scalable. 21:16 🏘 Choosing a local target market reduces competition and increases the likelihood of success, especially for new Facebook and Instagram advertisers. 25:11 📞 Exceptional lead follow-up, contacting leads quickly and persistently, can significantly increase conversion rates and revenue without increasing lead generation costs. 31:11 💰 Focus on either cost per conversion or return on ad spend (ROAS) as the primary metrics for Facebook ad performance evaluation, depending on your business model and goals. 34:18 🔄 Base optimization decisions on conversion volume rather than time, using statistical significance to determine ad performance. 38:29 📊 Inability to scale may indicate the need for better ads rather than limitations in audience size or targeting. 38:56 📈 Scaling Facebook ad campaigns can lead to increased costs and decreased results if targeting broader audiences reduces quality prospects. 40:22 💡 Inability to scale Facebook ad campaigns may be due to ads only resonating with a small percentage of the target audience, requiring better ad quality and diversity. 43:09 📆 Adjusting ad spend according to peak seasons rather than trying to counteract low periods can lead to more efficient resource allocation and better long-term results. 46:40 🚀 Brand association is a powerful lever for improving Facebook ad performance, either by building your own brand or leveraging established ones. 53:39 🏃‍♂ Running conversion-focused campaigns, rather than traffic campaigns, is advised despite initial lower performance, akin to training for a marathon by running instead of swimming. 56:11 💡 Allocating just 10% of ad budget to high-quality creative assets can often yield higher returns than solely increasing ad spend. 58:02 📊 Facebook ads tracking isn't perfect, so focus on relative performance rather than obsessing over exact data. 59:50 💡 Consider different attribution models (e.g., last touch vs. multi-touch) when analyzing conversion data between Facebook ads and Google Analytics. 01:01:00 🛠 Install Facebook Pixel and Conversion API for better tracking accuracy, even if data isn't perfect. 01:02:11 💰 Understand that Facebook ad costs increase as you scale, so plan with a buffer in mind to maintain profitability. 01:03:05 📚 Utilize Meta Ads Library for competitor analysis to save time and optimize ad strategies. 01:05:55 🤖 Embrace new AI tools for advertising but don't fear being replaced; AI is meant to enhance, not eliminate, human input. 01:07:06 🔄 Simplify Facebook ad accounts if they become too complex, focusing on one effective campaign rather than multiple variables. 01:08:32 🚶‍♂ Take a break after launching a new Facebook ad campaign to avoid constant tweaking and optimize learning. 01:09:42 🎭 While Facebook and Instagram followers are vanity metrics, they can still impact brand perception and credibility, especially in certain industries. 01:11:19 💡 Differentiate your product or brand from competitors, especially if similar products are available on Amazon for less. 01:13:27 🤔 Recognize that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to Facebook and Instagram advertising; strategies must be tailored to individual businesses. 01:15:19 🧠 Trust the Facebook algorithm and avoid trying to outsmart it with hacks or workarounds; follow recommended strategies for optimal results. 01:16:17 🧠 Understand that trying to outsmart or trick the algorithm isn't the right approach in Facebook ads; focus on what matters and continuously improve. 01:17:10 🛠 If your ads aren't improving despite efforts, consider that your product or service might not be meeting demand, necessitating a reassessment. 01:18:34 🚫 Ad account disablement on meta (formerly Facebook) is frustrating but common; mitigate risks with security measures, and don't let it stress you excessively. 01:20:42 💰 Facebook ad budget should align with business needs, not audience size; start with an amount you can afford to lose and adjust as campaigns become profitable. 01:22:50 📈 Facebook ads can yield enormous rewards with the right campaign, driving exponential growth even with substantial initial investment. 01:25:23 🔄 Disregard claims that Facebook ads are dying; their value persists as long as users remain active, which continues to be the case with growing user numbers. 01:27:56 🎯 Focus on building deeper relationships with a smaller, engaged audience rather than targeting a broad audience, as it often leads to greater economic value. 01:30:58 💸 The most significant marketing cost is missing out on sales due to ineffective marketing; prioritize investments that generate substantial returns over immediate expenses. 01:33:32 💡 Keep Facebook ad copy and visuals simple and attention-grabbing, as users often only glance at ads for half a second while distracted. 01:34:43 📝 Simplify your ad content to ensure instant comprehension, increasing the likelihood of engagement and action. 01:36:08 💡 Highlight the benefits, not just features, of your product or service. Emphasize ease, simplicity, and fast results to appeal to customers. 01:38:16 🧪 Test new products or services using Facebook ads before investing heavily in development or manufacturing, saving time and money. 01:40:48 💰 Aim for signups on waiting lists to cost 25% or less of your acceptable cost per purchase, providing a conservative estimate of potential customer interest. 01:43:23 ⚠ Be cautious with recommendations from Facebook (Meta) reps, especially those encouraging increased spending. Start small, prove profitability, then scale. 01:47:04 🌐 Technology consolidates markets, favoring winners who provide comprehensive solutions. Niche down to dominate specific market segments rather than competing broadly. 01:53:20 💡 Pick a niche where you can excel and then expand gradually because technology often leads to winner-takes-all situations. 01:53:47 🛠 Take responsibility for your results in Facebook advertising; even if external factors affect performance, it's up to you to adapt and improve. 01:55:50 💼 Don't panic if your cost per conversion increases; remain calm, analyze the situation, and make informed decisions to improve performance steadily.
