I saw one of the first incarnations of per - Mr Big at a club in Oakland called The Omni. It was Eric, Billy, Paul, the guitarist and drummer from Tesla. Paul was wearing a Confederate General jacket or something. From what I recall, he was still in metal mode..and he burned harder than I'd seen him burn in Racer X, and I was close enough to touch his jacket. It was amazing and I'll never forget how that made me feel. Inspired is too weak a word.

Such a lovely guy. I met him when i was 17 at Newport centre backstage with some friends ( U.K Wales) i crapped myself though because he was one of my biggest heroes i found it hard to say anything which was a bummer. I remember my friend Vicky took us she was tall so i think Paul got on with her. But i stupidly asked him if he ' scored ' ( British English for make out) he just looked at me and said scored? I shrunk into the ground. That memory still haunts me. Sorry Paul!

I was at GIT when this was happening. I ask Paul about it,cause at the moment it was real secret. He got really mad and said “isn’t there enough rumors out there?” I responded by saying “If you confirm it,it would no longer be a rumor.”He wasn’t amused. Lol.

Lol. I heard him saying that it was a bad period for him, because he felt he betrayed his best friend in Racer X. No surprise that he was easily triggered and irritated at people asking him about it, why and if he truly was leaving Racer X for another band. He must've felt guilty, angry and insecure about it.

I'm listening your tunes since I was 4 year old :D . Your style is the best style I've ever heard, because of the details and they are razor sharp. That's why I think that you are the best guitar player in the world and even you said it "I worked hard to achieve". I have only one simple question, if possible please answer me, PLEASE !!! When there will be Racer X world tour ??? You are saying that you've hit the wall and there were no tour bus and there were no funds/management. I really don't get it? Racer X is one of the greatest bands in the world, with own unique sounding now known over the world and I have vinyl of "Street Lethal" album and I've heard it in 1988 when I was 4 year old and it totally blew up my mind, like your mind was blown up by Yngwie. Please Paul you can do a Kickstarter project for funding world tour of Racer X, you'll see how many fans Racer X have I guarantee you, the funds will be amazingly huge, I truly believe that if you guys (Racer X) do such thing you will make tons of people happiest people on earth !!!

That's the same thing I thought. Later, when he moves it around, you see the face has the contouring of a AR720 or something. But the cutaways aren't shaped right, so I don't know either.

Maybe Paul’s bands would’ve taken off if they weren’t such corny names. Racer X? Mr. BIG??
@suspiciousdoge9yand1046 жыл бұрын
Your opinion, man.
@TimeGallon6 жыл бұрын
Kevin James Stevens You’re right. Definitely just an opinion. I’ve watched a ton of Gilbert’s stuff and the way he speaks of the bands he was in, he said himself that they put more thought into their hair than most anything else, they even had their own hair lady that would tour with them and fix their hair. It’s just so shocking to me to hear of someone as talented as Paul Gilbert to basically say, “yeah, I was pretty much in it for the image.”

Mr Big took off. But hit the grunge wall at the same time when nobody cared about shredding or incredible bass playing
@livingbeing1113 Жыл бұрын
@@daveg4236 Yep. MrBig debut was in 1989, had brief success, but then in America they weren't cool anymore like almost everyone that got attached to the "hair metal" moniker, even if they weren't. Most of their success was in Japan and foreign countries. Anyway, Racer X was the better band with better songs, in my opinion. Can't fault Paul for taking a chance with MrBig though, and Racer X got back togheter after and gave us three fantastic records.
