I was building an AFV club centurion the other day it was the first time I'd ever had any mould realise agent grease left on a kit so it was a wee surprise but like you I never wash the whole sprues just the part, never seen the point in washing sprues n loosing small parts or maybe you just never know! I used to be a car modeller before got into my beloved armour now but always found it funny how you never get orange peel on armour no matter what you do haha! I was a professional body specialist in the trade you do tend to follow along same guide lines not nothing near as major needed on the model's to a real car to get a nice solid looking sheen the airbrush is great for the finer layers to a spray gun!

I completely agree with your move to lacquer paints and Gravity is my preferred paint. Yes, they have a terrible odor, but the quality can't be argued with. They spray incredibly well, and look fantastic.

I was a model show a fortnight ago there was a big car section but looking at some the orange peel in them was crazy! It just took over the glare on the camera and noticed alot of there metallic paints the flakes were massive on a 1.24 scale car again especially on camera it showed up like it was a flake paint job on a modded car!

That foil is stunning, the best i have seen and gives me hope as airbrushing just doesn't get close nor did the bare metal foil. Lovely spray job. Oh to be 20 years younger with all the techniques i have learned recently and all the new paints as my kits would have been better. On to the next video. Philip

Have you ever used aluminum duct tape for the chrome it can be used it may not be quite as easy as the foil you used but it looks good it is a little bit thicker so a little bit harder to cut but it comes in a roll it isn't really very expensive can be purchased at any hardware store I have had the same roll for years it sticks very well so you have to be careful that you don't get to much on the paint unless it has been drying for a while .

The Honda NSR 500 factory color, not because of the bike but because the decals were awfull and i ruined the fairings. Then i made a red and white livery but still not happy with that.

I am getting back into building models. The 250 is my favorite Ferrari. I know there are the kits from Fujimi and Revell. Is the Fujimi your favorite kit? What model of air brush are you using and comressor? You did a good job on explaining the paint process. I painted my motorcycle with rattle cans and I used a 2 part spray product called SprayMax for my clear coat. It came out very nice. I wonder how it would do with small models. Have you tried SprayMax before.

Great paint prep and related tips leading up to the painting! I have a question relating to the final finish: The clear coat seems to “round over” the seams and body lines (as are visible in the close-ups of the completed body pain. To me this takes away some of the realism of the scale. Is there a way in which you can prime-paint-clear coat the body and prevent that rounding of seams and edges on the body? I ask as a relative novice to model building, but pride myself in detail (to a fault it seems).

Hi Dave yes the red covers a lot faster using less paint and imo is a lot more vibrant too. It also works similar with yellow primer. Well worth trying
