My favorite of all of Scarlatti's five hundred plus sonatas . . . an absolutely SPLENDID performance! Bravo!

A master performer. Scarlatti is admirably suited to the piano and M. Noack makes the most of it.

The energy, the highlighted phrasing of some notes, and the bombastic chords in this performance of the piece gives me a Proto-Beethoven feeling despite being from a completely different era of music... Your performance of this piece is so refreshing and envigorating to listen to! 🎉🎉🎉

This is piece is underrated. Nobody talks when discussing their favourite scarlatti sonatas but I love it. My favourite version on youtube so far! I uploaded an AI version on my channel as well and made it as natural sounding as possible.

It's a shame that nobody else changes from voicing the right hand to the left hand at the finishes. Or rather, since it isn't written so in the notes, it's really fortunate that Florian Noack does it. The left hand melody in that part is really catchy.

Incredible performance of a piece I myself have been trying to play well for years. I'm alternating between two reactions: (1) No matter how much I practice, I'll never get it up to the speed and clarity of this performance. So what's the use? I might as well give up. (2) This is my goal. I may never quite get there, but the journey itself is worth it.

If Scarlatti composed his sonatas primarily as teaching aids, then he must have had extraordinarily gifted pupils if they were expected to play that fast. I have my doubts.
@RobertSweet-nw4tm2 ай бұрын
I think that Scarlatti could not possibly have intended this piece to be played as fast as possible. This pianist has pressed all the correct piano keys and has done it as fast as possible. Sadly the resulting cascade of notes is meaningless and devoid of any musicality.
@floriannoack2 ай бұрын
@@RobertSweet-nw4tm we don't know what Scarlatti meant but it is quite clearly what Scarlatti wrote :) Many other tempo indications would have been possible - Vivace, Allegro assai,.. And by the way, it is definitely possible to play it quite faster and actually many musicians (including harpsichordists) do. Whether it is to one's liking is a question that everyone has to answer for himself :)
@RobertSweet-nw4tm2 ай бұрын
@floriannoack well yes I know that musical interpretation is subjective. So I should not be so dogmatic. But listen to Horowitz or Gilels. They do not rattle through their pieces at top speed. The "as fast as possible" brigade are known as "virtuoso pianists" I believe
@RobertSweet-nw4tm2 ай бұрын
@@floriannoack also there is a female pianist on KZbin who also plays at top speed. At the end of the piece she raises her fist in triumph as if to say "wow look at how fast I have done it". Her gesture is not a celebration of its beauty or musicality. But then I must not be so arrogant.
@MaisiewupppАй бұрын
I do not think Horowitz is a prime example of an exponent of Scarlatti. His Scarlatti performances are not serious and he wanders way off the beaten track in most pieces. Written for the harpsichord, of course the tempo would have been more dynamic and the intention of the piece is have fun with it. I find its ‘cascade’ quite delightful and witty in comparison to some famous performers who drag their way through some of the slower sonatas.
Scarlatti n'est pas Beethoven. Cette interprétation est inaudible. Tout est à reprendre. C'est à se demander si l'interprète comprend ce qu'il joue. C'est malheureusement le cas de la plupart des mécaniques formées dans les conservatoires.

Not bad but too much pedalling and played too much bombastically, with accents and aggressive playing. This isn't a chase to kill someone it's a flourish of the baroque art.

@ericastier1646 Жыл бұрын
@@floriannoack You're still young and your text sounds green and you misunderstand this piece. Intent on focusing on my typo which it really was only a slip. Renaissance music is middle age sounding and either street like fanfare or sacred voice choir, luth music or cantata. Keyboard instruments did not even exist in the renaissance. I meant baroque but the word eluded me. You are incorrect to think i had not listen to other interpretations of this piece on the piano as well as on the harpsichord. Yours is the most bombastic and agressive playing, and i obviously dislike it. The harpsichord has no dynamic touch. Listen to Sergey Babayan to hear a proper interpretation of this piece or actually any other recording.
@Maisiewuppp5 ай бұрын
I don’t think Scarlatti would have given a s##t about your concerns. He would have been overwhelmed that his music was being played and enjoyed 250 years after it was written in another epoch musically and on an instrument that was unknown to him. Making music is about more than just replicating music according to the musical sensibilities of a bygone era. Surely it will die if that is the priority. The reason why there is an upturn in the popularity of Scarlatti’s music is precisely because it is such good music completely independently of the epoch it was created in. I found the joyful interpretation played with gusto just right for a young and vibrant performer.

@@Maisiewuppp Have you visited the Italian Piedmont and the palaces around majestic lakes at the foot of mountains where Scarlatti would have lived ? No you haven't, and you have no clue of what a balanced, good taste interpretation is, not a vulgar fast food, sugar high, pre diabetic shoot like delivery that matches better your degraded country living environment than the gradation and beauty of nature and classical architecture. Scarlatti would have throwed up at your s##t comment.
