Scarborough looks like a really cosy town and the Terror Tower looks like a lot of fun, especially if you're a horror movie nerd! Just about the right amount of scary. The name Scarborough also intrigues me as there is a region in western Sweden named Skaraborg - I wonder if there is some kind of connection there...! Also feeling a bit jealous that there are so many nice little fairs in seemingly just about every seaside town in England, while we have almost none in Sweden. Like, the seaside city where I live has over 100,000 inhabitants and the beaches and promenades are always packed with people on nice summer days, in a climate very similar to northern England - and yet, we haven't even got the tiniest little fair! And the same goes for nearly every other Swedish seaside town, so I feel we could learn a lot from England there!

Scarborough is named from the Old Norse byname Skarði + Old Norse borg 'fortress', 'fortified town'... Quite a few English place names go back to Viking influences! Especially on the east coast 😊

@@alexgray7422 Thank you, that's interesting - so then there actually is a clear etymological connection there. I looked it up, and Skara apparently comes from "skåra", meaning "crevace" or "ravine". While borg is still the Swedish word for "fortress" or "castle".

I love how many small traditional amusement parks there are over there across the pond. We've got quite a few in the states. however, it's hard to get to most of them because they're all spread out across the country and a lot of them are in the middle of nowhere.

Vlogs like this are fantastic for showcasing the fun to be had at the UK’s coastal resorts as they try to get back on their feet. Scarborough is a great resort with plenty to do for everyone and you’ve captured this really well. Great video!

Looks like you had a great day,its lovely to see you out and about again,haven't been to Scarborough this year yet so it was lovely to see it,its taken me a week to get round to watching as I'v been busy with work and other things and wanted to wait till I could enjoy it properly,and it was worth the wait,I took my Son in Terror Towers when he was about 7 or 8 in the nineties and he got chased down the last corridor by the man from Texas chainsaw massacre and he still mentions it now and he's 30,I think I traumatised him,it was good to see it again though,now looking forward to the Bridlington vlog,one of my regular haunts,which I can watch straight away,thanks for sharing and take care,Pete x

Terror tower used to be really good especially in the 2000s they used to have a headless horseman and a buzzard which talked but I still have nostalgic memories of it I've been coming to scarborough for 25 years and I'm coming in August. I'm even writing a crime fiction novel set in scarbados about a religious cult can't wait to work on chapter 1!!!! 😁😁😊👍🤓

@@TomandStace they are very good. Last went to York one post lockdown and liked it but not one of my favourite tbh. But loved the smaller group sizes (only 3). Felt more intimate and the social distancing stuff all worked. Before that, did Blackpool and absolutely loved it pre covid lockdown and I felt that was such a turning point to what has been such a shite year for us all. It felt weird knowing only few weeks later, lockdown would happen

Terror Tower looks different.Firstly what happened to the elevator and in the last part where it says Get Out on the wall,the masked actor with the chainsaw used to come up behind you.

If you love dolphins Stacey you can visit the sea lions close by on the beach. We saw them a few years ago you just need to be really careful and not get to close to them as they can get scared and swim away. There is also the sea life centre not sure if you have visited before?

Great vlog! We love visiting Scarborough but have never dared to try Terror Tower 🤣 Now seems like a good time without the live actors! There's also a great Pirate adventure golf near the Sealife Centre but not the Merlin owned one. Its family owned and well worth a try! 😊

Terror tower seems a lot different since lockdown. A lot of the effects are gone and the lights seem to be turned on in areas like the spider corridor, which is a shame as it ruins the atmosphere alot..hopefully after covid is all over it will all be back to its original state!
