I don't think they care. They just see how much money COD has made for their franchise and want to make that kind of money themselves. Modern EA is not capable of doing that. Core gameplay focus isn’t on their priority list, that’s why they keep trying to make the series annualized. It’s telling with how EA treats its successful developers after a miss. As for Dice, they’ve kinda made their bed, and now have to lie in it. I just hope there’s enough folks who are willing to push classic BF more than the COD flavoring.

nowadays I dont think it is that easy anymore, just look at the comments of this video. some people want more realism others want more skilful gameplay mechanics. Some just want immersion like in BF1. I just want good maps again, maps where a good inf player can have success but also reward good vehicle players

Long comment: I don't know how much to take from this ex-dev besides the internal drama and turnaround we've known about but... David "Tiggr" Sirland is the new lead producer for this newest game. For those who don't know, Tiggr is basically the guy who saved BF4 through the creation of the CTE, which is supposedly coming back with alpha testing, his job will be the overall vision, gameplay, aesthetics etc. This is actually huge, because Tiggr has been someone who clearly has a deep love of the franchise. Zampella's job is to manage the LA studio which only provides supplementary help and he's there to guide the overall vision of Battlefield from here on out. I trust Zampella. He has a great track record and the games he's been behind have always had a grittier tone with universes that make sense. Byron Beede is going to be the GM of DICE, the GM's job is not to manage the art direction, gameplay or any of that stuff. The GM's job is to make sure things are done within a timely manner, deadlines are met and the team isn't wasting time experimenting (like they did in 2042, which started as a Battle Royale). I think Bryon will mostly have input on live service implementation and future content, because that's his specialization. This is good if you're expecting better output for content drops such as new maps. This could be BAD when it comes to skins not fitting in. Lastly, DICE already tried the COD dev cycle with BC1 (2008), BC2 (2010), BF3 (2011) and BF4 (2013)... It didn't work out and they went back to a normal dev schedule. IF they do go back, it's dumb, but it also lead to some of the most beloved Battlefields that had come out. Mostly because they stuck to what worked. Also a handful of popular ex-devs have come back to the studio, including some that went to Embark. Glassdoor reviews from Embark show a lot of the same problems that devs complained about old DICE for, could be an old guard issue. I think it's worth having a pinch of hope and it shouldnt be all doom and gloom like the ex-employee says it should be. as always though...DON'T PREORDER.

@@h33tology It was only a handful and I was just doing my own research on a bored day, checking twitter profiles/linkedins. It wasn't any creative positions that came back unfortunately, like evironmental artist, animation, level designer etc. which are the big ones that left DICE and never came back. The ones that came back were a lot of gameplay design devs, such as "Tiggr", who left to Sharkmob for 2 years before the launch of 2042. From what I can see, It is mostly 75%/25% (new/old) at DICE but a lot of high quality talent. My only concern is do they KNOW what BF is, how it feels and how it looks...

People look at games like BC2 and BF3 with rose colored glasses because those games had some really silly design choices in certain ways, and DICE never seemed to respond to obvious flaws with their own game outside of stuff they could easily track through meta-data, such as overpowered guns (although I recall them taking forever to nerf the USAS-12 with frag rounds in BF3). Suppression in BF3 and 4 comes to mind the most for me. Suppression blur was just objectively bad design in an online game that is meant to be somewhat competitive. With the Infinity Ward influence, I think a modern setting that feels like Modern Warfare 2019 or COD 4 in terms of seriousness and immersion that employs the tech used for BF5 would be amazing.

@@BasePuma4007 I agree, I also would like people to know that BF1942, BF:Vietnam, BF2, and BF2142 were nothing like the modern BF's that we got. So the franchise has already been through multiple leaderships and some have been better than others, with different scopes of the game and final polish. People forgot or don't know we used to be able to pilot aircraft carriers and subs lol I also remember how crap the blinding sun and suppression were on BF3, as well as the 1 tap USAS frag rounds. It's always been a series surrounded by bad news and crappy launches. Like you said, I think we need someone with a "military hard-on" from the COD series to dial up the authenticity and scope of the series back to 10. Time will tell....

The gameplay in bfv was so good. The pacific was a game changer . It sucked that the game was finally getting to what it should have been then abandoned it. Bf2042 was just a train wreck. Bf1 was a once in a life time game, I still go back and play it from time to time.

The problem with BF5 for me was it got boring quickly. Other than that it was fun especially as a solo player. 2042 on the other hand although I disagree with it being a train wreck I think it could be much much better. In my opinion if you took out the battlefield name. It would be a damned good fps (especially now).

I remember the Pacific Update. It literally made the TTK worse. The walked back a bit on it, but it’s still worse than before it. Also, it added that stupid skin (you know which) that is spammed all to hell.

@@Dorian_Kellumbf1 kinda lost the arcadeyness of bf3/4. Fun to play infantry but a lot of the vehicle shenanigans were missing. No helis or jets, slow vehicle exit animations. Just felt like some of the bf formula was taken away.

I get that not everyone likes COD, but some of those OG Infinity Ward guys may be great for the franchise, not because they will necessarily make it a lot like COD in terms of design, but because those guys are actually really good and have a much better ability to gauge what is actually fun. They are the reason COD blew up after COD 4 and MW2, and they were the reason COD had a resurgence in 2019 when they went back to make the Modern Warfare reboot. That game was to the COD franchise that Battlefield 1 is to the Battlefield franchise. It was super gritty and really immersive. Ever modern COD since has been riding the coattails of that game.

My biggest red flag is SBMM. BF is the last casual MP shooter with no MMR in casual play. I don't trust ex-CoD devs to not implement that but we will see. I won't even touch it if it doesn't have a server browser and has an SBMM in casual mode.

Bunch of soldiers running around in different skins is not immersive. Battlefield has also been a midpoint of ARMA and COD. Shifting to COD is not the answer and is not what people want. This is stupid and the community should not preorder this bullshit. Look at Helldivers 2. It's a war, immersive, no dumb carnival skins, game has maintained itself as the 3rd highest selling game in the US and is still going. If you make a good Battlefield game you can swing the pendulum towards the COD.

The thing that makes me cautiously optimistic is Vince Zampella. He worked on the glory days of CoD, from the beginning up to modern warfare 2, and everyone enjoyed those. Titanfall 1 and 2 were both incredible as well. He has some fantastic games under his leadership, and 2042 has definitely turned around into a better game than at launch under his hands. I’m hopeful for a resurgence

I was a cod player from modern warfare to black ops 2. I tried out battlefield 3 and never touched cod again. Bf3-bf1 i played for years. Cod mw and mw2 were great games and bo1-2 were good as well. What i didn't like was the annual releases, alternating studios. It would be such a stupid move to try and chase cod. Be better like you always have been.

Biggest problem here is that trying to be cod and trying to be a good battlefield game won't work hand in hand and the higher ups will lean towards cod every time no matter how many times they need to see their project ending up as a flop , they need to compromise with one of their goals(it can't be the "making good battlefield game" part) if they want too keep Battlefield as a franchise relevant , they tried to codenize bf2042 and we all saw how that worked out...I'm ready for round 2 and that is depressing :(

I think skins are cool as long as they look like soldiers and not fortinite characters and plenty of weapon modifications such as barrel lengths and hand guards would be awesome too. I don’t think skins should be the priority of the game though.

From experience, if a game goes through multiple developers and the original devs left. The original scope of the game is not the same. Theres various examples of games that went through the same experience and the game wasnt what they expected its more like they want it out the door. So they can pump out the content for players to buy.....not the same BF, if thats the game they are pushing then im good with COD 😊 Im not spending on a similar fps game.

My favorite battlefield game was bf3, bf4 is when i notice the fall off it being it's own game. I hated bf1, sorry it was trash. Im strictly a hardcore bf player so if the game doesnt have that im probably not interested. I'd rather have a bf3 remake or remaster. If its not close to bf3 gameplay, I'll pass .I've never pre order games of any kind. I always wait for actual gameplay on youtube.

I absolutely HATE the specialist they created for BF2042! I wouldve been fine if the specialist were locked to different factions...BUT DICE/EA chose the lazy way out and decided to have the same specialist for all the factions leading to a cluster fuck of feeling like youre fighting in the clone wars and frantically trying to find out who's friendly and who's the enemy....and in the end we got a LAZY fix for it too with those lame ass glowsticks!

I sent Activision an email addressing the fact that their game is supposed to be restricted to the sell of 17 years of age and above. They are absolutely marketing this game to children. combine the all of the BF 3 & 4 multiplayer maps and in a remastered BF 4 and release that in 2025 and that is that is needed for the next Battlefield game! You could also include some of the best BF 2042 maps like Haven and some others and it would some awesome old school Battlefield fun!

With the arrival of so many HC games such as Insurgency Sandstorm, HLL, ARMA reforger, Hunt showdown I honestly dont understand how BF has been able to survive. Its literaly a clown show, you can fly with a wingsuite, climb a tower with a inflatable scooter and cringie character voices that make you go 🤢🤮 I am a happy gamer, have ARMA, has destruction after 1.3 update, ot has a massive player base and NO A.I players,because the game is so good it doesnt need A.I to fill gaps of real players

I am not going to make any judgements until the game comes out. How could the franchise get any worse??? It only can improve. The last effort was complete crap, and it started with BFV. The developers completely dropped the ball. I am not a COD fan at all but someone had to do something different than what is currently going on. I don't even want to admit this but I am 53 years old. When DICE screws up on a gaming cycle it effects me more then others due to my age 😅. They need to get this franchise back to it's glory days. Get the grit back like it had on BC2. Watch those promo ads compared to the crap that was put out for 2042. I simply could not get beyond the terrible character models, lack of guns etc. All I can do is hope.

Make the game grounded and realistic like BF1. Give us massive battles with blood, guts, screams, and gore. Give us badass characters like that of Space Marine 2. BF1 should copy Space Marine 2 with 4 player story mode. Give us that overwhelming horde feeling, but with humans instead of aliens. Make BF1 a power fantasy like DOOM or Space Marine 2 for co-op and make multiplayer a grounded realistic shooter like BF1. I want to be fighting in trenches. I want to be defending the white house like in MW2 when the Russians invade. Don’t give us bland made-up locations like Call of Duty did with MW2022. I want real guns and real locations. I want amazing Game of Thrones style writing. No DEI slop. If it’s a modern game, the game can already be inclusive. Just make female combat roles realistic (i.e. fighter pilot, tank drivers, mechanics, and rare front line operator roles as sniper spotters and drone operators). Gay characters are okay. Don’t include trans characters, though. No trans flags or pride flags. Only flags in this game should be country flags (I miss Medal of Honor 2010 where you had country specific operators and equipment). Skins should be grounded and realistic overall. No dumb 420 lizard skins or nicki minaj skins like in COD. I want the new game to be a mix of BF1 and BF4 with elements of Space Marine 2. Monetization doesn’t need to be skin specific. Copying Call of Duty completely will make this franchise fail like Ubisoft’s forgettable Call of Duty competitor, XDefiant. Give up the Battle Royale aspect as well. Extraction shooter is okay, but Battle Royale is dead. Battlefield’s strengths are in large scale battles like Space Marine 2.

every studio has lost the big picture. a jack of all trades is the master of nothing. dice or I should say EA is trying to attract every kind of fps player but that’ll never happen because true gamers want something in particular out of a game. trying to pander to all fps gamers leads to none of them favoring your game. they need to understand what made them unique in the first place and concentrate on it.

They release around gta6 … every big aaa game will be slop. They can do it because there’s no competition in sales. Fans want a new bf no matter what the state will be. They’ll fix it to something good after a while
