It is not the Eduard scaled down (as Alex S says), as Eduard have an Me109F or G tailfin on ALL their E models, E went straight all the way to the aerial post, F and G radiused round to it. Happy to see Special Hobby got it right. Also it appears that the nose vents on the engine cowling have got the correct shape at the back edge, NOT curved as per front edge but flat topped (as is cowling on the ENTIRE top and where the vents also are, then bending down the sides. Not once in the video was there a shot looking aft at the nose, those vents are a distinctive flared shape and not slits when viewed aft, so I think, but video didnt show it, we have at last correct nose vents on an Emil. Me109E it is almost impossible to see the rivets on the real aircraft, so applying a wash to make them all black was not a good move. Also what was that golden brown as RLM71 dark Green IS NOT GOLDEN BROWN ! The end result was a failing with the colours and wash. Photo that at scale height and place that in a real scene with photoshop, it would be miles different, you have gone for an effect and not realism; if that was Mr Aqueous RLM71 its been wrongly labelled , should have sprayed out a sample and stopped when seeing that. Probably RAF Dark Earth or similar ! I also would suggest applying glue to the actual joint, not a wash as it leaves a scarred surface despoiling the surface of this fine model. If that decal will distort to fully hug the 3D instrument panel I would be most amazed. Superb bit of model casting best hand painted or aftermarket pre printed part.

I immediately thought of eduard decals when I saw them. They look very good after you’ve removed the “top layer”. Just don’t make the same mistake as I did and forget to remove one on a decal. Once you put a coat of clear on top you can’t get it off anymore and it’ll look terrible.

@fasold21643 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I have the impression, all modelers think it's a MUST to emphasize every panel line, although it doesn't look very realistic. The second "MUST BE" is the idea, that all Bf 109 E's around 1940 were finished in green tones or here possibly in RLM Dark green 71/RLM grey 02. Since late 1940 most Bf 109's, newly built aircraft as well as machines alredy in the inventory, received the then new camouflage colors in grey tones of RLM74 Dark grey/RLM 75 Grey violet/RLM 76 Pale grey. But most modelers -for unknown reasons- persistently ignore historic facts. It's like the famous "King Tiger"-tank, the correct English translation would be Royal Tiger, but who cares abot a correct pronunciation...
@ScaleModelAircraft3 жыл бұрын
Tiger Baureihen, wild cat family, Königstiger, Leopard, Jaguars like all tanks etc. It's nothing with Royalty. Btw, This is correct camouflage with 4x photo references. I added in some replies available online ref. photo (NOT posted by me). About the rivets It's the matter of personal taste. Thanks for Your comment!! All the best! Dusan.
@fasold21643 жыл бұрын
@@ScaleModelAircraft I occupied myself for years with German camouflage. I would highly appreciate to see your photo references. Do you have any sources (books, online etc.) where to find them? About the name 'Königstiger': you are partially correct. Do to LEO dictionnary the correct translation would be "Bengal tiger". But 'Kingtiger' is nonetheless WRONG.

This is so well engineering kit that I really can build it in a few hours (with the paint job included). I wanted to show the detail in the first part of the video/review as well the critical aspects during the build and painting, if there is an issue with the fit etc. Don't get me wrong I can make longer videos with explaining something like "this is the paint brush and now I will highlight the gauge " etc. and talk about that same brush for the next 10min. But it's not my style. All the best! Dusan.

@@ScaleModelAircraft Hey Dusan! No, don't get me wrong. I don't mean something like "this is the paint brush and now I will highlight the gauge". Sehr gelungenes Modell, ohne Frage.

Dusan another amazing video of your perfect models. One fast question. Do you find that using Mr. Hobby Aqueous for detailed paint work is better with the solvent Color leveling thinner than the acrylic thinner from Mr. Hobby? THANK YOU!!!
@ScaleModelAircraft3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind words! To be honest I really can't suggest You to choose between the two. For faster working I will always go with the "smelly" ones. Primer, base coat, cammo even a light coat of gloss over in the same day... but with extra caution. Light paint build up and light coating etc. You can't do this with aqueous, the colour needs more time to cure, but it's much more pleasant for working and less toxic. For the cammo details I would say it's the same for me. Btw, I even use the leveling thinner for enamel colors. I hope this will help. All the best! Dusan.

@ScaleModelAircraft3 жыл бұрын
Don't use water anymore to thin paints, you can use for paint brush but not so great for airbrush (warm water will work, but complicated to preserve the temperature...) Usee the regular color mix for acrylic, original Revell thinner for acrylic (Revell Aqua Color Mix). Revell color acrylic are ok for air brushing if you thin the paints properly, minimum 50/50 mix, test on some spare plastic... they are much better to paint brush. H&S Ultra is very good airbrush so first check your paint mix, then check your air pressure, maby it's to low. All the best! Dusan.
