As someone who was alive at the time but too young for MySpace, I am definitely very jealous that you guys got to experience such kewl things! I, myself, am trying to become scene despite scene queens and many other scene kids no longer being scene or a kid!

Me too, i'm 23 at the moment of posting this reply but i feel nostalgic for that part of the internet that we miss today The MSN chat, the MySpace blogs, the heavy make up, the silly yet creative hairstyles, and the colorfull quirky clothing That was part of my childhood along side many other convoluted things and i will try to be a scene kiddo even i'm not a kid anymore 💖😭

Yeah... after being an emo then scene kid 10 - 15 years ago (I just turned 30), I became such a basic bitch. Kept my facial piercings and ear stretchers (I did take them out at certain times...). I actually took my stretchers out for years and had to stretch them again... they're only 12mm. I had 13 piercings at one stage. I let my hair grow out, stopped bleaching it and dying it bright colours (having rainbow hair is up keep man!). My style is now grunge meets casual street wear... I do wonder if people look at me and think it's weird that I have piercings yet dress so casually (unless I'm wearing a pleated skirt, or oversized t-shirt with fishnets or thigh highs, and do my make up). I don't feel like I'm being myself... like expressing who I am externally anymore. It's been a long time and I wouldn't go back to wearing what I used to but I still want to be my alternative self. I was actually extremely depressed as a tween and the emo/scene culture and music made me feel safe... even though I have anxiety about being in public and people looking at me. Ironic, I know... especially when I had bright hair, piercings and dressed so out there. I'm fine at parties, social gatherings, etc and can strike up a conversation with strangers but while walking alone (without friends, family or a partner) in public I feel anxious knowing people are driving and walking past and might look at me. I got over my depression by basically faking happiness and a bubbly personality until I emulated who I wanted to be... but now my mentality has declined. I'm going to buy some more alternative clothes soon and dye my hair and just slowly ease myself into it. I won't dress like I did as a scene kid but I'll be expressing myself in way that feels genuine.

was scene in 2008. essential scene kid music starter pack (for all of you 2nd wavers): nickasaur, casiokid, the ready set, sabrepulse, Amy can flyy, breathe electric, the title, stereo skyline, the failing farewell. most of that shit is basically beta version of hyper pop. enjoy.

I became friends with some scene kids back then. I was in my late 20's so I was more the grunge type, but what I loved about them was they didn't believe in labels. Today it seems everything is about labels and that's just so annoying.

It sucked so bad. I had to give MySpace up eventually cause everybody left /: I don’t even have a Facebook, fuck Facebook so hard it’s such garbage. Just like Twitter imo. Sure MySpace was toxic in a certain ways but not like it is now. Who ever knew social media would lead us in such a dystopian direction. & who knew facebook would suck so hard.

I was born in 2009 so i didnt get to be emo when it was cool. Im currently in my "emo phase" and honestly the bands i listen to has helped me find my passion which is music. Ive been playing bass for 1 year and guitar for about 2 months and i play bass in a band (my brother does drums for the band) and we've been having so much fun. Howard Benson, the producer of three cheers for sweet revenge, liked a video of me and my band play Im Not by mcr and it was crazy. Escape the fate and three days grace liked it too and we were freaking out. Of course i get made fun of for being emo in 2023 by people at school but at least im the one who's playing shows and getting recognized by a big producer. Im really glad that i fiund emo bands and found my passion. Ive always loved art and drawing and painting and it was my first passion, i still draw and im a lot better and im still passionate about it. But ive been more focused on music

I remember being so upset about everyone only using Facebook instead of myspace and not being able to find Henley shirts anymore, and everyone using emojis instead of the classic XD / :) . My style was a mixture of scene, emo, and skater. I tried all kinds of crazy hair colors and looks. Sadly, i don't have any pics because they were all on my myspace. I was in middle school when I found out about these different aesthetics. I really enjoyed seeing scene kids outfits, fair, etc online. I love black and pastels, bright colors, and loved how cartoon characters where involved. I sadly couldn't have the whole look, cuz, crazy toxic religion ideology controlled town, and no money of course. I have learned a lot about myself after those 3 years.(middle school was rough) I slow started to make my collection/style/outfits. I love putting on outfits and cosplaying. It really makes me happy and exploring gender. Being a scene kid to me is, the music, knowing i can express myself and i don't have to care about what people think of me. the emo community walked , so that scene kids could run.

I wanted SOOO BADLY to be like them. now ever since I turned 18 (im 22 now!) I've been letting myself be scene/emo by copying the style with my own wardrobe and teasing my hair, it's sooo much fun :D I even got all the piercings I want and I get compliments all the time (usually from og scene kids) :D thanks for the fun video

I remember when scene became popular when I was like 15 and it just took over. I was emo before that and it all went from black and dark colours to rainbows and randomlolrawrrrxd type people and we all had names like GazzyAngelCore. It was probably the best times of my life. Being a scene kid on a local British "hippie green" was beneficial to who I am today. We needa bring it back HARD!

this video is a year old, but I learned about scene kids n the like near the very end of its original reign, somewhere between 2009 and 2012. I was starting to engage with the internet in ways that weren't facebook games and goofy youtube videos I didn't delve into it too hard back then, but I was fascinated and wanted to be like that- I loved the hair and clothes especially, they were so fun and colorful and right up my 9-12 year old alley I would occasionally look back wishing I could embrace the style, but didn't really consider it too hard until the end of 2019, when the rawring 20s was being mentioned alas, I never did actually embrace the style 100%, for personal reasons, but I've embraced little things into my life like kandi and stuff would love to get my hair done with The Hairstripes at some point, it's so cool still imo

I was way too young for MySpace because I was a tiny kid and didn’t know it came into existence when I was a tiny kid very tiny until this video and doing a little research on the MySpace website. I’m a bit jealous that there was people old enough to experience it because I would have loved to experience the website and meet other emos and meet scene kids too. I became a emo as recently as last year and I’ve never been so happy in my life because I feel like it was meant to happen to me. I also absolutely love the scene kid fashion and hair colors and stuff but I’m not brave enough to try that and also I’m way too pale for that anyway and can just about pull off having jet black hair. And I will be surprised if I can pull off the emo hairstyle too when I finally get it done. I would love to meet other emos and meet scene kids but there really isn’t any that I know in my hometown. Only my friends that are Trad Goths. It would be amazing to meet other emos and meet scene kids. I feel like I’m the only emo.. maybe that’s because I’ve never seen another emo in my hometown or unless I don’t pay attention because I’m mentally in my own happy world 😂

It can be daunting trying something new and I know how scary it can be to step out of your comfort zone but don't let anyone stand in the way of you being yourself or doing something you enjoy - you got this, good luck! :)
