Stunning build, as usual, especially considering the scale! Been building for over 50 years, mostly 1/72, mostly jets, and I still learn something from each video you post. Never would have occurred to me to alter the construction sequence on the forward fuselage and intakes, and I would have bet you money the cockpit would not have slid into place before I saw you do it, very creative! Have stolen the watercolor pencil and silver marker techniques you show, thank you! Really admire your talent and your willingness to share with us.

I never had to wash, dry, go to a video to build a plane. I've been building models since my first one in 1956 made of wood. It was a DC-3 that you sanded, shaped, put on paper decals. The wheels are rubber and the props are metal you have two small nails to put them on so they spin. I lost it while we moved to California from Nebraska. I started building plastic models after that and I built every ship and plane they had about 350 from fighters, Bombers, but the planes were like B-17S B-24, B-25,, B26, B-47, B-52, B-58, P-38, P-40, P-47, P51, Then we went to Japan and the Japanese glue is crap, it doesn't keep the parts together so I had to use Testors glue which is better. THE only plane I didn't build is the B-36 until later. I still build models just to pass the time I'm 73 years old and will do it till I'm dead.

Good video! Yeah, attaching the wings of a 72 kit is wrong, should come in 1 piece.. owell. Here's abit of a tip to prevent paint bleeding. After you have masked off whatever (lets say a canopy) Take a q tip, rag, and dip it in some clear coat ( say Future) and rub along all the edges of the mask. Let dry. This seals the masks and prevents the next layer of paint from bleeding under the mask. works 99% of the time for me.! Good job!

SLUG right now i cant decide whether to do 1/72 jets, 1/48 jets, or 1/48 wwII planes. I want a medium sized model. Dont want anything huge like a 1/48 su-35 or f-14. But no small planes like a 1/72 biplane.

sorry if you get asked this question a lot but under airbrush it says "cheap Iwata clone" and I'm curious to know specifically which one it is? I'd be interested in buying one of these, it looks like it is giving better performance than what I currently have
@Scaleaton6 жыл бұрын
Hi, unfortunately these are not selling under a brand name. I found them in a local hobby store 13 years before. I have never find cheap and good airbrushes like them. Nowadays cheap airbrushes have realy low quality. I guess these airbrushes are selling under name of middle segment brands like Sparmax etc. If I receive my all orders next week, I will make a review and comprasion video about them in this month.
@sluggger6 жыл бұрын
man, you got lucky then I guess, like you said the cheap stuff now is nothing like what your airbrush is like. I missed my chance! anyways, 13 years of service out of them and they don't look like they're stopping any time soon. nice. I look forward to any video you've got coming thanks for your content. god bless your life.

At 28:22 you are adding a detail that does not exist on the real aircraft. They are not "missing," they are not supposed to be there.
Beautiful build. Quick question, how do you decide whether to dilute with water or alcohol. Thanks.

I've read about people using a store bought or home made airbrush paint booth. I noticed that you do not in videos. Is it necessary with acrylic paint or do you have some kind of ventilation? Thanks and another awesome build and video!
@Scaleaton6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I have a painth booth and I also use 3M mask with highly protective filters for vapors and particles. I record only a few minutes or important stages of the paint session. Otherwise I complete the session in the paint booth. Thank you for the feedback. I will add some warnings to the info bar.

Did you happen to airbrush the F-16 colour mix onto the canopy? I've been trying to tint clear parts like windows with an airbrush, but it just fogs them up. Is there a particular technique to it? Btw, splendid work on this. The JASDF Aggressor schemes always look awesome.

Hi! I always wondered if the F-15 in 1:72nd from Hasegawa is worth it... It's not bad at all! (I suppose you have used the exhaust nozzles from Aires.) One question: does the sponge underneath helps you with the overspray when you're painting? Or you use it just to keep the workplace cleaner?
@Scaleaton6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Radu! You pay attention to the details. Yes I have used the nozzle set from Aires. F-15 is my favorite jet. I have Platz J will order GWH I and E. I am not sure this one is the best in 1:72 scale. We will see... I realize that the paint particles came back from the surface and stick to the model. That sponge is preventing it. It also keep the workplace cleaner.
@RaduB.6 жыл бұрын
Scale-a-ton Thanks for the explanations! F-15 certainly is a good looking jet. And in 1:72th is more manageable than 1:48th. Can't wait to see the next ones! I'll decide then which one to try myself. 🙂 (The F-15I promises yet another interesting camo scheme but all are interesting subjects.)
