Scaption strengthens the scapula retractors, posterior rotator cuff muscles & the deltoid muscle.
Improves upper body posture.
Start with no weight & gradually progress to very light dumbbells.
Technique is more important than amount of resistance.
Helps to prevent & rehabilitate injuries caused by strength imbalances & poor shoulder biomechanics.
Stand in good posture.
Feet slightly wider than shoulder width.
Arms hanging by side.
Shoulder neutral (thumbs facing forward.)
Retract scapulas (Pinch inferior medial borders toward spine.)
Hold this position throughout the exercise.
Contract your core. Exhale & slowly raise your arms to 90 degrees (Arms parallel to floor). If unable to hold scapular retraction, stop arm motion when scapula retraction is lost.
Inhale & lower arms to starting position.
Move slowly & with precision through a pain-free range of motion.
Start with the number of reps you can currently perform with proper technique & build to 15 reps.
