Cement scam refers to the corrupt practices of the then Chief Minster of Maharashtra A R Antulay while allotting cement to certain builders in return of 'donations' by them to specified Trusts. A case filed against him in the Bombay High Court and he was held guilty because of which he had to resign on 12th January 1982.
In late 1970s there was a scarcity of cement and in order to address it the state government decided to ration its selling. A government order was issued on 12th September, 1978, directing that the sale and distribution of cement in the State would be controlled by the State Government and it would be sold throughout the State through authorised dealers of the Government only. Meanwhile, A R Antulay, registered a Trust by the name Indira Gandhi Pratibha Pratisthan (formed with the stated objective of supporting artists and designers) and out-of-turn permits of large quantities of cement were given to those builders who were depositing money in Antulay's Trusts as donation.
P.B.Samant, a Socialist leader from Goregaon, and Ramdas Nayak, a BJP corporator filed a case against him at the Bombay High Court and Justice Lentin on 12th January 1982 gave an order saying that it was a clear case of corruption, following which Antulay had to resign. Justice Lentin held that a nexus existed between the Chief Minister and the Builders and the donations made and the cement allotted to them had a relation thus holding Antulay for quid pro quo.
Some of the Builders who gave the money in order to get the cement were Raheja Developers, Amrut Builders, Hiranandani Builders, Makers Development Services, Bombay Builders, Evershine Builders, Nahar and Rizvi Developers.

My house is in South Bombay which building was made in 1918 and is still standing strong because it was made by Britishers with good quality of cement but on the same time the other buildings in our vicinity built when Congress was in power have already crumbled to the ground as the quality of cement and other materials were too poor.

The British were brilliant at nearly most specialist fields including all trades in the 19th and 20th centuries. Even today Britain has the best building regs in the world but still if we do not make full enquiries before buying new properties then we lose. Some property developers do cut corners for bigger profits! For new builds, it's imperative to know the grade of cement, materials grade for plumbing too nowadays!

Its nothing to do with congress or any other political party. Indian politicians at large are corrupt. Indians at large are corrupt and self centred and thus you get such leader, bureaucrats, police officers, etc. Ultimately these leaders keep hopping from Congress to BJP to any other party they feel is good for their own progression.

The problem here doesn't seem corruption, but the licence raj. Not that corruption is ok, but most scarcity that led to corruption was due to this USSR inspired idea of govt controlling everything.

Absolutely, and Indira Gandhi's terms as prime minister with ridiculous tax rates, (up to 97% at one point) had the single biggest contribution to the start of black markets and high levels of corruption. Similarly, the underworld and Mumbai mafia started with Gujarat based Liquor smuggling gangsters. Seems like having government tentacles in every thing in life like a "mai-baap sarkar" is not a good idea after all. Even today, in police "transfer auctions and bid wars", the highest "bids" are for state border checkpoints, not mega cities of the state, simply because the checkpoints offer "monetary benefits". Even some cases for police officers refusing promotions to not leave these checkpoints.

Our old building was built completely in 1965 (5 years after formation of Maharashtra state) it took them 5 yeaes to build it as per my grandfather. The building stands so stromg till date and believe me it has the nivest architecture with huge bathrooms, washrooms, hall, bedroom and kitchen. 1bhk around 650 sqft. Also our new building is made by Shapoorji Pallonji so you know ♥️

Make video of how ugly looking buildings are made right in front of a highway along with ugly looking shops being made under buildings in Mumbai. Also make how mangroves are not retained after removing the slums. Instead buildings are made there.

Ultratech OPC 53 grade for RCC while rest of non-structural work go for 43 grade Ultratech, Ambuja, ACC, JSW etc.

Pune the 2nd largest city of Maharashtra with 90 % native population have more GDP than Surat and Amdavad India's 1/3 rd automobile parts are produced in nashik along with wine capitals Maharashtras sugar lobby which is richest in India we came on 2nd on the production of wheat there are lot of things other than Mumbai and gujrat is never going to replace Maharashtra as a financial capital 😂

@@SanidhyaTotade Instead of making mumbai UT make bihar and jharkhand a UT. Mumbai was nothing in front of kolkata and madras before 1970s. It was the Gujrati/parsi money, marathi labourers and importance which government of maharastra gave to this city which made it financial capital of this country . For this damn city the rest of maharastra never got its own share and chance to develop and now you feel its overcrowded so just make it an UT. Who made Mumbai overcrowded it is these north-Indians which are teaching us what to do and what not. Im not blaming any north Indian but Our Maharashtrian people who are still living in peshwa era thinking we are still ruling delhi but those days are gone. After mumbai thane, navi mumbai, pune, nagpur will have minority marathi population and chath puja will be primary festival of maharastra. Just wait and watch.
