And with animatronics, if they ever want to use the puppets in the future, or at least the molds, they can replicate the original puppets for the public to see, like for tourist attractions and whatnot. But now that we do have CGI, we can push some limits that they couldn’t back then.

I was really afraid of Chucky until I started to watch the movies. Most of them are pretty good, well at least so far, I've only watched 3 out of the 8 or so movies. It really helps if you confront the fear. Also, learning about behind the scenes of the movies really help. Chucky is an endearing character that I have grown to like.

Just so we’re clear, the “lazy people on computers” you speak of will spend many, MANY hours on end creating CGI models for characters and sets with extreme detail, rigging the models, creating textures, setting up the layers, sculpting the background and scenery for a scene and more all while doing this for *every* single frame in today’s movies, shows, and video games. *Lazy* is just photoshopping a shark on the Empire State Building. The amount of hard work that a lot of today’s talented artists put into media (such as James Cameron’s Avatar) is something you should stop fucking putting down. The people who worked on animatronics for movies work hard, but so do the people who work on CGI-oriented films. *Btw, just like there is bad CGI in media, there’s also a handful of shitty puppetry and animatronics. CGI and puppetry aren’t perfect. :)*

Movies with special effects of today show how much society has regressed and that all the real artists are gone. It shows that the good old days are over since computer generated programs took over. I used to love cartoons and horror movies when animatronics were still being created and used in entertainment,as well as when cartoons were still being drawn by hand,clip by clip. When the entertainment industry still poured alot of blood,sweat,n tears into their creations,still,old school,like God intended. New school is not only lazy, but nothing is traditional,which makes the new computer generated crap not only less entertaining,but less realistic,and too commercialized that they all look the same and make you miss the same era that had us turning to computers out of curiosity out of convenience and cause it was new at the time but now these days it has become a regret,cause the best entertainment has died as a result of our thirst for technology and always trying to perfect something to the point that I say fuck it,destroy all technology so we can get back to creating things ourselves with our imagination,something we don't get to put into good use anymore cause we are now expected to rely on technology,which I hate. Before cell phones,animatronics were the thing,after cell phones,they are extinct,wtf?!?!I miss those days,people have grown real distant,schizoid,and cold since.

@@YurtletheTurtle377 Well put. I adore practical effects, but people calling CGI vfx artists lazy are simply uneducated on the subject & know nothing about how that process works. They are simply different ways of achieving effects, and both require skill, and both usually also work under heavy time constraints. I find that many of the best end results uses a mix of practical and CG, and are created in an inventive inviroment (like The Lord of the Rings trilogy seemed to have been).

I was absolutely floored upon learning that the guy who designed the Crypt Keeper had worked on other animatronics that equally hit that fight or flight nerve. I can't even look at that thing without panicking because my parents terrorized me with the character so much growing up. We need to employ animatronics again. CGI can't fool our brains enough. All it does is look pretty.
