I've been suffering with psoriasis for years and you're right, there is not enough information out there. Especially for Black people and people with locs. Over the years I've created so many different "treatments" for myself lol And I have been using tea tree oil but not nearly as much as I should be lately. I needed this swift kick to get back to consistency so thank you. And thank you for talking about it!

The best part is that you’re not dealing with it alone! I’ve found some great ways to manage mine. I’ve recently been using Jamaican black castor oil (twice a week) as well and it’s done wonders on my scalp and hair thickness! I hardly deal with any itching or dandruff anymore! Of course this isn’t a cure but it’s definitely helped prevent me from scratching bald spots into my hair! Lol If you ever have any questions or video requests let me know!

If you have psoriasis please see a dermatologist first and foremost. Psoriasis has a bad habit of adapting to treatment so you might need to change your cleaning routine. Use medicated shampoo As much as l personally love tea tree oil it can dry out you hair if used excessively and like all treatment it doesn’t work for everyone. A good cleansing shampoo Very Light oils Rosa water great Coconut oil is a protein binder and anti-fungal Essential oils or combination oils

Great video. Aloe Vera juice works to heal the scalp as well, very healing and moisturizing. I've also used Karanja seed oil (it has the same properties just like neem seed oil without the smell). I've used tea tree as well but only the one from Australia. I've discovered a stronger alternative recently, lemon myrtle essential oil...works great but it's definitely stronger than tea tree, so I use less. For locs/scalp detox, try bentonite clay/acv/coconut vinegar. I use warm coconut vinegar myself because it's way cheaper than acv. I make the mix a little runny, it's excellent for the scalp. I add either a little oil or Aloe Vera powder for additional moisture. Please be warned, this mixture penetrates to the core of the locs pulling lint/buildup closer to the surface. I add a little to my shampoo now so I get a deeper clean every time I shampoo.

Cortezz Lewis id recommend a wash every two weeks to manage the flakes. (add tea tree to the shampoo) Tea tree oil and Jamaica black castor oil (mixed) applied to scalp 2-3 times a week. I’d also say embrace the roughness of the early phase. Washing every two weeks will have your Locs looking more wild early on but trust the process. You can get away with washing less frequently once you’ve got more control over your flakes..lastly I’d say most importantly try to enjoy the whole process. The starter loc phase goes by quick!! Snap pics as much as you can. You’ll cherish those moments later! ✊🏾 I’m here if you need me!

TRY THIS: My Family Fixed SEVERLY ITCHY SCALP ISSUES - Naturally: 1. Wash your hair with Sulfur 8 shampoo, using a silicone scalp massager. 2. Let it dry naturally. Be sure to blot the excess water with a brand new towel or one that you have never used on your hair / body before. 3. That night, SMOTHER your entire head with Vaseline - wrap it in a scarf and sleep that way. Why? The easiest, most 'natural' way to kill the yeast / candida and anything else that is living on your scalp which is what is probably happening - in a matter of minutes - is to simply smother it - NO OXYGEN means no ability to breathe, thrive, grow or survive. 4. The next morning, mix bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil (whatever ration you want...it really does not matter) into a bowl (do not use a metal spoon when mixing clay - use plastic or wood only). SMOTHER your scalp with the clay, let it dry then just sit under the shower and let it rinse off until the water runs clear. You may need to do this a few times to get all of the Vaseline off of your scalp and hair - but you'll see that you've just 'killed' the yeast when not one hair follicle itches. Repeat weekly, or as often as you need to and be sure to hot wash with white vinegar and baking soda all of the bedding, towels, clothing and anything else that it may be living on. (fyi never mix bleach and vinegar). We tried this - and it literally solved the problem overnight. If there is a new issue we just repeat the process. Good luck everyone, and God Bless!

Hey great video! I’m wanting to loc my hair, I’m close to 6”, so I’m not quite ready, but soon I will be. I’ve been dealing with psoriasis for 16years now. I had messed around with dreads in my late teens early 20s and there just wasn’t much info out there to help with what I was dealing with and just ended up cutting my locs after a few months. Now I really want to loc my hair and enjoy it without worrying about my dandruff. I’ve been doing research lately and came across your video. Much of the same stuff I have been hearing how to maintain and deal with scalp psoriasis. When you speak about putting some tea tree oil in with water, how much tea tree oil are you actually using? Do you add tea tree oil into any shampoos while you shower? You also speak of rose water and I’ve heard that rose water works well to, along with apple cider vinegar. When are you using the rose water? Is that an in the shower application? I appreciate you making this video and sharing your advice and knowledge. I greatly appreciate it.
@TPlocks5 жыл бұрын
Korg sup man! I appreciate your questions. Sorry it’s taken so long to respond! So first question, how much tea tree oil and water? This is a little tricky as I’ve never actually measured I typically approach it with a 1:3 ratio. 1 part tea tree 3 parts water. For me the main goal is to have a substantial enough amount to be effective, but limited enough to not to smell too strong. It’s not an exact science though. I’ve probably adjusted this ratio several times. I typically gauge what’s right based on how my scalp feels. I have used tea tree in my shampoo but I’ve found it to be an unnecessary step for me. Not to say it won’t help. My situation just hasn’t shown a need for it. When I originally tried the shampoo mixture out I hadn’t quite yet found a regiment that worked so I was willing to try anything. Lol Rose water works amazingly. I use that every morning as a moisturizer for my hair and scalp. I apply it with a spray bottle directly to the hair and in between parts. I’ve also found that Jamaican black castor oil works great for me as well. The tea tree helps with the itching. The rose helps moisture and The oil helps with the dryness and flaking. It also seals in the moisture from the rose water when you apply it to your hair directly. I hope that helps! Definitely don’t consider myself an expert but I can say for sure this has worked for me. Also, Just FYI even with all of this I still have to wash my hair once every 3 weeks. Nothing completely gets rid of my dandruff, but it does help keep it under control.

as oil and water don't mix, how do you make that work with the spray? What are your thoughts on mixing coconut oil with teatree oil and rubbing that in nightly? I've been struggling with scalp psoriasis for years, and was also considering dreads as a means of allowing my hair to grow out again, but also maintaining decent access to my scalp. I originally cut off most of my hair in order to manage it, but I do miss my hair...
@TPlocks5 жыл бұрын
You’re absolutely right. There is a slight work around though! When shaken well before applications it will temporarily mix and even change color before separating again. I believe this is mainly due to the fact that tea tree oil isn’t as viscous as the other heavier oils. The lack of viscosity slightly alters the hydrophobic properties for a short period of time when mixed/ shaken thoroughly. Tea tree oil isn’t a cure but it does a great job of treating the itching and dandruff! Results may vary person to person, but it’s definitely something that will benefit you in your journey to hair growth! Fights excess bacteria, improved ph balance of the scalps, natural remedy for itching (reducing the need to consistently scratch potentially causing scalp abrasions and even traction alopecia) its a great addition to any hair regiment! If you feel like the issue is chronic for you I definitely would recommend seeing a specialist.

Also look out for nightshade vegetables like tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers and potatoes (sweet potatoes and black pepper is fine) And on top of all that I have xrohns disease so its like a perfect storm for trouble Hopefully within a week my scalp may stop flaking up. 😞

This is an issue I've been having. At 5 months and still not locked I'm reaching a breaking point because it's only getting worse, a wash once a week resolves the issue, but as we both know, that is not practical for actually locking up, was planning on just doing it anyway. But before I do, i'm going to try this and let you know how things went by the end of the month. Today is day one and the irritation is gone, I usually get itchy by week three. I know you ain't a doctor so if my head falls off, it's on me lol. but so far this advice seems legit.
