🙌 AKA you can't polish a turd! No one is going to make a good tune with scaler unless they have taste.
@mariohartmann00013 жыл бұрын
well of course it's not cheating. I think one should generally take a step back from the thought that anything is truly original. I mean we all use the same 12 notes in western music to create something... how original can your stuff truly be using the same 12 notes since hundreds of years. the same is true with things like presets of instruments. even the default preset is a preset in the end, it's just a pretty basic, barebone thing that someone decided to be the startingpoint. the same is true with things like this. someone who doesn't understand theoretically how notes, scales, intervalls, chords and so on work should still be able to express what he/she wants to express and even if you took the time to learn all of the said things... why not have a tool that is able to make your workflow more productive or spark inspiration in you. We as artists really need to get that stick out of our asses thinking that we are so freakin unique and therefore better than others just because we use the most barebone setup possible... in the end it doesn't mean anything and no one who is touched by your creation will ever ask if you used alot of tools to help you or if you literally just banged two sticks together... the important part is the art.. not how the art was made

i remember buying music programs in the 80's and maybe even 90's. Every manual had a GET STARTED section, where they would show you pretty much all the workings, but as you say, a WORKFLOW. you don/t get that now. The manual just explains what each button does.. but not how to USE it. Then you have to waste time googling trying to find a proper workflow tutorial. I wish they made manuals like in the old days lol.

I have heard from the forum that Scale is in development for iOS. We all know how efficient Scaler is to come up with tracks & compositions in a studio setup. But I would like to use Scaler in iPAD for mostly live situations as accompaniment for the main singer. In order to perform live “Key Lock with Chord Extension” is a must-to-have feature. Thank´s for a very good tutorial. What I don´t under stand is why you do the midi capture after you recorded the progression from Scaler. Why not just copy that midi to the track where you had the piano plug-in?

You can do that but Midi Capture captures everything you do in Scaler including any melodic notes you play or any switching between performances you may do! Dragon drags the chords with any performances baked in.

No difference, Logic Pro X has an native MIDI FX utility which allows for instant routing to a third party VST as opposed to having to set it up in other DAWs (which is easy enough)

When I chose "key-lock" and "chord extensions" I see that the keyboard mapping is fixed with which keys are for chords and the green tipped keys are for notes. Is there any way I can do my own mapping instead of the fixed mapping? Also, I have a wish that in future updates Scaler can scan ahead and predetermine which chord is following and to be played from a pre-recorded track.
@nikirose76734 жыл бұрын
There are VST plug ins that you could use to redirect MIDI input quite easily
@MariaGoJa3 жыл бұрын
This is amazing! Are the single MIDI notes of each chord being recorded with the same velocity? It seems as if there is no dynamic variety happen as it does, when you actually play the chord on a piano. I mean that some notes are heavier then others and create their own melodic focus. Then I would prefer just to tweak some chord progression ideas with the help of scaler and then to play the actual chords on the piano myself for the sake of musical expression.
@SchoolofSynthesis3 жыл бұрын
You can make velocity edits but you can also turn on the humanize and apply to velocity, timing or both - that's a global setting and will make playing much more natural!

Thanks for this video! Since I am unsatisfied with my left and right hand coordination, what workflow would you suggest for creating the melody? I would already have a track triggering the progression, a track with this progression as captured by Scaler... Could any of those two "guide" Scaler while I try to play melodies? I hope I am expressing myself clearly.
@SchoolofSynthesis4 жыл бұрын
Sure just record trigger notes first. The play your DAW and the chords will be triggered via midi and you can play melody with one hand - either hand. Or even write in your DAW. You can decide to hear the chords or have them silent so they are only triggering just like in the video.
