Whew! I am so glad no harm was done to Benjamin. Our parents lost our house key for about 2 years. We never worried. We also did not have an alarm system. No one in the neighborhood had an alarm system We also trusted the government and we trusted the news 100%. Those days will never return. In 2025 I question EVERYTHING. Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Love you, your Mom & all the family

Senior Diane from MD. Thanking GOD Benjamin is o.k. Glad Benjamin allowed you to share his incident. It's helpful when we are told this, makes us aware of another scam. Miss your mother, I reminded every January another year we lost her. I purchased one of her paintings and think again of her. Loved her recipes and most of all , just HER. Her personality, her demeanor , her soft voice and taught us many things. I cut up celery, and other veggies to freeze. She was a incredible woman. You were blessed and are blessed.

Yay for Benjamin! You've got to think why wouldn't they ask their friends? I'm 63 and I get scams almost twice a month. I have been lucky so far, but they go after seniors the most. We cannot believe anyone these days it seems. It's best to ask God for protection from scammers!

Always be prayed up before we leave the house. I was receiving packages from major companies which I never ordered. Also received text messages stating my package was being delivered. After receiving a package the text directed me to click on a link to pay for my purchase. I went to a detective and he told me it was a scammer. I also receive texts from post office telling me I need to contact them through a link due to a wrong address and zip code. Postal services confirmed another scam.

Sadly, it isn't lack of intelligence that is behind people getting scammed. It's often trust. Isn't it sad that, often, we can no longer trust people and have to assume the worst in order to protect ourselves. I echo the sentiments of so many others when I say that I am relieved that Benjamin emerged safe.🙏😇

I am so glad Benjamin is ok. A cousin of mine was shot three times in the belly a month ago he walked out of a restaurant after eating breakfast and was going to work. Someone in a Porsche drove up in the parking lot and just shot him. The surgeon said another millimeter and his heart would have been pierced. Thank God. He is alive and we are glad nothing more serious happened. The police said it was an initiation for a gang member they were pretty sure. That had been happening there in that town recently. Said they still have not found the ones that shot him. Steve, I miss your Mom so much I was one of her biggest fans. I cried when she passed. She was one special lady but I know you know that.

Thank God they didn't take your son - so many bad things could have happened but didn't. I think the most important tip is to stay in a public place. Should have stayed inside Taco Bell if he was going to try to help them. And now he knows. Unfortunately, scammers ruin it for anyone who truly does need help because nobody can be trusted anymore.

This happened to me and my young daughter years ago.We had been shopping, got into the car and the next thing I know a woman has inserted herself between me and the car door. She said she needed diapers, could I give her money.I said no,but I will go into the store with you and buy you some. She didn't want anything to do with that. She would not leave and I finally pushed her, stuck my leg on the car door and told her to get lost. She did leave,I was able to shut the door.I was so angry that I had felt so threatened with my daughter in the car. My young daughter, innocent looked at me with her big eyes and said, she didn't want diapers did she mom?I said no baby, she wanted money,,, Now they do it over the phone, scammers everyday trying to steal your info.Or coming to the door pretending to be from the utility or phone companies.Scamming emails..it is never ending. People be careful. So glad your son is ok....

Thank you for sharing your story, many people think these things don’t really happen. I worked in a financial institution for over 25 years and it happens EVERYDAY !! Many elderly don’t believe it’s a scam because of the generation of honesty they grew up in, many lost their life savings because they believe the scammer and not the bank officials. One lady I remember put cash in a magazine and sent it to another state thinking she was paying tax on a larger amount she would receive.🤷♀️. So glad Ben is ok and a smarter man now, NEVER give people money!! A few weeks back a man was asking for $1.85 ( in the parking lot of a strip mall)to catch a bus and go to work, I walked on by got in my car and watched at least 5 people give home money and he was still working the parking lot when I drove away 🤣🤣🤣 he had on a white silk shirt and black pants🤣🤣 exactly!! Where did he work???🤣🤣🤣

Why would someone not suspect this was a scam right away? Nothing good could come out of a stranger approaching you to "help" him cash a check, even if it was $10. Instead of calling his bank, he should have called 911 and explained the situation. I hate all this Venmo and Apple Pay on phones today--you can't hardly go to McDonald's anymore without having to order your food on an app and pay electronically. I don't play that game--I don't have any of that on my phone. Hopefully, next time Benjamin will remember this scary encounter and walk away with an adamant "I'm sorry, but I can't help you". Just say no.

Scammers are so very plausible. I've been saved only by my banks fraud squad stopping the payment. I felt very stupid but if I'd have lost the money, it would have taken me ages to get over it - not about the money as much as my trust and confidence.

Yeah bully robbers. People are just so sneaky and stupid. Glad Benjamin wasn’t hurt! I would have been so mad I would have started screaming. Anybody takes my phone they’re getting a pop in the beak. When we came home from Norway, whenever someone would ask Eric for money, he’d give a few dollars.
