Thanks for another great detailed breakdown. As a beginner, i dont need many of these options yet but it definitely helps understanding how things work in the world of laser.

You should be able to use this to isolate the dwell time for a given speed and apply it to any speed needed. Unless the delta V of the laser head isn't consistent, but even if it's not the difference would be miniscule.

@@LaserEverything I did run into an issue. I got 100 spd dead on but after that everything remained the same. I even shifted my 500 spd to 7mm with no change. Besides line shift, would initial offset come into play?

Thank you! I know my new laser has some offset issues, however the splash on wood makes it difficult to figure out. I ordered some business cards and can't wait to try this! Thanks for being awesome!

I had some very bad ghosting appear on my new laser. It is a Thunder so everything was inputted into lightburn at the beginning but then weeks in this ghosting just appeared. After researching what the problem was on KZbin, I went into Lightburn to disable Offset Adjustment to begin and found it was disabled. I dont know how but I new how to correct it in a hurry. Got off lucky this time.

so I dove into this and found another problem. As my machine is slowing down, the line gets squiggly. As the speed increases it goes away, but at 100 & 200 its pretty bad. Any ideas what to look for?

Do you have any kind of test for pulse width adjustment on a diode laser? I ran this test on Baltic birch and feel like I can get almost 259 dpi vs advertised 254. I am sure power speed and material means a lot.

By the way thank you so much!!!!!! my engraving is 10x better then stock.. still unsure if i need to add in say 20mm speed and 50 and 80 and so on or does 100 cover 0-100 and 200 covers 100-200?

Do as many speeds as you can and Lightburn will average out all of them. The more speeds you do, the more accurate it will be.

Hi. thank you for your info. One thing, i managed to correct the offset, but, it was corrected on a 10x20 mm rectangle, not on a 200 x 300 mm image; any idea what may I have missing? thanks again.

the size of the image isn't going to make any difference - this just affects how the lines line up, big or small it is still the same starting process

I set just one value for line shift at 1000mms (hybrid drivers). I am having an issue on large etches where the center is off but the outsides are fine. Is this because I did not set lower speed values???? I also tested on small area etches which might be large enough to get that full speed. Mechanically my machine is new and I checked all the belts and lenses. Thanks.

It's best to have a few data points for speed. Especially with a gantry machine, the head isn't moving at the demanded speed for the entire length of travel, it needs to accelerate to that speed from a stop, so it may be over-correcting or under correcting for other speed values. I would suggest adding more correction points to assist with the auto curve the software generates for in-between values. Normally I would start with every 100mm/s (100-500) but for the hybrid driver/servo systems that can handle 1000 or more speed, would go all the way up to max at the same increment. You can do larger jumps to try and save time (like 200mm/s increments), but you'll get better results with 100. I haven't found a need to go smaller than that on any of the machine I have access to. That may help with the shifting you're seeing, but be sure you're doing both parts of the adjustment, to make sure the contour line follows the engrave fill too.

hello! I have this problem with my laser and when I enter the corresponding parameters, the lines move! The fact is that when you put several designs at the same time, 6mm squares, the lines at the ends separate and in the center it engraves well. I don't know what to do, I have adjusted the tension of the belts appropriately and it still happens.

So, typically this process is only to fix laser on/off times. So as the gantry swings one way, its just an on/off timing for the laser source to get right. This means if you have 1, 3, 15, any number of engraved squares in a line for your example, all the start and end points on all the squares should be more or less identical with being in-line with the rest of the lines for that object. What you are describing sounds more like the acceleration available might be impacting your engrave. The motors under load of the weight of the gantry and head swinging back and forth may not have the torque to accelerate quick enough in a small window. The motors may be underdriven on amperage (you'll have to check the drivers to see what they are set to, and the motors spec sheet to check what they are rated for), or the speed you are going might just be too fast for those motors to achieve with their torque before reaching an engraved object (and thusly affecting the offset adjustment for the start and end of only the 1st and last objects respectively). Think of it like a car on a runway. The laser is only giving itself so much runway to start and stop, right? You can kind of assess this further by adding a box the same height or bigger as the other objects, with 0% power on another layer to the left and right of the rest. Spread it out just a little. This will force the laser to pass further over to the left, and to the right, of the items in the line, and give the laser more time to accelerate to speed. This takes the acceleration out of the equation and only tests it at the demanded speed. If thats good, then you need to troubleshoot whether that speed is achievable with your hardware, or if its a physical, configuration/setting related problem and go from there. Hope that helps!

Downloaded and for Mode and SPd/Power says Multi with no selection available. Why is that ? See in the video its set to fill.
@LaserEverything
@LaserEverything 11 ай бұрын
There are two files I discuss in the video for two different uses as part of the process. One has a contour line and one doesn’t. To have a contour line on the same object and layer, it needs to be added as a sub layer. You opened the version of the file designed for that portion of the testing. That’s why it’s multi, it’s a line and fill :)
