You actually were to the point! No 1 minute intro/music/logo... so many will take us from pulling out the car keys... opening the door... looking for a connector.. can't find it ... finally after 5 minutes they get to the point. Thank you for a concise video. Helped!

I always love a video like this. NO BS loud music, or fast movements, that show nothing. Thanks Much Advanced Level Auto. Did mine today.....only 1 was loose, the 12v power wire, now shes nice and virgin tight. LOL
@robrig16468 ай бұрын
I get the intro/music/logo thing; guy has a channel and the intro is part of "The Brand", although some of them are too over the top and usually too loud compared to the audio track in the rest of the video. I usually include a short background narrative on the problem because sometimes the symptoms associated with the CEL can vary and I think a few minutes on background may be helpful to others having similar problems, but yeah following the guy out of the house to the garage........ Also I really "love" those vids where the guy mumbles incoherently, then layers some outrageously loud thrash music over the video at 10X volume, stepping all over the barely audible narrative audio, then skips/fails to include/ edits out the most important step. I sometimes think, "Seriously? This has got to be a joke or parody."

Thank you for making this video. I had failed a state emissions inspection because they couldn’t keep a live connection to my OBD2 port. Watched your video. Identified three not so tight pins. Tightened. Passed emissions. Saved me time and money.

Thank you for the instruction! Just a heads up if anyone sees this: after fixing the loose pins, still no connection, so I adjusted all of them. Still no connection. On a lark, I started testing fuses and a 7.5 fuse in the engine bay was blown. After replacing it, I regained the ability to connect to the OBD port. So if you're having trouble after doing this, check your fuses.

You are truly a life saver! I couldn’t find anyone who explains how to open the OBD II port on my 2014 Camry to fix the pins. You gave such a great detailed explanation it would be impossible to not be able to do it and I really appreciate your clear explanations! Thank you so much!

Best ever video on the topic of OBD II period. The OBD II on my 2001 Nissan Sentra worked fine with scanning tools but I participated in a new insurance project that required and OBD II Dongle installed to relay distance travelled among other parameters to a phone app, the pins on this Dongle were a bit finer and smaller than those of the scan tool so the Dongle was not able to read or power on. It powers on for a few seconds but an amber light comes on shortly and it goes dead but with your unique ingenious video I was able to fix this problem by lifting these metallic levers a bit and narrowing the gap. I was thinking this is like a huge project and that I have to change the whole damn port and I was thinking the connectors were welded :) and I also did not know that the plastic cover at the front comes out that easily just by a pinching. Great Job man, looking forward to more ingenious solutions to other parts.

Great job! Excellent explanation and detail. I'm not sure about most viewers, but I do similar vids with my vehicles and projects and I know what it takes to hold/run/set-up a camera, get a good well-lit in-focus shot, working with one hand while filming with the other, narrate on the fly, never mind editing afterward, it's not as easy as it looks, so I can appreciate the effort put into making a concise and coherent instructional video. Thanks.

Thank you for creating this video. I thought seeing the metal thing was great. However if you ever need a great photo when photographing diamond rings..... Back up at least 4-6 feet if possible. Then zoom in using even a cheap cell camera. It really works. Evaluate different distances of how far the camera is from the item. This technique can create excellent pictures.

This totally helped my wife’s Grand Cherokee which I haven’t been able to connect to for years. It seems the mechanics can do it but I can’t with mine or the scanners from the auto parts stores. Great review which truly shows how rough some folks are when plugging in devices to the OBDII port. Those pins didn't get larger on their own so it only shows that previous users of the port were not gentle enough or had the wrong type of equipment in past uses. I swear that a lot of mechanics or technicians are worse than the faulty parts on cars and trucks due to their collateral damage abuse when working on other peoples property. I 've seen first hand how mechanics will damage other parts when getting access to the parts they want to replace or test. Unbelievable mental capacity. What they are really thinking about is what the book time is to do a job and in order to make the job profitable, they have to complete their work in the time allowed in the book. Not so...those times are based on brand new vehicles with zero wear, clean, healthy plastic etc. vs. 5 years later when things are stuck, brittle, tight, rust, road film etc.
@cookmaster3626 Жыл бұрын
Excellent video covering the diagnosis and fix. I wish that one could buy a pre terminated OBD connector with a short stub cable, that you could cut the old connector off and splice the new connector's wires to the respective original wires. This way you will have a new life to the connector.

Actually the shop had just finished some major repairs on the engine. They had the intake manifold removed and a bunch of stuff disconnected. I believe they unintentionally set most of these codes. After the repair they needed to clear the check engine light but couldn't communicate with the scan tool. After I managed to get the codes cleared, the check engine light did not come back.

This helped me fix the OBDII port on my '14 Prius V. I'd have my Bluetooth dongle plugged in, and running the Dr. Prius app caused DTC's that weren't really a problem, and this actually caused drivability issues, hybrid battery not charging, braking issues, etc, until the codes were cleared. Also, I'd have to hold the dongle at an angle to get it to connect. I found pin 14 loose with a paperclip, depinned it as repaired it. Thanks for this!!

By experience, put a leather glove on the hand holding the female pin to prevent an Ouch...Also a quick spray of Deoxit afterwards helps prevent excessive friction that could bend the hole wide again and prevents oxidation.
