in Lithuania a plant that is traditionally associated with Midsummer (a HUGE Pagan celebration over here btw) is the Fern. The folk tradition says that the one who manages to find the "fern blossom" will be blessed with love and fertility. The "practical" implication of this involves a lot of young single people "searching for fern blossoms" in the woods 😏😏

I like how you mentioned Pagans view life in a cyclical fashion, and the examples you included to elaborate on that.

This is random, but Charles Dickens got some inspiration from his children's Irish nanny during his time writing, A Christmas Carol. So, there are a lot of pagan and folklore elements in it, because of her. I love that story, so much. Especially since it keeps the whole telling ghost stories during the yuletide season alive!

Love what you said about a Christmas carol. I actually would love to see a video on your favorite pagan fiction books, movies and TV shows!

Hi Scarlet! Glad you’re back & I agree don’t worry about the numbers & ignore the algorithms & hate comments. Just keep doing what you want to do & focus on what makes you happy. You can’t make everyone happy (There’s always someone who is going to bitch & complain) so don’t even try. Thank you for your videos I really enjoy them!!

Funny you suggest to wake up early tosee the sunrise or go to bed after the sunset. I am a... well "sun person" ? Like a chicken I guess 🤣 always waking up when the sun is rising and go to bed when it's finally night ! Dunno, my body is like that I just can't sleep when it's day light... So during spring/summer I don't sleep much ! But Fall/Winter are a game changer ! 😂

This was so interesting and enjoyable. Lovely to see you back! Interesting about the cicadas- I hadn't heard that before. I remember reading from Ronald Hutton about folklore around herbs like valerian and lavender being thrown into the bonfires by young women to manifest love. And the Scandinavian folklore where young unwed women would pick 7 flowers and place them beneath their pillows to dream about their future husband on Midsommar! Sooooo fascinating! I uploaded a Summer Solstice video on my channel a few days ago as well. Solstice Blessings 🙏 🌞🥰Xxx

here in finland our holiday is called "jussit" which is one of the names of the hare, or more likely the hare goddess earlier (which could be the animal form of the earth / birth goddess, or elsewhere just a local river goddess, all deities being local originally, more like tribal totems). it does match with my personal observations in nature.. because you really start to see the hares now (especially the darker forest ones), and of course earth itself being in full bloom (they say it´s the time when the leaf is full or complete). also there is some strong ties to water or the water spirit (mother of the water and also the ancestor spirits moving through water, the other such holiday being in winter, it´s the customs of lake or riverside tribes). personally i just celebrate sunny days so fixed holidays mean very little to me (like now it was very cloudy, but i still had my fun, maybe it´s the gentle summer winds, they make even the cloudy days nice, summer winds and happy people, can´t ask much more).

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I'd like to be more connected to nature and see hares etc. I think we still have them here in the wild, quiet places in Ireland 🐇🦊🦌🐀🦔🦇🦡🦉

As far as Folklore and Mythology is concerned. When we dream and then wake we don't say that dream didn't happen, you did dream. Mythology and Folklore is the dream of your ancestors. The most we can try to do is try to find all the dreams so we can come up with a better picture of what the Gods and Goddesses were trying to tell them. To get a better picture of a black hole scientists stack pictures to make one clear picture of far away objects.
