I’m the 5% Malaysian Chinese who didn’t get to study in Duzhong because my father’s salary couldn’t support us. We had to go for free government education. But, all 3 of us supported our parents and were beside them until their last day. It’s our family who taught us responsibility and moral.

I think that we all have the good morality, it’s our tradition, no difference between private and public schools. ❤A big hug for you and your family

If you studied Chinese primary school, there already built strong foundations about what kind of moral expectations in Chinese society and you had immersed in that environment, basically that shape you up what typical Malaysian Chinese. If you go further to Chinese independence school, you should be able to have chances to access more cultural study about Chinese. Most likely you could have ability to study some Chinese ancient books, the door has opened for you to access Chinese ancient knowledge.
Well said and these are the important sharing with us on the Chinese culture and the roles of private Chinese schools in Malaysia. And you both are excellent examples of father and mother who are able to comprehend the right values and ethics in bringing up the children. I am glad that your family is happy staying in Malaysia. Best wishes.

您是智慧型的家长,把孩子送进独中哦🎉我也是独中生,顺利进大学,顺利在新加坡就业。我很多同学也顺利进入加拿大,日本新加坡 Top 大学。升学机会多。独中生真的刻勤刻苦。
You have said it right! Chinese Independent High Schools do produce "good" students, with 品德, 道德, 孝敬, ... This is undeniable fact. I have vast experience in operating tertiary education, we have recruited all type of high school graduates, Chinese Independent High School graduates stand out! Amazing!!! Scarlett , you have made the smart choice! Your kids will appreciate all the things you have done for them.👍👍👏👏

Agreed with you totally. If English medium schools still existed in the 1980's , I would not hesitate to send my children to study there. No choice ma. A big thank you to the then government to abolish English medium schools to provide rooms for Chinese schools to be the school choice. Otherwise a large percentage of Chinese particularly in the towns will opt for English medium schools. I attended Chinese school in my primary level. Initially I found it hard to compete with those from English schools.

Just to make a little clarification. I would send my children to english medium school after completing 6 years of Chinese primary schools just like me. Chinese secondary schools were not the preferred choice at that time besides the costs involved.

@@kwongleonglow1553 I share yr view by insisting to send my 2 kids to SRJKC though their mother tongue is never Chinese. This is because both my late parents were China born emigrants though the patriarch of my family emigrated to then Malaya at the turn of the 20th century. During the turbulent years of the 1960s where the survival of the SRJKC was at stake my parents insisted on putting 4 of us in SRJKC though some of my cousins were sent to English medium schools. I couldn't betray my parents by going against their wishes. Till today I still very often have lunch with my former SRJKC headmaster who's at 87. I have to travel almost 50 km to meet him(we are all in Selangor now). Had I sent my kids to non SRJKC I don't think I would walk with dignity today. I'm not alone as a number of us have children whose mother tongue isn't Chinese but sent their kids to SRJKC too. None of us sent our kids to Chinese private middle schools.
to me, I hv 3 children's, I speak with my children in English and my wife speak with them in mandarin, contonese we seldom speak because after they good in mandarin, is easy for them to learn Cantonese... beside, if a children who is good in sport, many big company they want this kind of people in their company, because this kind of children, all of it hv their own specialist, they are all hardcore, self discepline and hard learning person...

Please learn English properly. If you continue to speak to your children with such poor grammar, you will teach them bad English. They will learn from you and will have terrible English grammar. This will harm their future.
