I’m getting this, and I already have a good grasp on advanced theory. Why? Because I stink at piano (string instrument player) and spend half my time trying to get my hands to do what I hear and want on a tiny keyboard when I’m arranging in a DAW. This is actually a great tool for beginners to learn theory too, because you can hear what’s happening and see the words for it in real-time.

Congratulations on the product, since version 1 it has improved a lot. I would like to suggest some future upgrades: I wish there was the possibility of importing midi files for melodies and rhythmic patterns, this would make it really perfect. In addition I would like the possibility to change on the fly the octave of reproduction of the notes on the menu on the left in the section of songs at the top (now requires more steps). Thanks a lot, I'm very happy with this upgrade

Enjoying your Italian accent… but that might be because I’m a French-speaker. ;-) This overview helped me grasp quite a few things about the update. Especially after reminding myself of what the original version did. It sounds like a whole new product, with some features related to other plugins and some completely new ones. So I did pay for the upgrade (using some of my PB virtual cash). Feeling pretty decent about the company, right now. The effect of keeping expressions/phrases in scale-based mode makes a whole lot more sense after hearing it. In a way, it sounds exactly like the kind of harmonization effect that my Classically-trained music teachers were describing as “cheating” or associated with pop music. Which is precisely what I’d like to use, now. I still enjoy classical approaches to four-part harmony, but this kind of melodic/harmonic development is really satisfying, in a visceral way. Nothing wrong with satisfaction! Playing with modulation is another thing where it can be satisfying beyond my (rusty) knowledge of music theory. Yes, I really understand how the cycle of fifths works, how useful it can be to go to a relative minor, and I even get a sense of why tritone substitutions are so neat in Jazz improvisation. What the tool will allow me to do is quickly explore things without overthinking them. Especially with the expressions and phrases. I know the association may not be as positive for everyone but, using the choir sound especially, my reaction to that modulation segment was “Instant Enya!”. People associate the Queen of ‘80’s-‘90’s overdubs with “New Age” and such. But there’s something in her straightforward harmonies which has always hit a balance in tension and release. Yes, it can feel very soothing. And it’s also ear-opening enough, at times. With expressive plugins, Scaler 2 will likely help me lay down deeper foundations to my musicking than just “cool chord progressions”. I’m not sure I’ll frequently use the scale modes for “solos” and “leads”, but I already know that I’ll be able to at least create rich “backing tracks”.

Scaler 1 made composing a bit more enjoyable. Scaler 2 now makes it not only a LOT more enjoyable but sped up the journey to get to my destination. If there is one request as a Cubase user it would be to liaise with Steinberg and allow dragging onto their Chord Track keeping the Scaler 2 voicings. I have a sort of work around > drag to a MIDI track then create chord symbols from MIDI but the voicings are different when they appear on the Chord Track - not the end of the world but .... Thanks for this superb upgrade!

This is by far one of the most intuitive tools ever created for a songwriter. Even someone that plays keys can get some great starting points and then just play it themselves to add their own flavor. The audio detection still is not working as it should for me, it is hit and miss. But overall a great plugin.
@davidecarbonemusic4 жыл бұрын
Audio Detection will and is improving rapidly, DEVS are on it. I find it very useful when I am writing and need some chord and scale detection. Always pleasantly surprises me. If I throw audio at it for the sake of testing, it can disappoint. Nature of the beast but we are working hard to improve it as we speak.

Sure is a Piece of a Plugin, l am a Guitarist that can read music treble and bass clefs, l have a very good under standing of music theory l am learning piano at the moment just so i can know my around a set of keys for composing and or making tracks. Scaler is incredible, i recorded some heavy distorted guitar sounds other day just to figure levels in cubase anyway l used scaler to analyse the sounds and it came up with chords in the diatonic key and i then did a progression out of it and its probably the 2nd time i've opened up the program. The ideas you can get out of it is amazing, theres definitely a huge shift in creating music even with minimal knowledge and whats available in the modern world, regards to technology this is where technology really comes in handy and also it isn't lending a hand in regression of music its self.
