This is a GREAT video. I learned more than at the class I took at my dealer's store! I've had my SNC2 for a year and cut a few things but all of the other video's I've found were too fast and really assumed viewers were already acquainted with their machines. And, now SNC2 videis are few & far between since the new models have come out. Thank you!

i wonder how we can better figure out if we should adjust the blade pressure, the cut pressure and the cut speed. I do test cut all the time. It seems ok when it just cut the small square, triangle etc. Then when it start cutting the project with e.g. big or small circle, shapes, it screws. I'm not able to capture the right number of the three when it comes together. Besides, I found out SNC unable to capture the JPEG well unless in way high resolution. strange enough that even it can see what it supposed to cut but when switch to draw, the thing completely disppeared.

@craftwithmay6 жыл бұрын
Diana May I have a test mat- it’s a mat I cut through! I used packing tape creatively on the back and I use it when doing tests. What I’ve learned is when in doubt- start light. Better to cut a second time then cut up a mat! Good luck to you as you enjoy getting to know your machine!

Can I cut faux leather vinyl or ribbon with the scan and cut? Thank you
@craftwithmay4 жыл бұрын
The newest model (scanncutDX) cuts up to 3mm including leather, plastics, etc. so yes the materials you mention should absolutely work! You may have fraying issues with your ribbon depending on material, but you can stiffen/add stabilizer. Both of those are probably workable on the old model (SNC2) that you are commenting on as well depending on thickness.

if the mats no longer sticky is there a paste you can use to make the mat sticky again ..thanks
@craftwithmay6 жыл бұрын
No, once cleaning no longer works it will be time for a new mat. I get soooo many projects out of each mat and blade, at the point of losing stickiness they generally are fairly beat up and it makes sense all around.

Just opened my bro again after having it sit for a year. I found your video it is very helpful but I still can’t get this thing to work. It keeps spitting mat out before it “cuts” so it never cuts anything. Going to all Brother helpline. I love yiur style of teaching. Hopefully I will watch another and NOT trash this thing!

Thank you for your video. Never thought I would get this machine. My friend gifted me and I am struggling to use it. Its scanner keep picking up the wrong lines to cut even after I press the "outline only" button. It still detect the inside lines and cut all of them. Do you know how can you help me on this please? Many thanks.
@craftwithmay4 жыл бұрын
Chic Super Housewife a few thoughts- first make sure you have the software updated. Sounds silly, but sometimes that’s a thing! Secondly make sure whatever you are scanning has an even strong line. Assuming it does, you should be able to see on screen and make adjustments to where it cuts/move the cut outline to be more or less. Hope that helps!

Julie, I primarily will be cutting, my own computer made graphics. I need to convert jpegs or PNGs to cutting files, understanding the size adjustment on JPGs will distort. What is a safe way to convert them, or is it just easier to scan a printed example and then have the machine cut it?

Hi May, great tutorial! Im thinking of investing in the Scan and Cut, I want to cut 3mm felt. Will this machine cut shapes and fonts without problem?
@craftwithmay4 жыл бұрын
Hello! The video you are commenting on is an older model, one that does not cut that deep. The newer model (DX) has both auto blade and capacity to cut up to 3mm, yes. I have dozens of videos on the DX model as well, and often cut thicker materials such as felt.

Hi!! Thank you for this!! I'm trying to convince my pocketbook that I *need* this....it looks great!! Here's my question: if I want to cut out a stamped image of a word, such as THANKS, can I keep that image in the scan n cut so I can just cut that word out next time without stamping and scanning the image. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!!
@mayflaum39858 жыл бұрын
Yes you can scan + save file and cut anytime on anything. resize it even. However! Should you want to stamp onto that cut file, it's far easier to scan it in and cut each time vs cut outline then try to stamp on it.

What are all the different materials that the scan and cut will cut?
@craftwithmay6 жыл бұрын
There is not a finite list, because it cuts so much! The general rule is, it has to fit in thickness wise and be "cut-able" meaning if I put a sheet of heavy uncuttable metal in... well that wouldn't work! Fabric, paper, wood veneer sheets, felt, chipboard... I've cut a LOT! And I swear every few weeks someone shares another idea. Shrink plastic, vellum... you get the picture!

A year later I hope you can answer: I just got the S&C2. I stamped leaves in oranges and yellows, no black edges. Its not cutting. Do there have to be black edges to cut? 2: will it cut on watercolor 140lb paper???
@craftwithmay7 жыл бұрын
Kathy I regularly cut 140lb just fine, though watercolor paper is hard on any blade or scissors it does cut. Yes. Also no the color black isn’t a requirement. It does need enough contrast to be able to clearly pickup or see what you want cut out making dark or bright colors on white the most obvious of good examples for what is easy. If you have solid stamped shapes clear for cutting you may need to play with settings and adjust things once scanned for sensitivity- when I scan I often adjust the # of colors and/or other settings on screen to try and pick up my best cut.
@zacsgran16 жыл бұрын
My scan and cut came with a black and white mat not a blue mat and not a fabric transfer. What is an I supposed to get a blue mat all the videos I’ve watched everyone uses the blue mat even those with the scan and cut 2 350
@craftwithmay6 жыл бұрын
Sue Ross Redmon different machines come with different bundles/options. The mat you’re describing sounds like the new (best) mat that you see me use in more current videos. Double check the box and/or if you ordered online what was supposed to be included but sounds like standard mat/package.

what is the correct way to place Glitter HTV. does it go up or down
@craftwithmay6 жыл бұрын
the matte finish/back side should be UP. The shiny/glittery side is the transfer sheet and you do NOT want that cut, therefore it should always be placed down/against the mat. This goes for all materials with a backing/transfer/stabilizing sheet. You want that part against mat vs against blade. Hope that helps!
