You didn't talk about the police chief that stayed with Cindy for a few months, they dated and he was also a suspect. Considering he knew when she would be alone and where she would be at all times. It also lines up with not taking fingerprints or seeing who's pubic hair was found at the scenes. I think he knew something more and was partially involved.

Roy saying she had split personality disorder even though she spent two months in a psychiatric ward and they pretty much said no she's fine the biggest issue is the stress of her life being at risk and no one believing her. Makes me think he was an abusive relationship and maybe gaslighting or dragging her throughout a good part of a relationship that she may not have known of. It could have caused the inconsistencies with her stories. Abusive relationships do do this to discredit the other person and make them think that they're insane. Gaslighting doesn't just have to be making you question yourself but it can also involve flight drugging as well. And making others discredit you or making you discredited with anybody else. It makes you second-guess your own sanity so much you do become insane. And wondering if he didn't know someone in the police department. I mean to be honest you can literally turn on Police radios on your phone and hear them. You can figure out if they're staking out a house and just watching it. They talked over there radio all the time. They double-check on locations of vehicles all the time.
@wired4933
@wired4933 4 жыл бұрын
Well to be honest, DID does disguise itself as being a normal person. So I'd have to give him that. But then again nobody would know and back then nobody was educated about the disorder. I am just sick and tired of everyone putting the blame for negative behaviour on this disorder without any further research. It puts a bad light on people who actually have DID. To develop this disorder someone had to be going through years of extreme abuse in their early childhood and there was no talk of that being the case with her. If someone goes through trauma in later life, they can simply just snap. They can develop mania, psychosis, BPD and other things that make your brain do weird things. I absolutely agree with you by the way. And I don't understand why nobody has thought about any other suspects in this case. I don't think this was a suicide.
@plvthena
@plvthena 4 жыл бұрын
Even today many mental health professionals don't believe DID exists in the first place. So it's not surprising that she could've had it and not been diagnosed. I'm not saying she did or didn't have it but I don't think those 2 months really hold any weight.

Roy Makepeace's history in the field of psychiatry could definitely explain a lot in this case. Gaslighting Cindy is a very possible explanation, from the voicemail he allegedly received to claiming that she had "split personalities" known now as DID. He could've very well painted her as a "crazy person" and his profession as a psychiatrist being used as to convince law enforcement that he knew what was "wrong" with her. We know that she alleges abuse during their marriage as well as her claiming that he was in fact her stalker. Being married to a person would certainly grant access to information like location, identity (even after legally changing her surname), etc. We should also consider that in the time period that this took place (late 70s-80s), domestic violence legislation was nowhere near the level it is today. It was hardly acknowledged as a problem and in extreme cases that WERE in fact investigated by police, the men were listened to more so than the women. I'm not going to rip on a dead man and say he did it but given the evolution of psychiatry, domestic violence laws, and forensic science, I think this case would have a totally different investigation (and possibly outcome) in today's society.
@kibblesona
@kibblesona 4 жыл бұрын
I know a LOT of things don't add up in terms of Makepeace's sole involvement of the stalking and eventual death of Cindy James. I think there were multiple parties involved, regardless if one of those people was indeed Makepeace. This is far from a clear case and like you said, the likelyhood of there ever being a clear verdict is scarce. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, I'm merely speculating and I'm sure with more research, I would have a different analysis of it all
@ssharkbait

True. And her behavior started only 4 months after the divorce. I looked up the age on onset for split personality disorder, and 80% of cases develop before age 20. So with these 2 pieces of info, I think it would be a huge coincidence if she developed it so soon after a divorce.

I would bet money that the husband did it. There have definitely been cases of psychologists being abusive people and using their expertise as a cover, Multiple Personality Disorder was commonly attributed to people who didn't have it. The voicemail and fire make me think there were two people involved. Also police definitely mishandle cases all the time, especially domestic violence cases. They wrote her off as crazy because it was easier and maybe, like other comments have said, a person on the force was involved, cops do cover for each other afterall. Any time a woman is killed and the cops shrug and her husband says she was crazy, I'm going to take it with a pile of salt.

One thing that people need to know is that DID is a coping mechanism to escape past trauma, not create more. The alternate personalities exist to protect the core and yes while some of them self harm and commit suicide, it's because its seen as an act of mercy so that they wont have to live fragmented anymore. It's also extremely rare/basically unheard of for people with DID to not have vague memories, it feels like you're recalling a dream but they're still memories nonetheless. Also switching can take some time to transition. Often they just stare into space and and sit perfectly still for a while. Anyone around them would notice this including the person with DID. If she really had DID to an extreme where she was another person, then she would know and most likely seek psychiatric help. It's incredibly suspicious to me that a man educated in psychiatry would profile her with DID knowing the true nature of the disorder.

@DoziPNG
@DoziPNG 3 жыл бұрын
@@smrtfasizmu6161 A lot of psychologists, counsellors and doctors seem to be quite unaware of the disorder, or not believing in it if they do happen to know. Often it's switched out for schizophrenia or 'imaginary friends' which can really make someone feel like they're lying even when they're not, and they often get pushed into those boxes. People seem to fear sufferers of DID like they fear 'psychopaths' or anti-social disorders, when really both tend to not reach the extreme or even be all too similar to what is depicted in movies. It's really damaging and concerning because the people who need help can't seem to get help, or at least not for the right thing.

I think Cindy was witholding more information, perhaps in fear people wouldn't believe her (which matches her diagnosis at the psychiatric hospital). I think she blamed her ex-husband in an atempt to cover up for the real stalker. The voice recorded does sound like a woman, so it could be possible she was being stalked by a group of people including a female. We'll never know unless someone comes forward. May she rest in peace.

Cindy's sister did it. Roy and Cindy's sister murdered and chopped up the young couple on the cruise and hid it as best they can. Cindy discovered what was going on, and made the claim to the police and nothing came of it. However Roy and Cindy's sister weren't okay with someone knowing what happened and decide she needs to be eliminated. That's why the call saying "Cindy Dead Meat" sounds like Cindy, because it is actually her sister. That's my half-assed theory.

@@thisreplywillbeuselessbuth9879 This is true. My initial thought was that she didn't make it known that she knew about the murdering of the couple. Maybe they were hoping she would get the message and not say anything, and maybe she had threatened to release more information or something. It could also be possible that they simply hoped they wouldn't have to kill her over it, after all it was wife/sister they would be murdering. If I recall correctly, it was shown that she was withholding information during her polygraph test. Could be due to her knowing more information about the supposed murders Roy and her sister did? I dunno, like I said the theory didn't have a whole lot of thought put behind it.

It’s hard to appreciate when all we’ve seem to have done has also resulted in some unwanted side effect, and of course the people themselves can be such carpet burns. Myself included. I pray often to whatever entity(ies) exist in the universe, that whoever struggles will be safe, whoever has not will not, and justice will be served for all. I understand this has the chance of being false hope that could lead to disappointment, but I stay by it. Another thing that adds to my hate for 90% of mankind is my love for astronomy. When stars like UY scuti exist, and definitely much bigger, what’s the point of us? Lying in a ditch with amnesia? hmm interesting it involves a stocking, were they hers? we need very minute details on these things. amnesia could have been brought about by a possible drugging. that may have been an attempt at her life, the only reason we have doubt is we dont know if she took a drug test after that. What the precautions are. etc. What do yall think? We already know about polygraph testing and it's not acceptable in court because it relies on the nervousnessbof a person. She was very shaken up about the whole ordeal. going into making a firm statement about a stalker is terrifying in itself. X for doubt boys.

Yeah probably murder I mean I live in a neighborhood and I've only called the pump two times and more so to just kind of have someone turn down their music at 4 a.m. that is literally shaking my windows. Call the cops because there was an aggressive dog roaming around the streets that was foaming at the mouth. Animal control that I needed to have the cops called First and they would come out with the police. So I called the police. And they treated me like I was some crazy bitch that calls in over the grass being too tall. I've lived out in the country and quite frankly I don't want to call the cops for anything. But I could tell this dog was probably rabid and I'm not allowed to discharge Firearms inside the city limits. Also who knows maybe the dog had just gotten into something and was sick. Definitely didn't want to be shooting anyone's dog especially when I know little kids are up and down the road. I'm wondering if she didn't get treated like this as well. We literally have a condemned house at Ben next door to us for about 10 years it's been condemned before I've ever lived here. There were over 30 people who are doing meth and crack living in that house at one point. The new homeowner had come and tried renovating things and tried getting rid of them. I had to start calling the police whenever they showed because they were stealing water and electricity from me. Cops acted as if I was the problem not the 30 people living in an abandoned house that all the other neighbors had issues with as well. I eventually relied on my neighbor rather than calling the police. What if her stalker knew someone in the police? Or paid someone off. They obviously believed him saying she had split personality disorder. That's signs of him being abusive right there he's gaslighting her and making her seem as if she's insane to discredit anything she says. But cops don't see that. They see one lady calling him all the time she ain't dead yet and if the guy is broken in and stabbed her in the arm if you wanted to kill her he would have so they were probably thinking she was staging this for attention since she's divorced.

Murdered by a very manipulative and intelligent man. If only drug tests were done more easily then. If this happened now, she would go to the ED and the first thing they would do is a drug test. Though tbh I think her own drug use is an issue in this, given her appearence.

I couldn’t imagine having DID, let alone DID where one of your personalities wants to harm or kill you. As they say reality is often stranger than fiction. @brooklynnlaurick1859
@brooklynnlaurick1859 4 жыл бұрын
A person with DID living with an alter that is trying to kill them is actually more common than you think. The thing about alters is that they are there to protect you from trauma (it _is_ a dissociative disorder, after all). Unfortunately, "protect them" can be misinterpreted as "remove them from this traumatic world." Consequently, the alters make attempts at harming the system (and therefore the host) in order to cease the trauma. This is one reason why suicide rates among DID patients are so high. The reason I don't think this is happening here, though, is that an alter's attempts at suicide don't usually include tying themselves up or leaving themselves in a ditch. Remember, this is _alter's_ body, too. Their "job" is to remove trauma, not cause it. Either way, it is a sad situation. She didn't deserve to die so young regardless of how it happened.

From my experience and guesses: 1, People can be blind af, the body sat there for 2 weeks until the jogger found it is not impossible. 2, Cindy was extremely unlikely to be suffering from a severe enough mental disorder that can lead to suicide. 3, Multiple suspect murder probably is the No.1 possibilty, the ex-husband had no motivation to provide the woman voiced clip, in fact he has no motivation to record it. People don't just keep recordings like that and when the police came knocking with no hard evidence on said matter, people usually will not make the matter more complicated. If the police got no dirt they'll go away eventurally and the current matter will resolve itself, so why provide voice clip? The only explanation would be mental pressure to Cindy. Cindy's mental health was harmed by "people don't believe her", providing a voice clip to the police showing a possibility that Cindy had mental disorder would only make things worse. It did lead to her being convicted into a mental hospital which decided she had no sydrome. 4, When people are under attack and constant threat, their judgement will be clouded, so Cindy's multiple unreliable accuse towards her ex-husband can be explained by this. It cannot be counted as evidence for her possible mental disorder.
