This story just highlights how some people should really not be parents. Having a best friend like relationship with your kid and being completely incapable of any sort of authority over a 12 year old? She was barely a teenager - still very much a child, so saying ‘oh I was stubborn, mom knew I’d do what I wanted’ is wrong on so many levels. If the parents were capable of actually bringing up a child they would never let this happen. Also, having a man sleep over when your daughter is telling you straight up she is uncomfortable and chooses to sleeps in a car is fucked up! Obviously what the friends dad and his predatory friends did is criminal and I’m not fully blaming the mom for this situation, could have happened even if she didn’t live with them. I’m a third into the story and I am appalled at how pathological the situation was in both houses.

My uncle ended up with his deceased wife’s sister. They didn’t really know eachother when he and has wife were together because she lived in a different city a good bit away from us, but they slowly got together after years of friendship and grieving my aunt together and got married 8 years after my aunt passed away. They honoured her heavily at their wedding and my aunt’s name, Mae, is their 12 year old daughter’s middle name. At the beginning the family did gossip about how close they were getting around 2 years after my aunt passed, but we witnessed them grieving together and saw their friendship grow and when they eventually ended up together nobody was surprised and everyone had given their blessing by then. Their relationship is beautiful, unorthodox for sure, but not one person in our family is uncomfortable about it (even though some may have been at the beginning) and they make eachother very happy and have photos of my uncle and deceased aunt still in their home and talk about her all the time. They’re also two of the sweetest, caring and loving people I know.

It's so sad that she went through this. I'm sure this happens to others through social media as well. I had a friend who was convinced by a psychic woman and her boyfriend that her parents were human traffickers and that she shouldn't trust them at all. At the time, she had a drift with her parents so it only made the relationship worse. The "psychic" woman is in her 20's and was found on TikTok. The couple convinced her sister that she should leave her home and be gypsies with them. Her sister quit her job to leave with them. My friend was considering it too. My friend and her sister moved back in with their parents and are safe now. Please be careful out there. it's so easy to get sucked into this stuff.

Greif is such a hard thing to go through, especially as teenager. We are not taught how to deal with it until it happens to us and all we’re searching for is answers. It’s so sickening to think that someone would take advantage of that. The amount of strategic planning and manipulation also makes me wonder if she’s done this to others. I hope one day she has to face the consequences of her actions, and although her daughter isn’t innocent either, I hope she gets tf out of that situation.
