Great info, always love the vids. S&V deserves a little more love imo, first set with different boarders and also the first pce etb with a stamp if I’m not mistaken. Shrouded Fable is at the bottom, lowkey a sleeper set imo.

I loved Twilight Masquerade, almost finished my master set, because it really felt like I went back to Kitakami (the SV DLC) with each card in the set. The teal mask orgerpon and blood moon ursaluna are staples in many competitive decks, reason why I believe this set has little more value than the other B tier sets.

Is it the time to pick up singles from SV set. I got the total gardevoir line for 48$
@edenlelinger33465 күн бұрын
I want to hold on to them and see if it goes up, I have a feeling they are lower than what they could be rn

I don't touch singles for investments, only for the love of the card/art. LOTS of SV singles have run up in value.

Great video! Is the sentiment for SS similar to how the sentiment was for ES upon release? Just trying to draw some analogies between the two sets. People say ES tanked first before going up. I wasn’t in the hobby back then so idk. If that’s the case then it may be possible that SS can be better than ES over the long term.
@JoshTT24 күн бұрын
I like SS and think it will do very well but it's got nowhere near the depth of ES. The chances of it doing anything remotely close to ES, let alone outperforming it are very slim. ES is a phenomenon and imo there's little point in comparing it to anything else. It's basically in a class of it's own. I don't think ES tanked, as far as I can remember it was always pretty hot.
@PokéMarketLab-t7j4 күн бұрын
I disagree on the ES vs. SS comparison (just my opinion). DIfferent times during ES with the covid frenzy which was non-organic. Different times now with what I would say is much more organic demand.

Nice video! Switch surging sparks and sv151 and the rest checks out for me. 151 has already been printed a ton over a full year and the demand still outweighs the supply, surging sparks is flavor of the month that got lucky with timing on the bull run, imo. I think prismatic and whatever the rocket set ends up being will pull attention from surging and, combined with a likely reprint, the price will come back down to earth in 2025. I'm thinking it'll get to $140-160 for a time and then creep back up over $200 eventually? I'm kinda hoping we get some sweet black Friday deals on Shrouded Fable in 2025 for $25~ etb's like we saw this year as stores try to flush out inventory
@PokéMarketLab-t7j4 күн бұрын
Really don't know where the money is going to flow in 2025. We're seeing a lot of money flow into the hobby but I agree if PC keeps putting out sets like this that could mean focus shifts elsewhere quickly. It's really a very good set though so if we see pullback into the $100s again I'll gobble it up. And keep that in mind, what we can visualize for demand in the market is NOT all the demand. Demand is dependent on price, meaning if I'm not willing to buy BBs at $200 I might be willing at $150 and my guess is there are A LOT of people who would gobble it up at that price.
@ryansosna34324 күн бұрын
@PokéMarketLab-t7j yupp I agree. Assuming there is a reprint, the timing of it will be important too I think. If it gets a reprint during a lull between sets it would be likely to dip less than if the reprint is surrounded by hype for Battle Partners, Rocket, Black/White 156, etc. We'll see!

What app or site was used to rank the most valued cards?
@cyoung71275 күн бұрын
I agree with you on the Ogerpon cards, not a fan. I also don't understand the appeal of paradox Pokemon (it just translates as lack of new ideas to me)
@ViolentRainbow5 күн бұрын
Same, ogerpon is such a gimmicky pokemon. Like I ALMOST like it, but the overall design is just awful and it could have been done so much better. I also really don't like paradox pokemon, and I wish they didn't have those stupid names like why couldn't they just be aregional variant of the existing pokemon? Like just call it ancient jigglypuff or future donphan, why the idiotic names? Again so gimmicky, and how are they possibly going to fit these gimmicky niche pokemon into future games now that they're officially their own pokemon with registered pokedex numbers and not just regional variants?! What are they gonna include time portals in future games or something?!
@cyoung71275 күн бұрын
@ViolentRainbow 100% agree. It's like they went "ancient Pokemon = dumbed down simple name; future pokemon = metal + war-themed". Why bother to build out the world more if you're gonna be that lazy with it

I believe S&V base set is a good collectors/investment set b/c it’s when the change of full art really takes hold, and it’s also when Pokemon begins the switch from yellow borders to silver/gray.
@allenlin30505 күн бұрын
So why not just go for the sets that have even better art? That logic makes no sense
@lulucolby88825 күн бұрын
I hear your point. And it makes sense for some - especially for me on all other sets. I just thought I’d ask the question to see what others think, b/c I just couldn’t shake that thought.
@edboss365 күн бұрын
@@allenlin3050if it’s dirt cheap it’s worth it. Even stuff like Sun and Moon base set goes up in value
@ViolentRainbow5 күн бұрын
It's not a good investment at all, it will probably jump some small amount in value when the SV era ends because that always happens with base boxes, but it simply doesn't contain anything of value and that is by far the biggest selling point of a set. The most expensive card is the gardevoir ex and that's only worth about $40 now. Also because it doesn't contain anything of value that causes future problems such as stock stagnation, obviously if the most expensive card in the set isn't even worth 1/5th the price of a sealed box then no one is going to be opening them because you're guaranteed to lose at least $150 even if you pull the best card! Which means there wont be sealed stock reduction, which means there wont be anything to fuel a rise in value, which means people will be desperate to offload their product causing a price reduction. It's better to leave this set alone, way too risky specially considering there are way better sets available for the same price right now that you could instead spend your money on.
@calvinwong3654 күн бұрын
Base set is nice but it's not how people pick their favorite set. Always quality over quantity. Stay away from OF unless you get it very cheap. Otherwise I. Won't touch it Battle style started the alternate art I think. And it's not a good set

Hot take! OBF better than PAL! Hard disagree from me
@ethanbarton5 күн бұрын
The nice thing about PAL is that even though it has easy pull rates, the biggest chases are the IRs, and there are like 32 or 36 of them, way more than others sets, so it's a hard pull
