I read the novelization and I enjoyed it more than the original movie. Between Scar's new back story and Nala being more of a character instead of just being a love interest and the new hyenas being a menacing treat instead of just being comic reliefs - too bad that the movie was so dull and boring, if it was animated like the original was it had the potential to be really, really good.

Mufasa and Scar should've had a heart-to-heart long before things dissolved to the point of murder. I really think that if Mufasa had reached out to his brother and extended the olive branch before things turned sour between them, a lot of this could've been avoided. Thankfully, Simba had the chance to correct that mistake with his son-in-law, Kovu.

Taka in the context of "want" makes much more sense considering his backstory , scar always desired for things he didnt or couldnt have: to be king, to have Sarabi, to be respected, to be loved. Update: @Tesynia LaZuri Uhuru kindly helped me understand that takataka actually means trash. Still, I do feel that the origin of scar's jealousy of Mufasa is alot more complex and deserves a deeper analysis.

I believe that Scar and Mufasa were truly the best of friends and promised to always look out for each other until Mufasa was brought to spend more time with Ahadi to learn how to be a great king. Ahadi and scar never really met eye to eye. Scar was disappointed that he could no longer spend all the hours in the day with his brother. Mufasa started to focus on being a great king. Everything was falling into place for Mufasa as he met sarabi. Ahadi was proud of Mufasa. Scar was not only missing his brothers company but he felt that Mufasa had chosen everyone over his other half, over his brother. Ahadi treated Scar differently to Mufasa, he still looked after Scar but he had greater respect for Mufasa. While Ahadi mistreated Scar, Mufasa would stand back and watch because he was just as scared as Scar. Scar finally plucked up the courage to ask Ahadi why he being treated differently and Ahadi gave scar his scar. As Ahadi‘s time had come and Mufasa rose as the new king, Scar had drifted from his brother. Although, they never talked and over time there was deep hatred after Mufasa failed to look out for his brother like they promised. Scar had taken the promise very seriously. Mufasa was aware he had broken that promise and never exiled or disowned Scar as mufasa felt guilty. Mufasa was unaware of the hatred Scar had for his brother now. Scar killed mufasa to show him exactly how it feels to be betrayed and let down by someone you trusted the most

Well for be prepared, it can't be helped since Scar's and the hyena's character is changed entirely. Scar being more serious and spiteful, while the hyena is depicted to be not dumb anymore, at least Shenzi is since she has that threatening female boss vibe. With the original be prepared first half is all about Scar mocking how dumb the hyena is, before he begins to explain the plan then, the only useable part from the original song is from the "prepared from the coup of the century" onwards and Disney has to fill in the blank for the other half.

Scar being older, but passed up for the throne because of his lack of physical prowess would make for a far more compelling story. Scar wouldn't just be evil for evil's sake, but instead would be jealous because he lost his birthright. So him killing Mufasa wouldn't seem to be only justified by jealousy.

Wow, this was a pretty good new backstory, Isaac. I feel like it was an expansion on the reason behind Scar's hatred and envy towards his brother Mufasa. And knowing that in the live action film, he had romantic feelings for Sarabi, and was jealous of her relationship with Mufasa, truly expands on the lore of the Lion King world. We all remember that in a deleted scene of the original animated film, Scar attempted to seduce Nala as his Queen, and knowing that he attempts to do the same to Sarabi, shows just how much they were willing to expand upon. Also, if I may make a suggestion. I think one of your next videos should be a full story on Melody, Ariel's daughter. I watched your full stories on Ariel, Ursula, and Morgana, and considering that, I think it wouldn't hurt to delve into everything we know about the daughter of the Little Mermaid.

If you actually read A Tale of Two Brothers or read about Scar's history (94 or 2019 versions) , you'll see that most of his hatred & jealousy towards Mufasa really comes from their father, Ahadi.* As for Scar in the 2019 version, I saw the movie last night and I liked how they made his hatred for Mufasa go beyond just being next in line for the throne (after Mufasa dies or Simba) and how they added this new love triangle between Mufasa, Sarabi, & Scar. We all knew that Scar was jealous and (grew to) hate(s) his brother, but now we have another possible clue as to why their relationship isn't so great. You're entitled your opinions and I respect them, but I honestly believe that this makes Scar's backstory more interesting and gives him a greater amount of character development than he already had. It all just made me love Scar as a villain even more. *I DO wish that they added more about the family history in the new movie, though.

It is the parents fault...Can you imagine that if only scar was loved truly in spite of his flaws he won’t feel as an outcast and be so bitter that his own family treat him as a stranger which as an adult make him reject any sign of love that mufasa shows toward him. Of course nothing that scar did is justified but by understanding his backstory we can get where is he coming from. it so sad that’s a lot of monsters are created by people who is supposed to love them.

The other lions were HYPER ABLELIST AF, Scar wasn't wrong and they deserved what they got, tho Scar didn't. He didn't have any other options beyond giving up what little dignity or love for self he had. No one else was going to give it to him- Also I stand by the theory had Mufasa had Kiara as his daughter and first born instead of Simba (Simba perhaps being a brother rather than a father-) Mufasa would of lived. Sure it's incest, but they're also LIONS and she'd be super into him & we all know it. (Sorry Kovu, your daddy's a DILF // according to Kiara at least X-3)

Isn't that how it is? The unfair treatment from parents toward their children severely damages the relationship. Scar wants to prove himself and he indeed has high intelligence, but it's all vain when he knows his older brother will take all, whether it's the throne or the one he loves. He knew that no matter how much effort he made to appeal himself, it will eventually be useless because there are things he has no control over on.

The song undee the sea and the reason mermaids hate humans .means the little mermaid doesn't fit other Disney universe. Especially in the Lion King . Even Though Hans Christine Anderson appeared in the little mermaid series . The only Disney universe I fits with is Narnia

In the animated universe How scar got his scar in canon was During his time as leader of the guard, he wondered off into the outlands (since ya know he had the roar no one could touch him) he met up with this lion alot this lion put the thoughts of power in scars head And one day he led him towards the volcano and a snake rushed in cutting scars eye with its teeth.
